View From The Top Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 Has anyone had any yet? I have just had a Labour one at my door. Unfortunately he was a scouser. Didn't see any at all last general election
dune Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 None yet, but seen loads of Conservative Vote for Change signs along the road sides. I'm hoping i'm at home if a Labour one calls so I can tell them exactly why i'm not voting for them.
IamLeGod Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 (edited) Have never had one come to my door in my life. Though saying this I have lived in Ruislip - one of the safest tory seats in the country and now Leeds one of the Labour strong holds. Have done some voluntary work, including canvassing, for parties as part of my A-levels and degree. And can be an unenviable job. SuperMikey Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 Had a Conservative MP come-a-calling round my way yesterday. Unfortunately I was out, otherwise I would've told him exactly where to stick his f*cking leaflet.
toofarnorth Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 I've had a conservative MP come calling. Told him I was undecided about who to vote for and his eyes lit up. Yet to be convinced.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 Had a Tory around last week. One of my dogs (a chocolate labrador ffs) nearly tore him a new arsehole. She only ever barks at people, normally. This time she really went for him.

I'll buy her one of these if you set her on the BNP and Labour candidates too:
bridge too far Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 No canvassers here in Cameron country and I think it's unlikely the Tories will come calling - it's in the bag for them. We have had 3 separate leaflet deliveries from them this morning. Mr TF raced out when the third one arrived, holding the leaflet like it was a dog turd, and asked them not to deliver any more as our recycle bin was already full I've told this story before about how, when I lived near Guildford, I managed to detain the then Tory candidate for about 20 minutes by pretending to be undecided. Then his eyes lit upon our collection of historical trade union posters. He did have the grace to smile and admit I'd 'got him'. Still 20 minutes with me meant less chance of his persuading others. Only to be expected in Winchester thgough.
TopGun Posted 10 April, 2010 Share Posted 10 April, 2010 New media channels mean there is less far reason for door knocking in 2010. People pick their stuff up from TV, papers, internet and more these days. Politicians only knock doors effectively now in genuinely marginal seats or when they know they are being followed by a media crew which will be broadcast on TV as well. Actually, this is also guff. The last thing politicians want to do is have the media following them around canvassing. If people answer a door and a camera is there, their reaction isn't likely to be natural. The only reason this would happen is if media insisted on following a canvassing session.
