Pompey not sold out for sunday yet

What a joke of a club, cant sell their allocation for a semi final at Wembley. Wonder if the commentators on sunday when commenting on their fantastic, passionate support will mention they couldn't sell all their tickets...

I very much doubt it, all commentators this season have completely overlooked their pathetic attendances at Fratton. I imagine when the Skates go 4-0 down on Sunday their fans will spend the rest of the game chanting some Spurs players name to cover up what a joke club they are and convince the neutrals watching they're a great set of fans.

Plenty to choose from ... Kracjar, Crouch, Defoe..... That'll confuse the little darlings! LoL :-D

Stupid playing the SF's at Wembley in the first place should be reserved just for the final.

Exactly.... Wembley should be for Cup Finals and Cup Finals only, not Semi-Finals, not Play-Off Finals...

Nowadays nearly every professional footballer has played at Wembley, which is wrong.

Portsmyth can't shift 32K for an FA Cup semi final.

Saints sell an estimated 51k for a tin pot final and could have sold more!!

Sums it all up really.

If we'd been to Wembley twice in April and May 2008 and now again in April 2010, with a potential further visit in May 2010, I'd venture that we wouldn't get as much going for the forthcoming semi-final as we did for the JPT.

Don't get me wrong, I still reckon we'd sell more than Pompey but the 'novelty factor' would not have been as big as it was for us in our circumstances this year.

I think they done wonders getting to wembley in the first place.

I certainly won't take the **** out of a fan about how many people are going as he will remind me who they beat to get there.

I really thought that you were made of sterner stuff than that, Pilchards.

If I were in that position, I'd ram their pathetic efforts at selling tickets for a Wembley Cup semi-final down his throat and when the inevitable come-back came that they at least had beaten us to get there, I'd remind him that at the time they had been trading illegally while insolvent and that at least three players who influenced the outcome in their favour shouldn't have been on the pitch. Then, if he threw the 4-1 back at me, I'd tell him to go ahead and crow because their Premiership team had beaten a team two divisions below them, who had dominated the match for 70 minutes and that even then, the victory had been obtained through a string of heroic saves by arguably England's number one goalkeeper.

And having said that, I'd ask him if he thought it was worth it, spending money they didn't have, if the result was that their club was headed towards oblivion?

Overspending Premier League club beating team who started season in League 1 on -10 shocker.

Even more shocking is the fact that Villa haven't sold out either, with a club with a fan base like theirs, that is very poor.

A tiny tin-pot club like the Skates not selling out is not suprising, when was the last time they sold out anything?

What is it with the city of Birmingham?

Villa's support is generally poor given their consistent top-half finishes. BIrmingham City's support is utter gash.

Ask their suppliers or service providers.

I am rather irritated by the urban legend of the pompey faithful supporters. There away support in the pl is not all that and they dont fill their own ground even for critical sixpointers. I think we are more eligible for the faithful suporters title than they. It would be interesting to compare respective away support for them and us over the years......i think i know the outcome...what was it they had at anfield c.4 weeks ago when they were not in admin and could still survive ( with support from those faithful fans) ....450 was it? Pathetic.

I was thinking something along those lines when i read Inter Milan only took 500 fans to moscow for the CL quarter final 2nd leg. 500? Can u imagine Southampton football club in the Champions League quarter finals second leg away anywhere and we are 1-0 from the first leg......5000? 10,000? But would they would let us have tickets.....

Even when we was in adminsitration and with RL at the helm I am pretty sure we would have sold 32K for a wembley semi final. Yes they are in admin, yes they have been poorly run and yes they have rubbish players bar 1 or 2 but no excuse for not selling there allocation considering they are "best fans in the country". I live near skateville and I see first hand what they are really like. They only have what I class as hardcore supporter of about 10-11k who would turn up against barnsley on a cold tuesday night.

We may be a division below (most likely) but the fact is we are by far and away the biggest team on the South Coast.

I'd love to say they haven't..but this article says they have ?

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/Extra-tickets-released-for-Pompey.6215116.jp

I don't know where they do their Maths but this puzzled me...

It means 33,000 Pompey fans will turn half of Wembley into a sea of blue as the club bids to put one over former manager Harry Redknapp.

I am sure 33k is not half of 90? Maybe Peter Storrie wrote the article? And 33k was their allocation... they just held 2k back, so regardless... they haven't sold out.

"Only cash will be accepted for the tickets." :D

When we were offered these tickets we felt it was best to put them straight on general" sale as season ticket holders, members and other fans who have been to Fratton Park this season have had the priority opportunity to purchase.

For various reasons people may not have been able to get to Fratton Park this season and we felt they should have the chance to experience the magnificent atmosphere our fans create at Wembley."

What a crock of ****! Because they're always sold out and there have only been circa 20 games you "couldn't" attend.

Agreed, you have Old Trafford with 75k capacity and the Emirates with 60k. More than enough for semi-finals.

Just been talking to a guy here in Pompey who is selling flags and jester hats in the town centre. He had a a stall full of gear and nobody was buying. Anyway I took pity and showed some interest in the poor chap but he told me to p!ss off when I asked whether he had anything in red and white.

How very rude. Blue aint my colour doncha know.

There's nothing "novelty factor" about it, it's an FA Cup semi-final FFS.

We could play in it every year for the next 5 years, it's still a big game.

So Wembley have supplied extra tickets then? Funny that, I'm a courier and delivered a large box (lets say around 2,000 tickets size) to Nottarf Krap this morning sent not from Wembley, but from Ticketmaster!

When I observed that the box probably contained tickets being returned by Ticketmaster which they had failed to sell, it was met with a "Yes" through gritted teeth! Think receptionist might have guessed my allegiance by the smug grin on my face!

I know of a Saints fan who was offered a ticket to the Poopey game and he's going. He dislikes Poopey and Spurs in equal measure. So is this wrong? I wouldn't go if I were him...in fact I literally couldn't go.

I couldn't go for that very reason !

Hmmm, a bit like the 'Save the Saints' game, what was the number of tickets sold before it was called off through lack of interest? 1500? People in glass houses and all that.......

It was sold out, as was our previous final and semi-final. Also, our latest F.A. cup final will sell out. We could sell out twice over if we had the tickets........

No it wasn't sold out. Definitely a fair few empty rows at the back of the upper tier in your end. HTH.

Correct. Seats not released by the F.A. for some reason. Don't know why- they'd have gone in minutes. What we were given were all sold out. Sorry, I know you'd all love it it they weren't but I'm telling you they were....

Gone in minutes? It took you three weeks to shift your full allocation, selling out 3 days before the game. On general sale. That, is POOR. You were given 2,000 to sell on the Saturday. I don't know if they sold out. I doubt it.

And as for selling out twice over?

Quite possibly the most absurd thing I have ever heard LOL

Just shows how little you know. The seat sales were staggered, i.e. different stands on different days, then various supporters groups on different days, then members, finally general sale + 2000 extra released two days before by the F.A. ALL SOLD, accept it......

Comparing a pointless match at our home ground to an FA cup semi final at Wembley?
