Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 I'm sure Adam is looking at this and thinking, I could enjoy the same success that Andrew Surman has had if I go there.
Stepgar Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Tottenham might be able to turn his head but wolves? No chance.
S-Clarke Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Read the posts from THEVMAN and Western on y/days Lallana thread, that's all you need to know. he isn't going anywhere.
warsash saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 I will lay good money on Lallana ending up at Fulham by the start of next season
Saint Fan CaM Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Unfortunately if do not go up I can see £5m being too much of a tempter. Having said that, we have yet to see how well NC and Markus stand up to the pressure of higher placed clubs coming in for our best players as we struggle up the leagues. I do not think selling Lallana will fit nicely with their game plan to be honest, so perhaps we will see a sterner approach to keeping the squad together. Let's face it, we should be strengthening the squad this summer, not selling the best - that was Lowe's way and it failed.
once_bitterne Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Don't think he is good enough for the Prem at this stage. He has good games but is not yet consitant.
Dalek2003 Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 One big incentive for players to stay at Saints is our ambition and intent. This is genuine and backed by ambitious owners.

Let's face it, we should be strengthening the squad this summer, not selling the best - that was Lowe's way and it failed. The old Board didn't have much choice when it came to selling. We needed the money. Now apparently we don't. Huge difference. Also if a player want to go you can't really keep him. Arsenal or Southampton, Tottenham or Southampton...do you realy think that Walcott and Bale struggled over their decisions? Although I hope we hang on to Lallana it wouldn't be the end of the world if he left. If the new owners are serious (and there is no reason to think they are not) about progress they will allow Pardew to find a decent replacement.
sadoldgit Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 One big incentive for players to stay at Saints is our ambition and intent. This is genuine and backed by ambitious owners. I agree, although as with many fans on here who have no patience, some players will not want to wait 4 to 5 seasons to play in the Premiership. This is no problem if you replace them with players of quality.
sotonjoe Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 People seem to have missed the fact that Cortese still acknowledged you can't keep a player who doesn't want to stay. This was in his extended Radio Solent interview. In addition to this, once a player tells his club, agent and prospective purchasers that he wants to move, his market value will decrease significantly so Saints won't simply be able to pick a price out of thin air. If Adam were to say that he wants out, I can't see the club standing in his way if their initial attempts to persuade him fail. If things go that far I'd be surprised if Saints were able to get more than £3m for him. Casting our subjectivity aside, he is a LEAGUE ONE player with one good season under his belt.

CalshotSpit Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Don't think he is good enough for the Prem at this stage. He has good games but is not yet consitant. Is that the same as incontinent?

You are right, and there is a huge difference between our divison and the Premiership. They would be buying a player of potential who is far from the finished aricle and someone, who like Surman, might find the Premiership a step too far right now - he may never make it at that level.
keithd Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 I will lay good money on Lallana ending up at Fulham by the start of next season ok lay it with me and i'll give you a good return if he does
Cabrone Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Well this is a business and every player has his price. However the good news is that SFC can now dictate the terms if Wolves want him. Although Lallana is a decent player at this level he could be replaced if needs be. That said I personally hope he stays as I think both club and player would benefit if he remains at SFC.
St_Tel49 Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 5m pounds is a hell of a lot of money for a player of his calibre, I'd be amazed if anyone offered us that much. That is the whole point - it would discourage bids.
Charlie Wayman Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Arsenal or Southampton, Tottenham or Southampton...do you realy think that Walcott and Bale struggled over their decisions? Although I hope we hang on to Lallana it wouldn't be the end of the world if he left. Chelsea or Southampton... Bridge etc Although I hope we hang on to Lallana it wouldn't be the end of the world if he left. This opinion is patently wrong and absurd! It would be - and would confirm to fans that Saints are still a short-sighted selling club that lacks the ambition to do anymore than tread water and run a tight financial economy with no further cash injections from anywhere. Just watch the crowds melt away when the last of our local lads with any realistic prospect of going all the way heads out. Then the economics won't look quite so settled. Saints have been and always will be to fans a friendly family club founded solidly in the community it represents. If we ended up with not a single player from the borough, it would surely be a very black day for us. As NC is on record as wanting at least half our team coming from within the Academy system, it is inconceivable that he will sell Lallana willingly and on this issue he an Pards are surely united as one.

Do you know anything about Football? Seriously? Nearly every single club is a selling club. Manchester United are a selling club. Southampton Football Club are a selling club. We are in League One ffs. We however have the ability (because of our backing) to dictate prices but when a price is matched then we become a selling club. If Lallana wants to go, as long as a price can be matched then we will sell. We are like pretty much every club in football a selling club if the player wants to go. Name me a player that has been kept at a club against his wishes, especially one in league one... Name me a club that is not a selling club...
corsacar saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Why do some on here, still not believe Weston Saint.
WealdSaint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Will be interesting to see how Cortese handles the close season and the various offers that come in. Given the financial state of many clubs I would imagine it will be £x Million in our bank NOW, with maybe a sell on clause. None of this so much now, so much if we get into the champions league, so much after x international caps. Wanting ALL the money up front might make many clubs suddenly get cold feet maybe?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Can we have a new "Lallana speculation... " thread everyday?
farawaysaint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 More important than whther we sell him or not is whether the speculation will affect Adam.. We've all seen what's happened to Beckford after the big clubs came sniffing this season.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Author Posted 8 April, 2010 Can we have a new "Lallana speculation... " thread everyday? If you want one. Personally I'd find it a little annoying.
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 It would be a shame to see him go if he did, but i am confident that he will be staying. It is not the first time he has had bids for him, nor will it be the last, besides, he has had such a good season that there will be newspaper speculation, as i expect you will see for Rickie aswell, it is just how it goes. Could he do a job in the Prem ?? Honestly i believe in a team such as Fulham he would manage at first an inconsitant job but overall the boy has potential. Much in the same way as i could see Schneiderlin cutting it in that league, if the tactics are right.

Genk Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Hang on, has Lallana not come out and said that he wants to be here next season. He will be here next season unless an absolutely ridiculous bid comes in which I doubt it will.
OldNick Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 They won't be told! Like banging your head against a brick wall. Weston , it is all very well saying AL says he wont be leaving but my house is not for sale at any price, until I get a massive offer that makes me think differently. Wait and see if a big opportunity comes along and then see. I do wonder also if Antonio's success has indeed sparked Reading into not wanting him to leave there.

Wait and see if a big opportunity comes along and then see. I do wonder also if Antonio's success has indeed sparked Reading into not wanting him to leave there. Antonio's contract runs out at the end of May and he is able to negotiate a deal with whoever he likes. Reading do not have any say in the matter. They could (belatedly) offer him a new contract but it's totally up to Antonio, whether to accept or not.

Having no current plans to leave and not leaving are two totally different things.

trousers Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 Weston, will you give me £20,000 in September if Adam has signed for another club by end of August? With me paying you nothing in return if he doesn't. Nothing to lose? :-)
Weston Saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 This is what I said on another thread. Multiple threads on the same subject are a joke! A player always wants to develope his skills and test them at a higher level. Promotion will help but Adam knows he needs another year getting regular football with Saints. Of course if a Premier club comes in with an offer he cannot refuse then like everone else with a short high earning career he is going to be tempted and if it was considered right for him he may go. However at this stage he is only thinking of playing for Saints, this season and at least the next. He is convinced he will be playing Premier with Saints in a few years

Lambert will be a bigger draw for floating supporters EVERY club is a selling club when players want to leave from Man U to us.
OldNick Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 This is what I said on another thread. Multiple threads on the same subject are a joke!Well with those provisos Im sure you can say he is not leaving, I have no doubt he is saying what you have told us. Time will tell if his head gets turned.
Genk Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 If AL is tempted by the likes of Spurs & Fulham then he needs to look no further than Delph at Villa. Yes he may be on triple the wage he was on at Leeds, but he has had hardly any appearances this season. Guess it comes down to whether the player is happy to sit on the bench & play for the reserves for a Prem team, or continue with a club which is on the rise where he is one of the key players for another season. If Saints do not go up next season then there is no doubt he will leave.

Earning 3 times what he does now soon becomes quite a draw.Im sure Baird is upset he doesnt get many games but Im sure he soon forgets as he sees his wage slip. If AL believes in his own ability he would not be thinking he was going to warm the bench (whatever I believe would be the case)he will be expecting to set the world alight.
krissyboy31 Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 I can't believe the likes of Spurs or Fulham for that matter would be interested in Adam TBH. More likely to be a lower end Premier League club like Wolves (already linked), Hull City or Stoke or a couple of Championship clubs. I would like to think that AL is looking at this scenario and thinking that in 2/3 years time, we could well be in a better position than any of these clubs and I'm sure that is what Pardew and Cortese will be telling him.

pimpin4rizeal Posted 8 April, 2010 Posted 8 April, 2010 cant see any sense in lallana moving to the prem at the minute. look what happened to surman hes hardly had a great time at wolves we are a club majorly on the up and will be a much bigger club then wolves etc in bout 2-3 years time. and why would u join spurs whats the chances of winning a wing place over lennon bentley modric krancjaar bale and co ? stay where you are adam you know it makes sense
