I despise the Liberals so personally think it's quite funny that they get shafted, but if and when the Tories get in they do need to alter the bundaries so that Labour aren't favoured so much. The Tories currently need something like a 7 point lead over the Socialists to form a govt and this needs addressing.

The Tories have been in my area since after WW2, i'll still turn out and vote Labour though for the principle.

'vote Labour though for the principle'

I don't really know what you mean! Both Blair and Brown broke so many promises, and to be honest buggered up nearly everything now we have loads of burocratic poo and people working in the council on more money than the PM. Police can't do their job because of paperwork kids are always taking tests for bugger all reason.

Plus benefit cheats and single mums happen to earn a bucket full of dosh even though they poo parents.

I would never call myself a loyal voter as I believe that I should vote for who I feel will do the best job from what is said.

I don't like politics much but we can have a free vote which is something many countrys dont get and feel its a bit dis-respectfull to not even care about your countrys vote. It basicly should be important no matter who you vote for.

COYR (but not labour!!!) ha ha

They'd win a few football fans' votes, but probably get derided by the other two parties and their voters for focusing on something like that. They ought to be shouting a bit more about their University tuition policies imo, that's their USP for me.

To be fair I feel if your going to uni then you shoud pay, if your not good enough you shouldnt go (not this everyone should go rubbish) and also all these drama and courses for the sake of courses, there are too many.

But thats my feeling!!

Labour are hardly socialist.

What is it about the liberals you despise?

And what is it about New Labour that you consider to actually be socialist?

I know that you and I have differing views and I'm not in any way trying to bait you or anything, I'm genuinely interested to hear your thoughts that's all.

I was totally unsure about voting, until I realised that Labour isn't good for this country due to the stupid policies which they have given. Like the tax rise on alcohol and cigarettes..

that is going to effect pubs hell of a lot (job cuts, less customers, more pubs closing), people will buy alcohol down a supermarket and drink loads, before going to a pub/club, due to how much they will save from these stupid prices for a pint.

As for raising price of cigarettes, not the best idea considering 90 percent of people on benefits smoke.. that will effect the poorer people hell of a lot as it's a proper addiction, just like alcohol, due to the nature of it all.

No one can afford to pay extra such as this rise.

I look at things and predict in 10 years time, there will be a very few pubs still standing.

You can't stop a person from spending on their most tempting addiction.

I believe we need a change in power this time :) Labour are passed it.

Blimey, I never knew that. So, people on benefits are virtually propping up the NHS by themselves, in tax on cigarettes.

And to think that some people believe they contribute nothing and give them such a hard time too.

After removing the 'won't vote' and 'undecided' votes, I calculated that currently (12/04/10) the shares of the 'vote' from SWF are as follows:

Labour 23%

Conservative 32%

Lib Dem 32%

Others 13%

Using this little tool found on the BBC website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8609989.stm), this converted to the following number of seats:

Labour 212

Conservative 264

Lib Dem 145

Others 29

What this suggests to me is that the voting system (first past the post) in the UK is totally iniquitous. If the BBC tool is correct, Then having the joint highest number of votes would still leave the Lib Dems in a distant 3rd place!

Ironically this would give them much the same in the current system as it would under most types of alternative system - a very powerful position in the horse trading that follows a hung parliament - going with the bbc tool's assumption that voiting followed similar patterns to last time. Scarily a different extrapolation of the numbers could equally easily see this lead to the Tories securing a majority government with less than a third of the popular vote.

FWIW I am totally with you on the thought that the system is an iniquity. The argument that a coalition would lead to instability is, to my mind, a bit of a red herring - for every Italy there's a Germany, Ireland or New Zealand - where having a diversity of interests in government means that policy is challenged and debated ina more constructive way than the oppo making sheep noises at Westminster

i agree and it would allow more people to vote for the party in areas where at the moment, its a wasted vote.

On second thoughts perhaps it'd be better done after the prime ministerial debates.

My thoughts precisely.

task delegated to Arizona :p poll will be up in a sec

Will stick it up at 10pm after the debate.
