equalizer Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 I thought something was going down as I live near Shirley and I could here sirens for quite some time last night. It's about time the council pulled down these death trap flats, but no ours would rather build more! RIP

Master Bates Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 From St Mary's, just spoke to my cousin as her hubby is a firefighter at St Mary's, he's alright in the fact he's alive but not that he's lost 2 colleagues.
Micky Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 Very sad story, hopefully no other casualties either FF's or residents. Thoughts are for the colleagues and families of those lost.

INFLUENCED.COM Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 It's about time the council pulled down these death trap flats, but no ours would rather build more! RIP Firstly, my thoughts go out to the families of the firefighters who have lost their lives. It is somewhat extreme to suggest these flats are death traps, of course we do not yet know the cause of the firefighters deaths but to have evacuated the volume of residents without harm to the same conflicts with your statement. Hatch Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 RIP to two extraordinarily brave men. I'm not a big fan of the public outpourings of grief, flowers and all that, In fact in the majority of cases , I would argue that its just trying to get on telly. Saint_Jonny Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 Very very sad, familys of the two guys must be devestated, poor things. As aside, the interviews with people from the estate in question show Shirley to be right **** hole, looked like they had just walked out of a charity shop the lot of them. Yes, im a snob. gaz Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 The very small crumb of comfort for their families is that they passed away saving the lives of the public. sotonjoe Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 As aside, the interviews with people from the estate in question show Shirley to be right **** hole, looked like they had just walked out of a charity shop the lot of them. Yes, im a knob. Really? You mean people living in council flats are typically from a lower social demographic than those who own their properties? What an interesting thought to add to an otherwise respectful thread.
StuRomseySaint Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 Yup, When Diana died me and my brother were just wandering around Kensington Palace trying to get in front of the cameras. SNSUN Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 If I wasn't a fat, alcoholic waste of space, I wouldn't mind becoming a fireman, but you need some serious balls to do the job, and this incident highlights why. RIP to the guys - partners of fire personnel must cack themselves when their other halves go off to work. I'll stick with my safe job working on the most bombable metro system in the world at the site of the most bombable place in Britain.

Redondo Saint Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 Very interested to know the cause of the fire. I really hope it was not as a result of somebody ****ed up or out of their heads on drugs that caused it - otherwise they should be prosecuted for murder. - That's how it works in the U.S and quite rightly so in my opinion. Robbie Posted 8 April, 2010 Share Posted 8 April, 2010 The flowers from the Saints were amongst the first to arrive at the station yesterday. A very nice touch from Mr Cortese and the club, the man is a class act. I think Al was a Saints fan but I'm not 100% on it. Jim definately was though and regularly went to games at SMS with his Dad. RIP lads, you'll be missed.
