Well, at least Huddersfield aren't exactly playing well :

Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark told BBC Radio Leeds:

"You said I've got a big grin - I think it's more of an embarrassed smile, because we've won two-nil, and it's all about winning but God only knows how.

"That was if not our worst home performance then up there with them, without a shadow of a doubt.

"It was flat, we didn't do many things right, if anything, but we scored two goals and maybe could have got a couple more. But we've got to make sure the players are aware that we've got to perform better than that."

(Not that we did any better against Orient though).

Here's where we have to start saying "IF they do it, I'll " (insert humiliating and/or expensive activity).

To get the ball rolling, IF they do it I'll buy my Dad's season ticket for him for next year, and come into work (a bank) wearing the full away kit, including tie-ups and pink boots.

I think it's almost certain we will be above Colchester. I really seriously do not see them getting 79 points. And we will get more than 71. It's not out of the realms of possibility that we could scrape past Huddersfield on GD.

If I worry about the other teams fixtures, I would never get any sleep at night.

Quite simply, Saints have to win all seven of our remaining games. Do that, and fate will do the rest. To be honest, if we go into the last game vs Southend with a chance of getting into (or even staying in) the play-offs, that'll be fine with me.

That game in hand (OLDH home) is technically 5 points off.

HUDD was good, COLC was unexpected, but I'm less worried about them.

That draw at Brighton is looking really tragic now, especially since they've lost the last 2 to HART and CARL.

I'm even starting to think we could afford to take a point at BRIR

Beat Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. That is as far ahead as I am going to look. I did suggest Huddersfield would struggle to beat Brentford away as Brentford have been pretty strong in 2010. I am surprised at Colchester beating Swindon but technically we are no worse off with regarding the point’s target we have to chase.

My thoughts are that we will have a very good idea if the miracle is on by about 21:30 on Tuesday 20th!

HUDDERSFIELD: Oldham 3[3], Brentford 1[0], Walsall 3, Millwall 0, Stockport 3, Colchester 1, Exeter 1. Total Points: 77[76]

SAINTS: Charlton 3[3], Bristol Rovers 1, Yeovil 3, Oldham 3, Carlisle 3, Gillingham 3, Southend 3. Total Points: 76[76]

COLCHESTER: Swindon 0[3], Charlton 0, Hartlepool 1, Tranmere 3, Huddersfield 1, L Orient 3. Total Points: 73[76]

Shows that this prediction malarky is tough, HUD lose a point we gave them, COL get 3 points we didn't have them down for.

Goal Diff means we only need the same points...

All the games that matter concerning Saints in our very slim-but-still-mathematically-possible play-off hopes! The top 5 are out of reach with the teams already occupying those positions done & dusted regarding automatic or play-off places - so the rest of us are all fighting for that magical 6th spot. Below is a complete list of who is yet to play who:

League 1 Table - Saturday April 10th:

--------------------PLYD---PTS---GD

6. HUDDERSFIELD......41........68.....18

7. COLCHESTER........41........68.....15

8. BRISTOL ROVERS...41........61.....-2

9. SOUTHAMPTON.....40........60.....31

10. MK DONS............41........58....-3

HUDDERSFIELD: Walsall (H), Millwall (H), Stockport (A), Colchester (H), Exeter (A).

COLCHESTER: Charlton (A), Hartlepool (A), Tranmere (H), Huddersfield (A), L Orient (H).

BRISTOL ROVERS: Southampton (H), Brentford (H), Brighton (A), Norwich (H), Leeds (A).

SOUTHAMPTON: Bristol Rovers (A), Yeovil (A), Oldham (H), Carlisle (H), Gillingham (A), Southend (H).

MK DONS: Oldham (H), Wycombe (H), Leeds (A), Brighton (H), Walsall (A).

Lets be honest, with Leeds and Norwich as their last two games, bye bye to Bristol Rovers, MK Dons can quite easily pick up 12 points, and I seriously reckon we can get 18 from our 6 games. Colchester and Hudds hopefully will draw and they both have one ****ty game in Millwall and Charlton. so looking at it in that way we're in, on goal difference.

However by then Norwich could be champions so we all know they might be in the party mood and leeds could be up to - at the moment we need to keep winning and do the biz against BR on tuesday

I've just had a study of the Huddersfield results since we beat them and they really are not playing very well at all.

Since we hammered them they have won 3 out of 7.

The victories have been against Orient who sacked the manager as they hit rock bottom, and they beat Oldham who ****ed all over them.

They lost 3-0 against Brentford yesterday who have nothing to play for.

Don't think Huddersfield will win 50% of there remaining games as the team is struggling.

Now people are ruling out Colchester's chances but beating Swindon 3-0 yesterday could kick start them IF they get anything out of Charlton who will need 3 points badly.

I think everyone knows we won't do that, lets be honest

I dont think everyone here are Nostradamuses, unlike your good self.

no one can know we wont win them all, just as no one can know we`ll win any.

However,some people think we will.

and they have a perfectly valid and reasonable opinion, especially considering our remaining fiixtures.

Why not win our next 6 games. Our last 6 games including the JPT we've won 5 and drew 1 and they were against much harder opposition. In my eyes if we beat Bristol well go on to win all of them.

Exactly.

Brizzol on Tuesday is our hardest game left, win that then we should win the others.

One game at a time though, it's win or bust on tuesday now :p

Gillingham away will be tough though, their home form is all that's keeping them above the bottom 4 - they are in the top 20 in the entire country with their home form, so it's not a banker by any means.

I think we'll probably beat rovers, I've got question marks over the yeovil one though. We should win it...but we should have won at Tranmere and Exeter etc...just seems to be engraved in the makeup of saints!

That's what I think - when the fixtures first came out I thought our easiest run was the last few games. And we'd then be going in to the playoffs with 11 wins in the last 12. Probably our hottest streak of form in over 100 years. If we win on Tuesday we will be very well placed.

Perhaps we should still be looking at Charlton's fixtures. I work with a couple of their fans who think their last chance for a win is Colchester tomorrow night! after that they have homes against Norwich and Leeds and trips to Exeter and Oldham hmmmm

Isnt this wrong? would this of happened Huddersfield would of been on 80?

of course that means 77 now ..

Colchester now will accumilate 76 if results go as you suspect

as we have tended to fall over when we least expect it I worry that carlise of all teams we may trip up against, they will want revenge more than most .. Nothing to lose & pride to gain.

think we will finnish on about 72 points myself

This stats and prediction malarky is mad... the form guide for the last 12 games has us second only to Millwall and with a points average that would see us sneak 6th if this carried on to Seasons end...just... Thing is without being 'negative' I can see both Huddesfield, and Colchester dropping the required points... we beat Brizzle and then its just down to us getting 13/15... and thats the great unknown as its not exactly Saints forte....

The good news as far as I am concerned is that if we take our season form after we hit zero points then our points average from that point onwards is exactly 2 per game - which is championship winning form.

What I'll find interesting is IF we manage to get into the top 6 (which we can actually do by the end of the matches a week today if all the results go our way) whether we'll be able to maintain the momentum when the pressure is suddenly on us.

I'm also hoping we get the chance to find out. ;)

Both Huddersfield and Colchester have one game they should each lose. The other games they should win. Thats 3 wins each and one defeat each, the crucial game is when they play each other. Anything other than a draw and it wont matter what we do.

If, and I know its a big, but possible if -

If we win our last 5 games we have 78 points.

That means Colchester will have to win all 4 of their games cos our goal difference is far superior to theirs.

Huddersfield would have to get 8 points from their last 4 games, so they either need to win 3 of them or win 2 and draw 2.

Millwall and Colchester are their big games, although a trip to Exeter will not be a walk over.

Come on you Saints !!

If we keep winning, i don't think we'll have to worry about Colchester. They have to play Huddersfield and a couple of other tricky away games, wouldn't give them a chance tbh.

it will come down to it being between us and huddersfield, hope we take it to the last day.

I have a feeling that a week from now we'll be within touching distance of 6th.

Win the next two, and they are extremely winnable, and you're right.

And, at that point, we then start really fu cking with the heads of Uddersfield and Colchester.

Two points off with a shi te hot goal difference with a couple of games to go might see our competitors crumble.

Yeovil away is the sort of game we have ****ed up so many times this season. I will happily take the spawniest of 1-0 Saints wins on Saturday, that combined with a Millwall win on Friday would be massively uplifting.

By the time they play Colchester, Colchester will be out of it anyway so we'll be wanting them to win. Millwall is obviously the game you'd expect them to drop points, but I'm predicting a shock draw for stockport.

If we throw it away at Yeovil i'll be devestated, huge game. Surely the pitch can't be too bad we've had quite a bit of decent weather recently.
