alpine_saint Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 I think the direct quote was "Alpine, Glasgow Saint and fat Stu Romsey Saint stick that in your pipe and smoke it". Don't shoot the messenger. I did almost drive off the M271 when I heard it. Probably 99% of the listeners had no idea what it was about. Bizarre. It's There Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 My kids first match, and they loved it!!!!!!!!! Me - poor game, Llalana brilliant, Otsemobor very poor. Still, should play better verses Charlton...within 8 points of playoffs for the first time this season.

Katalinic Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Bizarre. I would love to know when I have ever expressed the wish for Saints to lose I am not sure you have but it is your general negativity and tedency to look on the downside of everything that has built you a reputation. Take this post match thread - no comment on the result but you suddenly appear at the slightest hint that the players may have been out on the p*** - any opportunity to have a dig. To quote Strachan, "down negative man, down".
doddisalegend Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Just thought I'd say that Hammond was actually alright, it was Schneiderlin that was poor, he gave them the ball back a countless number of times. He looked a shadow of his former self. Anyway, Lallana saved our bacon today. Btw Lambert was ok, played quite a few good passes, but looked knackered and lacked appetite it seemed. In one crner in the second half he had three Orient players marking him he was surronded. Our side still punted it straight at him though](*,)

sidthesquid Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 I guess we just have to go home happy that it was job done. They did enough, just, and sometimes you just have to take that and be grateful. And as others have said, this was the sort of game we'd normally lose, so I'm just going to let this one pass. Onwards & upwards - the Charlton game will be a totally different affair

Under Weststand Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Sounds like a poor performance, but we do seem to be grinding out results at the moment. A win is a win & we have finally got under 10-points mark just 8-points from the play-off's. Still probably to much to make up, but you just never know in this game. St Marco Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Talk about over-reacting, anyone really surprised by the reaction on here? They had pretty much 1 shot for the entire 2nd half and we were "lucky to win"? How does that work?! We had an off day today. Too many players not involved in the game. But that being said we still had more chances then they did and always looked like the team more likely to win. They got an early goal and then mass defended. How many times have we seen that over the previous seasons and come away with nothing? We showed character to come back from behind and if Puncheon had taken his chances it would of been a bigger gap. What get's me is the team battle hard and win games and some slate them for it. Your never going to play every game like we have for majority of this season. We have played far better then that and still lost. The negativity by the crowd did not help matters. People need to get a grip and actually support the team ffs. Some of you are doing the whole moan when we lose, moan when we draw and moan when we win thing. The performances do not matter, what matters is we are not playing too well but still grinding out the results. That is something we have not seen at this club in a long long time. yorkie Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Can't comment on the performance from so far away - but a win is a win! What really matters is that WE all pull together for the next game - and another 3-points against Charlton. Huddersfield appear to be in the driving seat now and I bet all of their fns will fancy 3-points against Oldham. This is almost a derby game - can't be more than 20-miles between the cities! Will Oldham upset Huddersfield's momentum? I don't think so - but stranger things have happened. Just look at a game at a time - and then not worry about the other games until after the final whistle...looking more and more unlikely - once the top 5 hit 78-points there's only room for someone to make a mess of it and we might sneak in! We can't expect to win every game - equally we can't expect someone top buckle under pressure - can we? See you all next week against Charlton - see Blocks 1/2 & 3 not open yet! OldNick Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Under par performance. Morgan Semi and Puncheon all out of sorts. We were there for the taking today, fortunately AL saved the day. I have criticised AL on a few occasions, but that is due to my frustration that he could play the way he did today more often. Well done Adam more of that football please. Kelvin saved us 2 points with his brilliant 1 handed save. i was right in line and I was certain the ball was going in the top corner until KD saved. Motm AL not that there was much to beat to be fair ps I also heard the text re Alps GS and Stu. I dont understand why on this occasion Stu got stick!! benjii Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 I can't understand people moaning about Puncheon. Yeah, he had a couple of dodgy moments but he also showed moments of quality. If he played at 100% every game without fail he would be playing for a top Championship side because he is much better than League One standard. He played a great ball in to Waigo for the equaliser on Thursday and when we got the ball to him in dangerous positions today he looked dangerous. I concede that his corners weren't great though! doddisalegend Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Was anyone else impressed by Orients long throw ins? I don't know which player it was but he must be league ones version of Delap. Normally punting it out for a throw in is a safe bet for a defender under pressure but in this case it just gave Orient more chances to get it in the box. Stepgar Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 How many times have we, in the past, played people off the park only to come away from the game with diddly? 3 pts is all that matters at this stage of the season. Although I am slightly concerned about our current playing form. Even in the JPT we were not exceptional. All in my honest opinion of course. View From The Top Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Semi was woeful today but I thought Seabourne played well, in a no nonsense old fashioned CB style. Too often in the past we've lost games like this where results need to be ground out so whilst I was disappointed in the performance after so many outstanding ones at SMS this season, I'm relieved to actually see us grind a result out. Any Saints team in the last few years would have lost the physical battle and this match. We completely ran the first half. Unfortunately we didn't score early enough to get another before half-time and the second half was a bit nervy, albeit caused by punts in to our box rather than us being outplayed. All the same, there was not a single point in the match when I thought we would not win. It wasn't champagne but no one is every week.
