If you have some idea of what you want (size / amount to pay / brand / built in freeview etc) you cant do better than www.pricerunner.co.uk - compares the market for consumer electricals. I use it all the time.

http://www.unbeatable.co.uk is a good place for price comparison on TVs.

 

I've nearly always bought mine from Amazon, not always direct but from associates on there and stuff - never been a problem.
