The9 Posted 4 April, 2010 Share Posted 4 April, 2010 ffs, that tin pot outfit.... dear god, this league is crud..and yet, we are not as good as that lot Swindon are the best side I've seen at St Mary's this season, with the possible exception of Saints on occasions. Said when they beat us that either they or Millwall would finish 2nd. They were pretty cack at County Ground at the start of the season, but we were worse. Can't really complain that the only side in this league to beat us twice is going to go up.

anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Not sure what the point of this thread is. Swindon are there on merit. I actually went to the Leeds-Swindon game on Saturday as my brother is a Town fan and we were up North for Easter. Once they got the first goal they completely dominated Leeds who were very unimpressive (laughable that Beckford got L1 player of season ahead of Lambert). They scored good goals and every player knows exactly what his role is and plays exactly the way the manager wants. They've worked the loan system well and have picked up a few Scottish players on the cheap. Are they better than Saints? The table doesn't lie and as my brother pointed out in the first half of the season they conceded many late goals and could easily have more points. On the other hand if Saints played to their potential they would comfortably beat Swindon but the league is about consistency. Pardew will hopefully work this out over the summer. Wilson knows this division inside out and had a half season to get to know his squad and then the summer to prepare properly.
Thedelldays Posted 6 April, 2010 Author Share Posted 6 April, 2010 Adrian, without the -10 Norwich and Leeds would still be above us. So yes, they are better also
dickyhale Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 ffs, that tin pot outfit.... dear god, this league is crud..and yet, we are not as good as that lot Think you find they beat us home and away this seasons and at Swindon could have beat us by more. Not to bad ah
Andyb1 Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 Swindon are the best team we have played at St Mary's this season, so they are there by merit. they have done the double over Leeds, both 3-0 scorelines. They aren't ''crud''. Comon, we could have been about 5 up at half time. My brother is a Swindon fan and he said it was embarresing in the first half. Norwhich were far far supirior. LostBoys Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 Swindon are a good hardworking well organised side with a couple of in form strikers. Good luck to them it shows what consistency can do for you. If promoted I think they willstruggle in the Championship but look at Notts Forest with Billy Davies. Saint Samuel Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 I'm originally from Hungerford, so got a lot of mates that are Swindon fans. They seem to have a good hard working squad with one or two outstanding players like Austin (I begrudingly admit), their last game of the season is away to Millwall, so that could be the potential play off decider. Kingsbridge Saint Posted 8 April, 2010 Share Posted 8 April, 2010 The Premier League contains Hull City, Burnley, Stoke and Wigan. You just need to win football matches, tin pot or not.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 8 April, 2010 Share Posted 8 April, 2010 The Premier League contains Hull City, Burnley, Stoke and Wigan. You just need to win football matches, tin pot or not. You are right though you forgot about the other really small tin pot club from down the road (On reflection you probably left them out as they will not be there for much longer thankfully)
Junior Mullet Posted 8 April, 2010 Share Posted 8 April, 2010 There on merit. Good team and they played good football when they played at SMS. Good luck to them. Sport needs teams like Swindon because it shows you don't have to spend a fortune to progress.
The9 Posted 8 April, 2010 Share Posted 8 April, 2010 Bristol Rovers? Conceded two goals against us at St Mary's (admittedly scored 3), didn't work as hard as Swindon, have already lost to us in the FA Cup since at their place too.
SaintRobbie Posted 9 April, 2010 Share Posted 9 April, 2010 ffs, that tin pot outfit.... dear god, this league is crud..and yet, we are not as good as that lot Hate to say I told you so again, but I did warn everyone last season about Swindon as we cascaded down under Lowe... mind you even I am surprised they are where they are now.
