Deppo Posted 2 April, 2010 Share Posted 2 April, 2010 Your thoughts please. I am putting a tenner on Haye to stop Ruiz in the sixth round.
SuperMikey Posted 2 April, 2010 Share Posted 2 April, 2010 I think Haye is overrated tbh, and Ruiz is one of the best in the world. Ruiz to KO Haye in the fourth for me, and I won't be held responsible if this happens!

The Cat Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Internet stream, although I might pay as I do really like Haye and with Hayemaker Promotions putting on the show at least the money goes primarily to him. Would have gone to the fight if it was in London, seen Haye live 4 times previously. If Haye doesn't win this he might as well quit. Ruiz has been pretty inactive over the past 5 or so years and not particularly impressive when he has fought. He does have a good chin (only been stopped once, by David Tua I think) but Haye should be able to create enough angles and openings to force a stoppage by the mid rounds. If it does go on any longer then Ruiz has a chance on points but Haye's stamina in hugely better than it was even 3 years ago. Win this. Pay Valuev to sidestep his contracted rematch and let's get a Klitchsko in the ring. Heavyweight boxing needs that to happen.

bungle Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Haye to win by knockout. His speed and power will be too much, although Ruiz is pretty decent and generally under-rated. Ruiz can win if he manages to make it more of a brawl, but I think Haye's speed will be the decisive factor.

chrisobee Posted 4 April, 2010 Share Posted 4 April, 2010 That was certainly more like it after the Valuev fight where the size difference made for a very dull fight. Ruiz took a right beating, credit to him for surviving as long as he did but I fully expect and hope he'll call it a day now. Of course it now has to be Haye v the Klitchos, they are certainly not going to fight each other. Time to pay Valuev whatever he wants to step aside as the mandatory challenger, not a fight the Heavyweight division needs at all.
chrisobee Posted 4 April, 2010 Share Posted 4 April, 2010 Yeah, nice one Deppo. Well I think he would have stopped most boxers within 6 rounds, Ruiz is so durable but had little else to offer even if Haye was not overly happy with his own performance. Johnny Shearer Posted 4 April, 2010 Share Posted 4 April, 2010 Ruiz did take a beating. Not one who follows boxing at all therefore is that usual for Ruiz? I nkow he beat and drew with Evander but was thinking during the fight that maybe Haye doesn't quite have the power? Thoughts? Good win though by Haye. I was willing Ruiz to knock the smug **** out. he is what the heavy weight division needs...someone who is articulate, c**ky and also with a good style of boxing.. how many bouts have we seen when two great oafs just grapple each other, or both quite defensive in the past..? Haye is a breath of fresh air IMO...also, he admitted to quite a few mistakes afterwards.. all the bravado is played out as an act in the build up to a fight.. Totally agree, boxing is one sport where you absolutely need to adopt a brash, ****y attitude but having followed his fights for some years my impression is that he is an articulate, likeable guy. Love to see him take on the Klitschkos now.

Exactly, he needed to be like that before the Valuev fight in particular as his fee was based on the box office sales, the more he spouted rubbish and insulted Valuev, the more the public bought into it as a personal duel. He's a clever and talented lad, hope he can **** both Ukranians.
