SuperMikey Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 I won't be going out in Fleet any time soon, don't worry. I have equally average Winchester on my door step. Basingstoke is better by a country mile, and that's saying something. Which night is student night in Winchester? Not been there before, got to try mediochrity (sp?) at least once I always say... tpbury Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Deny the hangover. Do not let the threat of a hangover enter your mindspace. Have children, getting up before you go to bed will seem normal.

This Thursday was packed and there was so many people from school/college who I haven't seen in a year(s) so for that reason it was great. Oh, and cheap drinks. I actually really like Winch but there's a lot better out there! I guess it's good when you know so many people. Try it!

Thursday was the last day of term for the students and it coincided with cheap night at the Pitcher and Piano. Wednesday is usually the night that you have to avoid the total f*ckwits playing pub golf or dressing up as complete arseholes and annoying normal people. I might try Winch this week, depending on whether I can raise the funds or not... I've been down to the Railway Inn a couple of times before for some gigs, but not been any further than that into Winchester. Is it quite an upper class area? Don't particularly fancy partying the night away with a whole bunch of Hugo's and Percy's rubbing up my ar$e.
Robsk II Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Winch is not actually a great night. Most of the late night things are just the usual rubbish, full of c*nts. The Railway is often decent, and the Black Boy is a nice little boozer. Otherwise, don't bother unless you're happy with just drinking around pubs. There used to be a decent little place called the North Pole, but that shut ages ago and it was possibly not as good as I recall it to have been. SuperMikey Posted 3 April, 2010 Share Posted 3 April, 2010 Cheers Robsk, have to bear that in mind. I only really travel to go to clubs, it's a 3 minute walk/stumble to my local boozer so if I want to go to a pub i'll go there tbh. Supposed to be pretty pricey down in Winch as well, and a cheap night out is top of my priority list. On a side note - where is good in Southampton? I use good in the relative sense, as in 'not sh!t'. Looks like i'm going to be at Soton Uni for the next few years, so i'd quite like to skip all the rubbish nights out at sh!t clubs/bars/pubs in favour of heading straight for the good stuff. Only places I really know are Oceana and the Square Balloon, but Oceana was gash when I went last, and only ever walked past the SB a few times and noticed the cheap drink billboards outside. Redondo Saint Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 A packet of crisps, anadin extra and a coke. Works a treat and you don't have to spend time making it or go out somewhere. I always stock up on it when I am over. If you have a very bad hangover then replace the coke with an ice cold lager.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 5 April, 2010 Share Posted 5 April, 2010 Sod going to pubs in Winch - I don't go on an night out to go to pubs. You do get the posh tw*ts in Winch, but as I have previously said, there's a LOT of people in Winch who I know, so it's great to go out and see so many mates, cheap drinks, and have a right laugh. Southampton is better as a whole.

saint_stevo Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 Been to Jaxx before, fulla ho bags. Winchester- Bar 31 about the only place to go.... Town- Whitehouse is ok sometimes.....Aura is decent to start off, pretty cheap, loadsa fanneh in Buddha as well, but usually packed out. Seymours not bad for a crack. Cure to a hangover is Dr Pepper and Nurofen, IMO

Thedelldays Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 I'm only 24 mate, a mere baby back in the day of a (legendary) place call The Rythem Station in aldershot....those were the times..and then on to hastings pier but slutskys on a sunday night was always a must..£1 a pint if I remember rightly.. the times in new yorks around 97-98 (for some reason) the place always divided by some rivalry between those of us from millbrook/shirley warren to those from the other side of the itchen.. Leisure world opening ended the life of new yorks and mckuskys anyway
dubai_phil Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 No doubt about it, Nurofen or Ibuprofen. There was a Scientist on Sky News on New years Eve who explained the science behind it. Dehydration from the alochol causes the water between the brain and your skull to shrink causing your brain to swell and bang against the inside of your skull. The anti-inflamatory properties of Ibuprofen stops that from happening. End of. Mind you it totally fooks your liver but hey they can transplant those. Without Nurofen this weird city would be another ****hole ME town. With it, it is just another stopping off point in the queue for a Liver transplant. Never leave home without them. If p*ssed then 200mg if mortalled then 400mg if beyond beer scooter then a litre of water and 400mg That is all But a BJ helps of course
dubai_phil Posted 6 April, 2010 Share Posted 6 April, 2010 Back on the subject of clubbing. Would it be worth 30 quid to go and see Athlete, The Futureheads, Grand Master Flash and some **** (DJ Zane Lowe from Radio One? Our local gaff has a big night organised this week and clubs here tend to be more "almost a Grand-dad friendly" than anywhere in the UK?

The Futureheads are very good live as well. Not seen Athlete or Grandmaster Flash, but I reckon they'd both be good as well. Go for it Grandad! bug187 Posted 7 April, 2010 Share Posted 7 April, 2010 HANGOVER CURE = H20 + DIAZEPAM + HEALTHY FOOD + A GOOD SLEEP. End of discussion. Alcohol is a poison worse than most illegal drugs out there. The NHS struggles to cope. You're more likely to die choking on your own vomit than by doing a pill or snorting cocaine. Media hype. Love it. Keep reading the Daily Fail. Live by media sensationalism. That'll help society no bounds.
