SaintsWeb Forum - Now better on your mobile phone

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've just set SaintsWeb up on Tapatalk, which enables those of you with more sophisticated phones to use the forum like an app, instead of through your web browser.

Current support is for iPhone, Android and Nokias, with a "test" version for Blackberry also available.

To read more about how to set it up on your phone, visit:

If the take up and feedback from you all is good, we will properly "style" it to SaintsWeb.

Define, "more sophisticated", please.

I tried a few times to access this site from my Nokia, and the page was too damn big for the screen.

Did you try using Tapatalk? Did you actually read my post?

Of course I did. I want to know which phones you mean. The bit about my previous attempts to access this site wasnt really relevant, it was just to indicate that they werent too successful.

Can you give a technical requirement, if you cant give phone model numbers ?

Won't this encourage people actually at the match to post on the matchday threads? Surely we don't want that? It will distort the views of those who know better by following Merry Merrington and Soccer Saturday. No good at all!

I aint paying for an app!

I was just replying on my phone saying that i'd downloaded the free ap for my android. But it wouldn't let me send it cause i only had the free version. Good to use to view though

Not 100% sure of the compatibility on each phone types apart from Blackberry (as I have one).

There is a version of the app that works with OS version 4.5 and 4.6 (8820 and 8320 models), and a version for OS 4.7+ (8900, 9000, Bold, Storm).

Annoyingly, my 8320 has what appears to be a bloody ancient version of the OS (4.2!), so I'm going to have to upgrade that before it'll work.

No need to pay if you just want to read posts. You only need to pay to post/pm. Alternatively there are routes to get the paid app for free

Couldn't find the app on the android market on my phone but I could on a PC.

I did. Search for "tapatalk"

Download that and install then search for saintsweb.

Judging from their twitter feed, the official twitter app for blackberry is VERY close:

Getting ready on BlackBerry release on AppWorld. Will be a free app for next liitle while until the quality becomes satifatory.

I did.

I found Affspot from Tapatalk development which is described as Affiliate marketing information, education and community.

Is that what I'm looking for? It certainly doesn't sound like it.

This maybe a silly question, but to paper and pen person, what is the advantage of this access over the web on the phone?

None other than you can do it out and about.

Thanks, so far I've had no problems with using safari out and about but good to have an alternative especially if it's easier to navigate.

That has to rate as the easiest thing today. Install, click on your item in the "new" list and login. Easier to find posts and follow threads than it is on this PC!!

Much easier than having to agree to the latest t&c's from the Apple app store, which took bloomin ages.

Might subscribe now :)

Cheers Baj... good work.

Nice one Baj - works a treat on the iPhone - just what I've been waiting for - no more pinching and stretching on Safari (in the words on Christopher biggins)

Just tried the free version of the iphone app, looks really good.

Just checked the match thread and 5 pages on the forum is spread over 23 pages on the app, but overall is SO MUCH EASIER to navigate than zooming in and attempting to select a specific page number.

Is this a permanent development? If so I will buy the full app.

Cheers Baj.

Good work guys. Viewing the forum on the Android browser is actually pretty easy (no need to pinch and zoom and crap) but this is better still. If I can view one other forum in that I might even buy the full version.

Torres, ask the admin of the forum to install it, it literally took 10 minutes, and thats including me reading all about it first, actual install took about 2 mins!

Yes, as you know we are switching to version 4 of this forum soon, however the forum will still support it.

ignore my thread on tech then! And granty- 4.2? Oh dear, does the 8320 not do the over-the-air update?

Yes, usually in the middle of a ****ing call!

I'll do a manual upgrade later today.
