saint_stevo Posted 31 March, 2010 Share Posted 31 March, 2010 I thought Antonio was terrific all-round at Wembley. Maybe the enforced cuptied changes made a difference and the system suited his style of play better, who knows, but I thought he was great on the day. I totally agree fwiw
St Landrew Posted 31 March, 2010 Share Posted 31 March, 2010 I think the comparison is flawed because Alex has been at United for 43 years and is a f u cking God. Oh and has spent in excess of £600m on players during that period. But hey, otherwise perfect comparison. I think you're being a bit generous there, LGTC. Wasn't Ferguson's first season so mediocre that it was thought he might lose his job..? He had to change the culture at ManU, in their particular case, a drinking one. He made 11th place [don't bother, I looked it up] and the next season managed 2nd after splashing out on a fair few leading players of the time, although they already had a perfectly capable squad. Pardew has had to change a losing culture. He appears to be ahead of the game.
chrisobee Posted 31 March, 2010 Share Posted 31 March, 2010 I totally agree fwiw Well given it's probably the 1st time in 9,000 + posts you've agreed with someone it's probably worth a fair bit!

Tac-tics Posted 31 March, 2010 Share Posted 31 March, 2010 Anotnio is still so raw and I cant believe I'm going to say this but I agree he is'nt good enough, yet, to be considered a must starter, due to him being raw it makes anything he does either brilliant but when he's crap, oh he is crap. Decent enough point. I wouldn't have been so harsh as to say that he can be so dreadful but I agree at times his rawness causes us problems, but he's going to be a very handy player for us if we can get him permanently. And actually I'd consider giving him a start against Brighton, especially considering how poorly Puncheon has been playing recently.
sadoldgit Posted 1 April, 2010 Share Posted 1 April, 2010 Time after time on here I hear a small but vocal minority on this forum who seem intent on undermining Alan Pardew. With comments about some supposed bust-up with Cortesse, or misquoting some dodgy peice of journalism. So far this season (league wise) we have lost 8 matches. So in your eyes AP must go. So far this season (in fewer matches played) Manure have lost 6 matches and Aresnal have lost 5. Are you sugesting Ferguson and Wenger must go. Norwich (6 defeats) and Leeds (7) both in automatic promotion spots have lost only 1 and 2 less than us respectively. We had virtually no pre-season. Have had almost a total change of personnel (with all the team bonding problems that brings), and the first 10 matches with alot of the dregs from last years squad was at best described as cr@p. What is it with some of you guys? Do you take some perverted pleasure in winding people up, or do you really believe some of the venomous drivel that you write on here some times. At the beginning of the season we would all have been happy with a mid-table finish. With 9 games to go we have already achieved that. We have had a good day out at the JPT and brought back the first bit of silver in decades. And there is even a very, very remote chance if everything falls our way of making the playoffs. Pardew out? You must be acomplete and utter zoomer I agree with you. Sadly there are a number of "utter zoomers" on here who seem to think that the way forward is to sack a manager every 6 months if they don't win every game! Pardew is doing a good job and should be given time to complete that job. Yet every time we get a poor result (and every team gets poor results) then his job is up for grabs. It is beyond stupid. St Landrew Posted 1 April, 2010 Share Posted 1 April, 2010 (edited) Name one poster who has demanded Pardew be sacked. Come on, you cant do it, can you ? Of course he can't, but we all know what he means. He is deliberately exaggerating the point to give it weight. Sometimes it helps debate if people attempt to understand the point being made, then perhaps posters wouldn't resort to hyperbole. EDIT: And BTW, that goes for all sides.
