docker-p Posted 31 March, 2010 Share Posted 31 March, 2010 Wouldn't be so sure, we had a county border to county border escort all the way home from newcastle once on clive's coach and when we tried pulling over in service stations they refused to let us off , all because they say they found pellets in someone jacket while searching everyones belongings on the coach as the match went on . Had a similar experience coming back from Sheff Wednesday in '84 on Andy Jealous's Monster coach.
Toadhall Saint Posted 1 April, 2010 Share Posted 1 April, 2010 Good idea Stu but you'll have OB crawling all over you/the coach. Tell me again whats the rule/law on drinking alcohol on a coach? Once that starts to happen you'll find it hard to get a coach company to supply the coach.
StuRomseySaint Posted 1 April, 2010 Author Share Posted 1 April, 2010 (edited) It is not illegal to drink on coaches. As long as Stu puts some black bin bags up and people clear up any mess if made then it won't be a problem. We often get coaches for weekends away and they let us drink providing we clear up after ourselves. It is legal to drink on coaches for anything apart from football. It is illegal to drink on any for of hired transport en-route to any football match. Edited 1 April, 2010 by StuRomseySaint
StuRomseySaint Posted 1 April, 2010 Author Share Posted 1 April, 2010 You are indeed correct. Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?ActiveTextDocId=1300758 Essentially it's illegal to possess alcohol, drink alcohol, or be drunk on a vehicle principally being used to convey passengers to specific sporting events. Also for private vehicles > 8 passengers the driver and hirer cannot knowingly allow it to take place, so a coach driver is perfectly entitled to prevent alcohol being brought on board, and also confiscate it (the alternative is to kick them off if they don't agree!) Most drivers also tend to 'turn a blind eye' to people drinking in exchange for a few quid...
Dan Posted 1 April, 2010 Share Posted 1 April, 2010 No gimps I would say. .....that rules out the majority of this forum from using the coach.

As I say tho' the OB will be all over it especially if you are making it a regular thing. One sniff of wrong doing ie alcohol and that will be just the excuse they need.
