Redbul Posted 29 March, 2010 Share Posted 29 March, 2010 With April 1st looming and Ordnance Survey making some it's data free to use, I was wondering what GIS freeware people may be considering downloading to take advantage of this? There are a couple I'm having a look at; just downloading something called MicroDEM to have a play with.

Redbul Posted 30 March, 2010 Author Share Posted 30 March, 2010 Nowhere near the functionality of ArcMap or MapInfo, but then you have to pay for those. Still looking for a good free GIS....

Redbul Posted 22 April, 2010 Author Share Posted 22 April, 2010 This is more like it.... http://www.qgis.org/ Been mucking around with this and it's a powerful bit of kit. Trouble is, all the free OS data takes up a lot of disc space so I've had to chuck it all on an external drive which slows things up a tad, but other than that....
