scotty Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Did anybody else at the game notice the rolling adverts that said "OVER 185 DECORATING CENTRES" and think like I did that it was promoting "OVER 18S DECORATING CENTRES"? I was all set to find out where these dens of iniquity were and phone the wife to tell her to get her credit card out, we're going to this cracking new DIY store, before I twigged
Andy_Porter Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Are there any places in Southampton that stock Johnstone's paint? I might start using it instead of Wickes and Dulux now after yesterday...
SNSUN Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I usually think scrolling ads on the side of pitches are a distraction, but I didn't think those were too bad. Colourful (in keeping with the sponsor I'm sure) and the "Congratulations Southampton" was excellent.
OldNick Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I found them offputting, especially in the first half
Saint_clark Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I didn't find them offputting, but a player looking across the pitch must find them a nuisance.
70's Mike Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 funny thing is until we played in their competition i had never heard of their paint, and not likely to buy it anyway
Andy_Porter Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 funny thing is until we played in their competition i had never heard of their paint' date=' and not likely to buy it anyway[/quote'] I've been looking out for it recently and haven't seen Johnstones paint anywhere, I think it must be a northern brand.
scotty Posted 29 March, 2010 Author Posted 29 March, 2010 I've been looking out for it recently and haven't seen Johnstones paint anywhere, I think it must be a northern brand. as its apparently restricted to the over-18s, it'll be on the top shelf next to razzle. hth;)
RonManager Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 funny thing is until we played in their competition i had never heard of their paint' date=' and not likely to buy it anyway[/quote'] They have supplied the paint for the Forth Bridge since it was built. Nice contract.
hamster Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 They have supplied the paint for the Forth Bridge since it was built. Nice contract. Working up there must be one of the coldest, windiest jobs going. Definitely need two coats.
saint boggy Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Are there any places in Southampton that stock Johnstone's paint? I might start using it instead of Wickes and Dulux now after yesterday... i'm sure i've seen it in The Range.....
StuRomseySaint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I found them offputting, especially in the first half in other words..... ..... they worked.

It can be bought from the industrial paint supplier that is located in the industrial park next to dock gate 10
cellone Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 As a decorator I wouldn't reccomend Johnstone's paint. I've been given it to use in the past and found it to be gutless. Fair play for the sponsorship of the cup, maybe I'll reccomend it in future (to competitor's).

I use Dulux Weathershield on exterior wood and metalwork and wood, although their 8 year guarantee is optimistic. Williamsons is ok, but thin in pigment, and Tekaloid is not very good with spot heating. Am I boring anyone yet?

RonManager Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Is it dry yet? Ah now, if it's quick drying you want then Dacrylate is your man. Mind you, their version of black is more like a very, very, very, dark grey.
hackedoff Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 The gas holders next to SMS were going to be painted a while back to resemble a big pint of Guiness. This idea was dropped as ,as the holders go up and down the " pint " would turn a sh*tty brown colour, so they were painted a sh*tty brown colour anyway. Dont know who made the paint .
prideofthesouth Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Are there any places in Southampton that stock Johnstone's paint? I might start using it instead of Wickes and Dulux now after yesterday... How about the Johnstone's Paint shop in Hedge End?
Saint137 Posted 30 March, 2010 Posted 30 March, 2010 One of the units on the industrial estate behind the Chapel sell it, had a big banner up after the Area Final...
