How would you feel if someone was stood up infront of your child or frail relative meaning they couldn't see the penalty?

I'm guessing your avatar is your child. If someone stood in front of your child, would you not be a tad annoyed?

.

We were behind the goal and even when stood up, my lad couldn't see too well as everyone in front was stood as well. It doesn't bother me that much, but my little lad couldn't see (they were stood for most of the game). Asked the guys in front to sit down, but they came out with all this "we support the side properly" nonsense (funny how they missed 2 goals by going for a beer). There were some guys from further round who saw what was going on and offered to swap seats with us (which was great of them). Dont really know what the answer is, I guess next time I'll get tickets higher up, where they wont allow any standing.

I tend to go with the flow, but when it spoils my little lads enjoyment, I'm going to say something. If that makes me a crap supporter, then I guess I am.

As long as it is in a designated area where if you buy a tickets you are made aware it will be like that then I have no problem with standing.

Thats right.

Standing for a pen is ok, jumping up when we score or go close is ok. The issue I had was with people standing the whole game. I'm 6ft 2" so it doesn't bother me, but my little one couldn't see. Had I known I'd have got tickets elsewhere and then all the people who wanted to stand, could stand together and everyone else could sit.

****ing hell. Anyone thinking that it would be better to sit down for a penalty at a final at Wembley is an absolute boring arsehole. It was said all over here that behind the goal in the bottom tier would be a standing area too.

Did all Saints fans before they booked tickets read this forum?

Did others all around the stadium stand not just behind the goal? Yes.

I'd rather be a "boring but considerate to others arsehole" than a selfish d!ck. :)

I was in an aisle seat. I can't remember if I was standing for the penalty or not, but it's better sitting on the aisle IMO. (Aside from standing up every bleeding 30 seconds to let somebody go for a pee/burger/beer/**** knows what people are doing instead of watching Saints play at Wembley...)

Driver on the tube to Wembley before the game;

"Hello this is your driiiiiiiiiiiver....unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances in the Wembley area todays match has had to be cancelled......just kidding. Please ensure you take all personal belongings with you, although personally I don't see why a ticket for Southampton V Carlisle in a paint pot trophy would be worth anything. Then again i'm a Tottenham fan so what do I know. Hope you Saints fans get the result you want, have a nice day".

Legend.

I'd much rather the enjoyment of 43,500 standing up in excitement to watch a penalty than sit down and be considerate to the people that were unable to stand. What do they expect in a cup final at Wembley for **** sake?

I thought I was in an aisle seat, being Seat No.1. But no, I was in the middle of the row - dead centre of the stadium behind the goal. I was, in effect, a meridian and could, therefore, not join in with the 'we're the left side/right side over here' songs.

We were stood throughout and nobody complained.

How did standing make the penalty any better? You'd have seen exactly the same thing if you were sat down and then jumped up when Lambert scored. In doing so everybody could have seen it rather than just those that were stood up.

Funniest things were the three or four people who kept berating fellow fans way up in block 550 for not joining in with their chanting. We're not proper supporters apparently if we don't want to shoot the Pompey scum or to stand up if we love the Saints. However all of this exclusive band of star supporters missed the goals before and after half time because their need for beer exceeded their need to support the team or even watch the game.

I couldn't understand why so many people were leaving 10 mins before half time, after all this was our team playing at Wembley and they were more interested in beer!! I had trouble seeing the Carlisle goal.

About 5 mins after the start of the 2nd half 3 lads were returning to there seats when one of them turned to the others on seeing the score to complain he'd only seen 1 goal.

Serves him right :)

Were you in the club Wembley seats in block 250? Your description sounds like a couple of the lads I went with. One of whom fell asleep in the second half and was only woken by the surrounding fans shouting 'wake up sleepy head'. He opened one eye and said 'I had a funny feeling that I might have been asleep'. :p

We decided to walk from our Hotel to Waterloo this morning, to clear our heads after a fantastic day and great evening.

As we passed St Paul's we noticed a single white balloon on the steps - which obviously called for a brief game of 'keep it up' - only to discover on the first kick that it had the club crest on the other side!

I have a feeling that there will be quite a few Saints balloons in London over the next few years.

Not a funny comment but the bloke who was enthusiastically 'mooning' every passing Saints bus on the M40 yesterday did enliven a otherwise tedious journey back ..... oh and a special mention goes to 'Ricky's Mum' as well - what a splendid women you undoubtedly are :D

She was very nice and his Aunt we had our picture taken with them and a bit of a chat

My 7yo nipper stands on his seat at away games or I ask people to swap seats so he can see.

You are either very good and fishing or a total mong.

I'll let my fellow posters decide.

Weirdo.

I'd rather be a wierdo than an inconsiderate buffoon that is only concerned with watching the game how they like, rather than taking into account spoiling it for others. Which is the exact position you have taken.

Thanks, I would rather be an inconsiderate buffoon than a weirdo.

I think you have bridged the gap and managed both because you are unable to counter any of my points with anything approaching a coherent argument.

Right are you

b) a pregnant woman

c) a dwarf

Anyone who chooses to sit down (as opposed to have to) when a penalty is about to be taken at a Wembley final gets what they deserve.

What if the have no choice and have to sit due to frailty or kids or lack of height?

I stood for the penalty but on because I was forced to do so because the rows in front of me did. The frail elderly gentleman behind me with a walking stick was obstructed by 6 foot of me and remained seated and missed it. If everyone had remained seated he would have seen the goal.

Bloke behind me "we could just do with a second goal before half time"

30 seconds later we scored our second goal :-)

Ooh I said that. It might have been me - but then again I expect many others said similar.

FWIW I also said we could do with a quick goal after half-time as well..........:smt035

Its nothing to do with boredom.

Its about letting little kids and disabled people share the moment.

No, I'm 27 year old and 6 foot 1 .

However I was forced to stand for the penalty due to those in front doing so and I obstructed the view of an elderly man behind me. He remained seated as he was too frail to keep standing up and missed the goal. If however everyone was seated, everyone would have had an unobstructed view.

I really can't understand why so many in this thread think that this is ok!!!

I was sat near an elderly couple, both of whom must have been in their seventies, whose day out was nearly ruined because two youthful looking lads decided to stand directly in front of them for the first half, meaning they couldn't see anything.

Do you think it's fair that those two fans had their day out at Wembley ruined?

How did the elderly man get to his seat??? I presume he used his legs, I expect he could of used them for the penalty.
