If you won £5m...

I would keep approx £100,000 incase of emergencies in later life.

The rest I would give to charities that I thought were genuine and could actually make a difference if they received a donation. This I would have to research.

I really wouldn't want my life changed in anyway by a huge amount of money, and the pressure/burden that it would inevitably become.

I'd spend £1m on various properties, becaise despite value going down and up, barring disasters, I believe you can't go wrong with property and rent will always be a valuable asset to be able to take from people legitimately. I'd give £1m to my parents and let them retire etc. I might give £1m to the rest of my family, split between various people. £1m I'd give to charity, one in particular; I have a friend building an orphanage in Rwanda and I know she'll not be frivolous with the money and use it to make a genuine impact on many people's lives. I guess I'd keep £500,000 in a high interest account, and then live reasonably well from rent paid to me and any other bits of the money left over, whilst working freelance on something without having to worry about making too much cash. maybe write a book or something, but probably not work for anyone else, put it that way.

I would go on Channel 4's secret milonaire program and meet lots of needy people with good causes. Then at the end of the show, I would surprise them all by telling them all that actually i was not just a volunteer worker, but i had five million in he bank and i wanted to help.

At that point I would write out to cheques to give to the needy, however, the amounts that I gave would be pathetic compared to the splendid wealth that I have. For example 'you've spent the last 40 years helping others, here is £500 get your self something nice'

People on the face of it would be appear quite grateful, but actually they and the viewers would think that i was a tight `b4sta$d'

What would you do?

I would buy this house

Reckon I could get it for £1.5m, would probably spend £250k doing a few extra bits to it, I would want a pool, sauna and steam room.

I'd spend £500k on cars too, with a nice sports car as well as a top of the range Range Rover or Audi Q7.

That would leave me with £2.75m. I would invest this into a bank account which would give me a rate in the region of 6.50% (I'm sure you could get better). This works out (before tax) at £178.5k p.a interest which I would more than confortably live off. I'd employ a full time maid/cook too to run around after me.

I would certainly retire now. Sod working for another 40 years! If inflation got to the point where my money wasnt worth a great deal sat in the bank, I would probably return to work then but for the time being I would happily live like a king!

That's a PO postcode - are you a skate?:chain:

Yes it is a PO post code. Although strangely it comes under Winchester City Council?!

No I am not a skate. I was born and bred in Boswell Close in Thornhill. My parents then moved to Sarisbury Green (SO31 post code) when I was about 4 or 5.

They then came into a bit of money and moved down Titchfield Lane when I was 20. I would of moved out then but the house has a indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, tennis courts and a horse menage & stable which teh Mrs loved. Aswell as a kick a$$ hall which I threw many a party in.

I decided to stay there for 3 years until I moved out with teh Mrs. I currently live in Fareham, which yes, is still a PO post code. The houses in our preferred location Lockheath/Warsash/Sarisbury Green which is an SO post code which we could of afforded were small and pokey and more expensive. Fareham is apparently in the top 5 places to bring up kids nowadays too! However I am a Saint through and through, always have been and always will be.

That was my life, now gimme my god damn red book
