iansums Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I thought he was magnificent yesterday, yet again! Especially when you consider he was playing out of position. If it wasn't for Lambert then Harding would get my vote for Player of the season, he has been so consistent and has a great attitude.
Guest flickjax Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Yeap, had robson in his pocket so well that he lost it and kept trying to foul harding I believe we were lucky that Thomas/James werent fit enough as they may have been skinned down that wing.

Foxstone Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 In the first half, Carlisle kept playing the ball out left with the thought perhaps, that the out of position Harding would struggle against Robson. How wrong they were! Harding dealt with everything superbly and took pressure offf young Mills at left back in the process. Great performance from one of our finest acquisitions.
SNSUN Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 My favourite current Saints player. Such a good football brain, good defending and going forward, and he's now proved how versatile he is. If we had a massive centre back shortage, height aside I feel he can read the game as well as Perry, and would have no qualms about putting him there.
Pilsmer Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 There were a couple of times yesterday that I thought the winger was passed him but he got back very quickly on both occasions and snuffed it out. I agree that he was excellent. I also thought Mills did well on the other side.
S-Clarke Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Such a good and consistant player. 7's every week, and then you still get the odd 8/9 from him as well. Signing of the season on a free.
Shroppie Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Agreed with all of the above. Could we transplant his left foot onto his right leg?
iansums Posted 29 March, 2010 Author Posted 29 March, 2010 Agreed with all of the above. Could we transplant his left foot onto his right leg? It would certainly be very nice to have a RB as good as Harding is at LB. I'm not convinced abouit Otsemebor.
Gingeletiss Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Seem to remember, he was bought into the team as a left back that could play on the right. AP's done that with a few of his signings IMO.
Suhari Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 He was superb. There was a moment half way through the first half when Robson had the ball, knocked it past Harding and tried to beat him for pace. Harding gave a 'you have to be kidding' look, beat him over 15ish yards, took the ball, turned inside and casually laid the ball off. Pure class, and got a deserved round of applause.
Wes Tender Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 One of my favourite players and a superb bit of business getting him in. It is easy to give player of the season to Lambert out of sentimentality for a striker and to overlook the contribution that Harding makes week in, week out. Yes, Lambert's goals contribute to the number of wins we have, but if we let in more goals at the other end, it could easily have negated the prowess of the goal scorers. When we have a back line including Harding, Fonte and Jaidi, the contribution they make is immense and not to be under-estimated.
Clifford Nelson Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 It will be a long time before we get another free transfer of the quality of Harding. Without Lambert's goals he surely would have been signing of the season, if not over many seasons.
St Landrew Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 There was one moment where Carlisle got down the flank, after Harding took a corner. Their keeper caught it and quickly threw it to a forward, who clipped it past our last defender. It was only the speed of the defence coming back, and the Carlisle forward's inability to find his teammate steaming in that stopped a potential goal. Not really a mistake by Harding, but the only time I remember them getting any change out of him. Of course, the goal came from a free kick in his area. People on here have been less than glowing about Mills. No, he isn't as good as Harding, but I thought he came in and played very well.

I actually thought he did as well as he could then, since he managed to clip the player, breaking his stride, but not enough to send him tumbling, and that allowed the other defenders to get back into position. I think if the forward hadn't been clipped, he'd have been able to concentrate more on finding their other attacker on the far wing and they probably would have scored. However, my mate saw it differently. I believe he said, rather loudly, "Wotton, you C...!!"
Chez Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 one bad game (against Bristol Rovers) all season says it all. Compare last season with the likes of Lancashire being bullied by forwards to this with Harding bullying attackers. Has he improved a lot? I wonder because I don't understand why the likes of Leeds didn't rate him.
Webby Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Good player, great signing. Reminds of Nick Holmes the way he quietly goes about his job. Looks a bit like a young Nick Holmes too.
gandalf Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 In reply to Webby I think he has a bit of a likeness to Stuart Pearce as well.
