NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 So, the question to be asked is - was it a coincidence, or did the SKY bloke in charge of camera direction get an instruction from "on high" to create a little news item ? Put Cortese up on the screen at the exact time a figure that seemed to crusade for us to have points docked not exactly to the letter of the rules came out onto the pitch, thereby heaping more attention on the nature of the relationship between chairman and manager ? Nothing would surprise me about our media anymore. you couldn't write it off, but are sky really that organised? Anyway, doesn't matter as long as we and NC know who the boos were really for. - That's certainly why 99.99% were booing anyhow, including me.

I'm always game for a good old fashioned conspiracy theory, and must admit that this one crossed my mind on the toilet this morning, but I think this may be slightly too far fetched to be true...or is it....? ;-)
alpine_saint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I'm always game for a good old fashioned conspiracy theory, and must admit that this one crossed my mind on the toilet this morning, but I think this may be slightly too far fetched to be true...or is it....? ;-) Well, seeing as a far amount of the conjecture going on in the SKY box and the commentary was about this very subject (sadly MLT decided to weigh into the discussion too), it would not surprise me.
Thedelldays Posted 29 March, 2010 Author Posted 29 March, 2010 TDD in negative angle expose shocker What are you on about. I never boo'd him and it wasnt just me who noticed. The country got to see how ungreatful a section of our support were. It was not me and I think it was out of order on an otherwise fantastic win
Professor Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 The press always want to promote 'hate' and 'fear' as those are the things that sell newspapers, iand if they are trying to promote an anti-Cortese line, its up to Saints fans not to fall for it. We have a great chairman, who is doing his job of keeping the manager under pressure to perform. Its a shame if Pardew makes too many public comments about too much pressure, because he should keep that sort of thing between himself and the Chairman, but in the end the pressure will be good for him as well as for the club.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 No boos in 536. Yes there were. Two ****s behind me. Disgraceful to be honest - he comes in, persuades a billionaire to get us out of the sh1t, makes money available... and because he asks for better results...he gets that? FFS some people need to wake up and smell the coffee. Thank you Markus AND Nicola.

Sour Mash Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 nice work...NOT We thought we heard a few boos, but then thought that no-one could be THAT F******G STUPID.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 (edited) We thought we heard a few boos, but then thought that no-one could be THAT F******G STUPID. No one did. It was for Malwhinney. I will post this repeatedly now. Edited 29 March, 2010 by NorthamSteve
Master Bates Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 WAIT! I remember Cortese coming on the screen at the same time Carlisle fans failed to continue the mexican wave and we booed. Not at Cortese but Carlisle. I remember clear as day because I thought to myself "hope Corty doesn't think that was for him".
Gambol2K9 Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 It seems to be a bit moronic to deny there was booing when Cortese was shown on screen, when myself and many others heard it. Big cheers for Markus, then flicked over to Nicola and there was a mix of cheers and boos. It was by far the minority that were doing it and depending on where you were sat you may not have heard it.
SoccerMom Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 No one did. It was for Malwhinney. That's what I thought! It started just after they announced his name. I thought the same when we watched it back last night.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 That's what I thought! It started just after they announced his name. I thought the same when we watched it back last night. Hurrah! Everyone refer to this and stop worrying......
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I was boo'ing.. but only cos lord what's his face walked out onto the pitch with some guy from JOhnstons Paint... didn't even look at the screens..
Crab Lungs Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 From what I could tell, it was for Cortese. Disgusting, really. We are bloody lucky to have him and Markus as well as Pards. Still, they'll always be a pondlife element associated with SFC, sadly.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 It wasn't !!!!!! Lord feckface was the target!
Tokyo-Saint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I booed two things. 1) Lord darth Vader - Although i do hope he keeps his tough line on finances when the skates come down (I do know he won't be in the job then but I hope he still has influence) 2) the Carlisle fans for the Mexican wave. i also wanted to boo the masses of miserable non singing Saints fans in the upper tier but didn't. Only one way to solve this, a big NC chant at St Mary's next week.

landford.saint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 i also wanted to boo the masses of miserable non singing Saints fans in the upper tier but didn't. From where I sat/stood in 531 upper tier, there was masses of singing/noise. Perhaps people sat near you were just in silent awe to be in your presence.
Andy_Porter Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Everyone around me cheered Cortese when he was on the big screen, didn't notice any booing at all.
September Saint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 No one did. It was for Malwhinney. I will post this repeatedly now. There was definitely booing for Mawhinny in 132 (me included) NO other booing heard
Bakovnetski Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Right. Let's clear this up. The only boos I heard from 535 before the match started were for the Mahwinney slimeball. Only cheers for NC. Agree, 326 only had boos for Mahwinney the turd.
Super_Uwe Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Funnily enough the pub I went to in Cardiff was absolutely dead, and so the barman was a top guy and agreed to have all of the TV's on full blast which was happy days for me (he wasn't a Burnley-Blackburn fan!). Having had the volume up so loud, there were definitely boos on screen about a second after NC was on screen, but by the sounds of it on here, the people at the game were booing something else. I'd really hope that was the case of course. I guess it's just a shame that this came out on TV because what it does is create these stupid rumours. Anyone who watched the game on TV yesterday would sadly have had the impression that there was very little love for NC but all the praise in the world for ML.
treggs23 Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Well I for one cannot believe that anyone booed Cortese...I am disgusted to call myself a saints fan today
proevosaints Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Well my section 140 had boos accompanied by chants of you ****ing ****** cortese, then more boos, then **** off cortese.. this would lead me to conclude it was for cortese...
ohwhenthesaints Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Definite boos around block 128 for him when he popped up on screen after Markus. The trouble with a **** stirring media is that there are always some who believe everything they read in a newspaper and go on to base their opinions on it as if it is fact.
Gingeletiss Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I see Alpine Saint and Dulldays are mischief making again. IMHO, anyone who has an agenda to drive out NC, is a fool of the top order. Make no mistake here, ML will go as well. It will take a few years for Southampton to get into ML's blood, the way it is ours, so don't try and drive out his No 1 man. For my part, the boos were for the good Lord, who made his appearance on the pitch, when NC's picture appeared on the big screen, all around me cheered.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Yea, I wonder if the few that have been mentioned as shouting feck off Cortese were just fair weatherers that got the wrong end of the stick?.... I'm absolutely certain that Lord t-wattyboll0cks was coming on the pitch to boos as I was taking part too.
St Landrew Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I can see here that we're just going to continue to get people writing... yes, the boos were for Malwhinney, but Cortese was on the screen... and others are going to be writing... no, the boos were for Cortese as well... Can we just accept that, in the main, the boos were for Malwhinney, but maybe Cortese got a few of his own, from a few idiots who should know better..? If nobody booed we wouldn't get these issues being thrown up.
mattyg Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 There was some booing of Cortese, FACT. But to put it in context, it happened when saints were winning and they showed Marcus on the screen which resulted in a lot of cheering and then moved on to Cortese, which generated some pantomime like booing. If they had shown Cortese first it would have not generated any booing or certainly not the level of booing. Lighten up people it was partytime and the booing of the "villian" compared to Marcus was fun in that context. BTW, I did not boo or cheer Mr Cortese..
Noodles34 Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 just to kick things off again in respect to NC, I bumped into a former commentator (of Saints) at Wembley, I won't embarrass (not that he reads this no doubt) by naming, he still has a big job in football media, but he commented that "St Marys is not a nice place to work at the moment", we didn't go into any details suffice to say the rumours are true about NC and his style of management. This is not a judgement just an observation, however personally I feel to get the best from your staff you treat them with the respect that they earn. As for booing, I don't think any was for NC, even though i am not overly keen on him at the moment, to boo him on a day like that would be ridiculous, he's got a long way (and I hope he never gets there)to go until he hits the 'hate' height of previous CEO's etc, I certainly booed MalWhinny though and cheered AP throughout.
Thedelldays Posted 29 March, 2010 Author Posted 29 March, 2010 No one did. It was for Malwhinney. I will post this repeatedly now. hmmm..ok I thought I heard a murmuring of boos when he appeared on the screen. Hard to tell watching on TV. Sky definitely played it up though. Media making a mountain out of a molehill again with regards the Pardew situation. When the screen showed Markus there was a big cheer, when it showed Cortese there was silence. That Birtles commentator couldn't say a positive thing about Saints all day There were people behind me (block 120) who cheered when Liebherr came on the screen and then booed when Cortese came on. It's a shame they don't realise that without Cortese, we wouldn't have Liebherr. I was in block 241 and there was definitely booing Yup, definitely booing. I was in block 533 in the 'gods', there was lots of booing. Lots of cheers too though. Not impressed by the boo's at all!! It happend before the game, ML was on screen and there was a huge cheer, then NC appeared on screen followed by lots of ridiculas, pathetic booing... I wouldn't ordinarily stick up for big stupid delldays but on this occasion he is right, there was a fair bit of booing going on around me when he came on the screen. I hope it was people getting wires crossed or something, was lame to the max. The booing I heard happened before kick off, waaaaaaaaaaay before Mexican waves got going. Mark it in your diary; 28th March 2010, delldays was right about something. It happend before that and the mexican wave... Why are people having such a hard time believing this!! It happend, it was 50/50 but there were boo's mixed in among the cheers for NC. Absoulute, 100% fact... NC was booed when first shown on the big screen. I heard it clearly in block 235. When he appeared later he wasn't booed. Mexican waves suck. We almost scored during one and I bet thousands doing it and watching those do it would have missed the goal. heard some booing in block 529 when he first came up....... it happened. It was pathetic. Yeah. Definately 'Boos' for Cortese in block 524. Bit shocked really - only down point on a brilliant day. It happened when the ten other people on this thread said it happened. Pre match - Markus on screen - cheers, moved to Nicola - Boos. It happened. Not alledged, nothing to do with Mahwinney or Mexican waves. It happened, pretty clear all round the ground.
aintforever Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I didn't hear any booing. Dulldays it is quite possible that the people who heard booing whilst Cortese was on the big screen, were not seeing the real reason why the booing happened (ie) mexican wave or lord whatever his name is. There is zero reason why anyone would boo Cortese, it makes no sense.

NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 hmmm..ok Ok "I was in block 241 and there was definitely booing" yep "I thought I heard a murmuring of boos when he appeared on the screen." "booed when Cortese came on." "I was in block 241 and there was definitely booing" "waaaaaaaaaaay before Mexican waves got going." "heard some booing in block 529 when he first came up......." Only one of the posts you copied then suggested that it was not at the same time as Lord Nobcheese coming on the pitch, which it was, I was there and booing the bastard. As I stated before, some plastics that had come might have got the wrong end of the stick with who the booing was directed towards and acted up, but it was started becasue of that. Just co-incidental timing, and it only happened once - the time the teams were lined up to meet the fat-cats..... so. No one did. It was for Malwhinney. or some did but they're ****s that don't know anything about the club and wont come to another game for months.
Whitey Grandad Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I didn't hear any booing at the game and I watched the recording last night. The shot of Markus raised a cheer, the shot of Nicola didnt. I wouldn't call that booing, just muted. It all depends on the location of the crowd microphones. Don't assume that what you see and hear on the television bears any relationsip to what is happening at the game.
aintforever Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 (edited) he was boo'd before any mexican waves started..see above IF it did happen then who ever did it are retards. I still fail to see why people would boo one of the people who saved the club and helped bankroll it to Wembley. Fact is whoever was watching the big screen was probably not watching Lord c**tface walk out. I couldn't say as I was one of hundreds quing to use Wembley's few toliets. Edited 29 March, 2010 by aintforever

brmbrm Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 No one did. It was for Malwhinney. I will post this repeatedly now. I gave Ma******** a boo and noticed NC on the screen, thought "hope he doesn';t thin its for him" and gave Maarsehead another boo.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 ok...you are such a super fan.. hopefully will be priced out when we get back to the prem..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Yes I am. In fact I am the only fan and all of you bastards should bow to me on entrance to St Mary's, or any-other Saints related game. It's little wonder you have such a bad rep on here. - I hadn't expierienced it previously.
NorthamSteve Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 I gave Ma******** a boo and noticed NC on the screen, thought "hope he doesn';t thin its for him" and gave Maarsehead another boo. I think most would have seen it this way, but I'm sure everyone realises that I think that by now.
hypochondriac Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Definite boos from people behind me both times Cortese came on the screen.
Thedelldays Posted 29 March, 2010 Author Posted 29 March, 2010 :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Yes I am. Chez Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 have you missed the winking thingy at the end of that line Chez ??? FFS, some people have no sense of humour, not even on a great day like this ! yes I missed it sorry.
Chez Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 As someone has posted, ML and NC are a package deal. MLs money and NCs firm but supportive management has brought us our first silverware in 34 years. And they are our best bet to get back to the big time. I think saintkiptanui is right - some people should shut the f**k up and stop looking for issues. why attack those reporting what happened? The damage (if any) was done yesterday. NC will either be non plussed or he won't. What we discuss here won't have a bearing at all.
jam Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 why attack those reporting what happened? The damage (if any) was done yesterday. NC will either be non plussed or he won't. What we discuss here won't have a bearing at all. I'm sure Alpine Saint can defend himself but I read his post as criticising those who were booing NC.
manji Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Well, seeing as a far amount of the conjecture going on in the SKY box and the commentary was about this very subject (sadly MLT decided to weigh into the discussion too), it would not surprise me. I was annoyed with MLT. He seemed happy to fan the flames. Surely he is not bitter about Pinnacles failure ?
