emerson massey Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 at the end yes...but not at the start when he was on the big screen... not that it matters now....but I thought at the time it was embarrassing.. Maybe my position in the stadium, but i'm pretty sure everyone around me gave him a cheer
Ziggy Stardust Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Agree - no booing - apart from a bit of fun when Carlisle didn't join in the wave. Don't need negative threads on a day like today. Today is a great day to be a Saints supporter so just enjoy!
damers Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Def only cause of the wave! def def def only cause of the wave now just drop it!!!! Why the hell would anyone boo nc.
manji Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The worst thing is The Echo is going to spin/exaggerate this to further their agenda.
St_Tel49 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard boos, but there were plenty coming for each set of fans in the build up. The biggest boos were for the Carlisle fans for not carrying on the mexican wave! You were booing me as well then. I hate f*****g Mexican waves. I'd rather watch the game thanks.
Saintmike666 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Def only cause of the wave! def def def only cause of the wave now just drop it!!!! Why the hell would anyone boo nc. It happend! It really did! There were plenty of boo's. Though its fair to say plenty of cheers too... It happend before the game about an hour before the mexican wave...
St Marco Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The boos in the build up were because of Lord Whiner was on the red carpet
damers Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Well who ever was doing at nc. is stupid an VERY un apreciative of what NC and ML have done for us! COYR
Saintmike666 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The boos in the build up were because of Lord Whiner was on the red carpet It happend before that and the mexican wave... Why are people having such a hard time believing this!! It happend, it was 50/50 but there were boo's mixed in among the cheers for NC. Absoulute, 100% fact...
Chez Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 NC was booed when first shown on the big screen. I heard it clearly in block 235. When he appeared later he wasn't booed. Mexican waves suck. We almost scored during one and I bet thousands doing it and watching those do it would have missed the goal.

It happend, it was 50/50 but there were boo's mixed in among the cheers for NC. Absoulute, 100% fact... It must have been in a specific part of the ground. I certainly didn't hear any where I was in 501.

saint_stevo Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 heard some booing in block 529 when he first came up.......

Thedelldays Posted 28 March, 2010 Author Posted 28 March, 2010 well...(dons tin hat) IF it did happen, then probably one of the most retarded things those fans could do..(and they have done some pretty retarded things over the years)
Saintmike666 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Heard nowt where I was in 233. I think it was centred around the south west corner. Loud and clear in block 533...
Chez Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 It must have been in a specific part of the ground. I certainly didn't hear any where I was in 501. nope, the boos were from whole end rather than a small section of the ground. That said it was only a small percentage of people. Not sure why people are bothering to say they didn't hear it, it happened, that ios all that matters and shows how a large amount of people don't like him.

Saintmike666 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 What w a n k e r s they were! Indeed. The only blot on an otherwise amazing day!
Thedelldays Posted 28 March, 2010 Author Posted 28 March, 2010 well..I thought I heard him boo'd on telly..and was shocked really.... hope this is not people turning on him..?
proevosaints Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Definitely boos in 140! Including this idiot couple behind me calling cortese a ****ing ****** and screaming it everytime he came on screen. In the end we turned round and told them to shut up and asked why he was and they replied "he just is" and we said well to be honest hes responsible for ML getting involved, hes brought good players to the club, a good manager and we've just won the JPT. To which they said he doesnt care about football only business. Well frankly hes always over here and is passionate so must do a little and secondly i couldnt give two if he doesnt, hes running it well, we're financially safe unlike most, would you rather be palace, bmth, pompey? If this is how well we do when we run it like a business long may it continue. If lambert doesnt provide and doesnt score pardew will be on his back, in the same way if pardew doesnt provide and we dont win cortese should be rightly on his back!
saint lard Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The boos were very audible from block 120,i can assure you. And they were directed it seems at Cortese. As soon as the big screen moved from Mr Liebherr to Cortese the cheers changed to boos. This was very early on in the proceedings.
Thedelldays Posted 28 March, 2010 Author Posted 28 March, 2010 ******, I was there and it didn't happen. People, who I can only guess are like alpine, Glasgow, and dell days did spoil it. ? well, it seems my ears were not playing tricks on me earlier...
beatlesaint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 It happened only once, everytime he came on screen after that there were cheers. Thats the trouble when you get 12000 plus part timers turn up Mountains....molehills......

Chez Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 It happened only once, everytime he came on screen after that there were cheers. Thats the trouble when you get 12000 plus part timers turn up Mountains....molehills...... why suggest it was the part timers? There is no way of determining who booed and who didn't. Just because you don't go to every game doesn't make you less informed, less loyal, or less entitled to your opinion.
Dark Munster Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Not wanting to ruin a great day and one i'll not forget for along time, but........ YES there were boo's when Cortese appeared on the big screen and NO i don't think it was a co-incidence and related to anything else.....TBH i was disgusted that a section of our fans obviously believe everything they read in the garbage tabloids or read far too much into what Cortese has really said......Both Cortese and our Swiss owner deserve all the praise for digging our proud club out of the hell hole they found it in. Pardew has done wonders and created an exciting team that will have more good days than bad and i for one am mighty proud tonight to be a Saints fan. +1 Well said. :smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038

FFS, some people have no sense of humour, not even on a great day like this !

Just because you don't go to every game doesn't make you less informed, less loyal, or less entitled to your opinion. Good post. My brother is a massive Southampton fan. He lives for The Saints - one of the most passionate and loyal fans I know. Yet he can't get to most games, he doesn't post on an internet forum and he did go to Wembley!
the boy from saints Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 (edited) Yeah. Definately 'Boos' for Cortese in block 524. Bit shocked really - only down point on a brilliant day. Edited 28 March, 2010 by the boy from saints Removed mistaken quote.
Stepgar Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I did boo, but i genuinly thought it was the owner of Carlisle. it was nit until after that i actually realised that it was Nicola. Sorry
Saints foreva Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Very disappointed when I heard this - Please don't come back to this club you utter clowns.
ponto1963 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 indeed...they kept going on about it.....pards got a nice big hug from NC and markus at the end Agreed, I wonder if they'll show that at all. No, knowing the press probably not :smt105
Britttherainking Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Cheers for ML, Slightly less for NC but no boo that I heard. Block 127

I didn't hear any boos, we were above the score board, but any one who did needs to have their head tested. If it wasn't for Cortese we might not have a team. It was he who suggested to ML that he might buy the club. Really good to see the hug that NC gave AP after the game.
M271 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 When did the alledged booing of NC take place?, if it was before the match it was for Malwinney and if during the second half it was for the Carlisle supporters not keeping the Mexican Wave going. People are not always looking at the screen they can be looking at things going on in the stadium or on the pitch. No booing for NC that I heard from Block 236 (south west corner), only cheers for anyone to do with SFC.
corsacar saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Every club unfortunately has its share of idiots.
smithy Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Every forum has its share of attention seekers - check their post count.

No booing for NC that I heard from Block 236 (south west corner), only cheers for anyone to do with SFC. It happened when the ten other people on this thread said it happened. Pre match - Markus on screen - cheers, moved to Nicola - Boos. It happened. Not alledged, nothing to do with Mahwinney or Mexican waves. It happened, pretty clear all round the ground.
John Boy Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Defo Boos heard in Block 250 1 away from where he was sitting, yes Samuel has stirred the poo but if you heard some of the Interview on Solent there was a comment about results not being good enougha message of back off, I think you will find the strange reaction was a case of many folks saying don't fiddle with what is light years away from what we have seen in the previous few seasons. I think the hug at he the end of the game might just pour a bucket of water on the whole situation.

Particularly the Carlisle and non Mexican wave.... Cortese was loudly cheered by most as was ML and Pards on many occasions.. Well done ML, NC and Pards and team.... Shame on you idiots who still have some sort of axe to grind re NL or even Pards....Most of us belong to the HAPPY Saints family.... COYRs

As soon as the big screen moved from Mr Liebherr to Cortese the cheers changed to boos. This was very early on in the proceedings. Yep, a few morons around me did as well after Markus got a big cheer on the screen. I have to say that 98% of us cheered Cortese, me included but pathetically, it did happen although it was probably about 100 people out of 45,000 and some of it may have been pantomime. Hopefully Cortese is a robust enough individual with a sense of humour to ignore a few idiots released from their villages for the day and heard the huge backing that he actually got.
ottery st mary Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Apparently there are still thousands cheering for Cortese in London and pretty well every pub in Southampton.....This man is very highly thought of by true Saints fans.... Well done NC a true legend...
Saint_clark Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I asked a group of lads behind me why they were booing and they said they just assumed it was the Carlisle chairman. Numptys.

No it wasn't I was in block 130 and didn't hear any booing so it wasn't clear all around the ground. Now in fairness I didn't see any Mexican waves either.
