Arizona Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I did here a few boos splattered around when NC appeared on the screne, but they weren't nescessarily connected. Wembley is so MASSIVE that there was usually a lag in hearing the crowd noise because of the time it takes sound to travel that far. I remember Carlisle goals, they had scored, celebrated, given the ball back and we'd kicked off before the sound of the cheer reached our end. The boos could have been for anything. Carlisle players, Lord Malwhingy (Well I booed him anuway) or the Carlisle fans refusing to join in a Mexican wave. There were probably a handful of ignorant tosspots in amongst the 45,000 booing NC. F**k 'em.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 nice work...NOT Rubbish! From where I was stood nothing of the sort happened!
Tokyo-Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 ******, I was there and it didn't happen. People, who I can only guess are like alpine, Glasgow, and dell days did spoil it. Bigger questions: Why do some saints fans never sing? Why did some saints fans leave early? (when's the last time we won a cup?) why was there an amazing atmosphere outside but inside was ****? (wembley acustics?) why don't you negative gits who are probably also the non singers pis5 off and suport pimpy?
Delmary Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard no boos in block 524, we just booed when Carlisle buggered up the Mexican wave.Definitely no boos for NC. Only cheering.

Barney Trubble Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The camera showed lots of shots of him during the game and not once did I hear him get a boo from anyone, in fact he was cheered loudly and clapped. Utter ********, maybe Sky focused on 'one' fan out of 44,000 who did boo and tried to make a generalisation. The feeling for him was warm and i'd lock this thread as the only purpose it serves is to drain peoples energy. It's been a wonderful day and it's just not needed.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Don't care what happened on tv. It didn't happen! The sound at wembley is **** and sounds like people are booing and cheering at any point. Sky can play it how they like. Pardew, NC, ML were all give a good ovation from where I was standing.
Saint_Jonny Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 on the coach home and i didnt hear the supposed boos. Think it must have been for something else. Everyone was cheering nc.

I heard a few boos in 538, very disappointed in the fans considering the work that he's put into this club.. anyway, probably for the waves as people have stated..
Spudders Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 mate...it happened and it was terrible... Well if you say so. I'm pretty sure the booing wasn't at NC, but was where the carlise fans didn't carry on the Mexican wave, but to be honest I only have being there to go by. If the tv coverage implies it was at NC then fair enough. I'll choose to stick with what I heard at the game, but it seems like things have been misunderstood on the tv to me?
Barney Trubble Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 well..watch a repeat on sky and you will see why people think he was boo'd Frankly, I don't care what Sky footage they have, maybe that was the perception as opposed to the reality. Something else might have been happening on the pitch/in the terraces at the same time they panned in on Cortese and some fans booing. I didn't feel any bad vibes from anyone towards Cortese. The silly Mexican waves may have gotten a boo, maybe they panned in on some fans booing that and then switched over to the cam looking at Cortese.

I'll choose to stick with what I heard at the game, but it seems like things have been misunderstood on the tv to me? probably true.. the camera was on (which was on the big screens) markus and you can hear everyone cheering and clapping when it appears, it moves across to Cortese and you clearly hear people boo....maybe a coincidence but a very well timed one..
mcjwills Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 No booing for NC where I was in Block 122, think its all cowpoo
oxfordshire_saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Yes Markus has the moolah, but Cortese is the key behind us actually having a club. If anything, he should get a bigger cheer than the big man.
View From The Top Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 The only booing I heard was when the Carlisle fans wouldn't continue the Mexican wave.
Delmary Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 probably true.. the camera was on (which was on the big screens) markus and you can hear everyone cheering and clapping, it moves across to Cortese and you clearly hear people boo....maybe a coincidence but a very well timed one..The away fans were booed for not continuing the Mexican wave. All pure coincidence! Lock thread????
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 No booing in 526, except when the Mexican wave hit the Carlisle end.
Under Weststand Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Just watched it back and while they were showing ML taking picture's & it panned to NC slightly the boos started, but they then cut to the pitch & Lord Mulwhinney coming out for the introductions. So I think that was the booing not for NC. Maybe the media don't know the contempt we hold for him & misinterpreted it. That's my take on it, I never thought at the time it was for NC. Anyway watch for yourselves when you get home & make your own minds up.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 i was in block 132 didnt hear any booing of nc.only for malwhinney, and carlisle fans when they didnt do mexican wave.out of prob more than 44000 saints fans there will always be some numpties
St.Jeweller Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 When NC was asked on SSNews about the negative public support he/the club has showed towards AP before KO he mysteriously had a problem with his earpiece, untimely coincidence methinks........HTH!
Farnboro Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I see a few people on this thread have clocked on to the fact it was Carlisle not carrying on the Mexican Wave that got the boo's. Certainly not for Nic coming up on the big screen. People watching at home would not have realised but everybody at the game should have...mind u, having said that, i was the first person in block 552 to jump up and start screaming when Antonio's goal went in - everybody else around me was too busy mugging off the Carlisle fans and missed the goal. Cracking result though. Its good to be a Saint people!
saintedwill Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 No one was booing Cortese! It was because the Carlise fans refused to carry on a mexican wave in the top tier that there was booing... just coincidence that Cortese was on the screen. There were people behind me (block 120) who cheered when Liebherr came on the screen and then booed when Cortese came on. It's a shame they don't realise that without Cortese, we wouldn't have Liebherr.
the stain Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard no boos in block 524, we just booed when Carlisle buggered up the Mexican wave. This. Everyone time the Mexican wave crashed at the Carlisle fans, all the Saints fans nearby booed. During one of the 'waves', ML's face came up on screen and loads of people cheered. As the camera panned away and the cheers died down, the 'wave' ran up against the Carlisle fans again and Saints fans nearby booed them. It had been going on for some minutes by then and was all fairly light-hearted stuff. It would be easy for anyone who wasn't watching the mexican wave action to misinterpret it, but I'm pretty certain it was incidental.

JibMcdo Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I think TDD is a bit of a plank, but when you watch the game on Sky, he is right in assuming the crowd booed Cortese.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Was in Club Wembley and heard no boos, and in fact was cheering every time him and Marcus were on screen. People are making too much of this. Was a great day for all Saints fans so can't imagine too many boos anyway. Hyped up crap for me.
richardc Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I was in block 241 and there was definitely booing
Joesaint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 No one was booing NC not at all in fact he got a great response when on the TV bit in the ground, was well good.
Saintmike666 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Yup, definitely booing. I was in block 533 in the 'gods', there was lots of booing. Lots of cheers too though. Not impressed by the boo's at all!! It happend before the game, ML was on screen and there was a huge cheer, then NC appeared on screen followed by lots of ridiculas, pathetic booing...
Crouch Ender Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Was in Club Wembley and heard no boos, and in fact was cheering every time him and Marcus were on screen. People are making too much of this. Was a great day for all Saints fans so can't imagine too many boos anyway. Hyped up crap for me. Agreed - no booing for Cortese evident from where I was in 542. Big jeers for Marcus and lesser cheers for Nicola but cheers nonetheless. Only heard booing when the Carlisle team was announced and of course when they didn't carry on the Mexican wave.
niceandfriendly Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 No one was booing Cortese! It was because the Carlise fans refused to carry on a mexican wave in the top tier that there was booing... just coincidence that Cortese was on the screen. No. It was before the game started. People were definitely booing Cortese (even a few around where I was sitting). Which is absolutely mental.
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard no boos in block 524, we just booed when Carlisle buggered up the Mexican wave. You may thank me for starting those...
Ash Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 He didn't get boo'd stop trolling. I wouldn't ordinarily stick up for big stupid delldays but on this occasion he is right, there was a fair bit of booing going on around me when he came on the screen. I hope it was people getting wires crossed or something, was lame to the max. This. Everyone time the Mexican wave crashed at the Carlisle fans, all the Saints fans nearby booed. During one of the 'waves', ML's face came up on screen and loads of people cheered. The booing I heard happened before kick off, waaaaaaaaaaay before Mexican waves got going. Mark it in your diary; 28th March 2010, delldays was right about something.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Not wanting to ruin a great day and one i'll not forget for along time, but........ YES there were boo's when Cortese appeared on the big screen and NO i don't think it was a co-incidence and related to anything else.....TBH i was disgusted that a section of our fans obviously believe everything they read in the garbage tabloids or read far too much into what Cortese has really said......Both Cortese and our Swiss owner deserve all the praise for digging our proud club out of the hell hole they found it in. Pardew has done wonders and created an exciting team that will have more good days than bad and i for one am mighty proud tonight to be a Saints fan.
niceandfriendly Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Mark it in your diary; 28th March 2010, delldays was right about something. Harsh but true.
sperm_john Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 people making mountains out of mole hills, anyone who thinks cortese has done a bad job and doesnt want saints best interests at heart is an idiot imo
s0108787 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 THERE WERE NO BOOS FOR NC. PERIOD. We gave both Markus and Nicola an almighty cheer. Complete hogwash the whole story.
InvictaSaint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Why, on a day such as this, could somebody find it in themselves to highlight the one possible negative pin in a haystack of happiness? Even if it did happen, why draw attention to it?? This has been THE GREATEST DAY IN RECENT MEMORY, and given everything we have been through in the last 12 months, I frankly don't care if some mindless numpties with Stella where their brains used to be, decide to boo the man who has helped guide us to where we are now - on the cusp of something special. They are NOT representative of sane Saints fans, and they do not represent me, so screw them. I am HAPPY today and will not let the OP or any other miserable git put a downer on this day.

St Marco Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 What a steaming load of ********, as said above it was because we were doing the group wave and when it got round to their 5 fans they did not join in, hence the boo.
Wiltshire Saint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 how am I negative..I never boo'd him..? But when we go back to post 1: nice work. Something is not quite right. TDD is up to no good again. He's been booing and a-carrying on. He's been stirring up trouble between NC and AP. TDD out!
doddisalegend Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I didn't here any boos where I was, there where a few for Mawhinney at the start but everything and everbody saints got cheered a lot today (even wotton).
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard no booing aimed at Cortese. At the end he hugged Pardew and got massive cheer.
Dig Dig Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 the boo's were because of the carlisle fans not joining in with the Mexican wave, end of! The sky people put 2 and 2 together and got 5
smithy Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Total Bowlax, nobody booed Cortese - the only booing all day was when the mexican wave failed.
Made in Southampton Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 I heard no boos in block 524, we just booed when Carlisle buggered up the Mexican wave. Thats exactly what I thought.
LGTL Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Delldays, the only boo's I heard today was for Malwhinney, expect it could have been that..
sammysaint Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 There was a mixture of boos and cheers but they were aimed at him no one should try and hide that but at the end of the game he got a cheer.
