perhaps he lacks CONSISTANCY because he doesn't play first team football

CONSISTANTLY. Getting thrown in just for JPT games doesn't lead to better understanding either. He hasn't played for half-a-dozen games and was injured in between time. I think he's got great potential and his pace will be invaluable in the faster games in CCC...he just needs a bit more coaching.

Might save us ANOTHER million buy in a year or two's time.

I think RobM means consistency DURING games. Antonio is the type of player that can fade in and out of games. I forget which one I was watching, I think it was Exeter on Boxing Day, but he was superb at times and anonymous at other times.

A quality player already, he has the potential to be even better.

Oh and Stevo, it must've been hard for you to admit that, but you've finally seen what the rest of us had seen this season...

Have we got that long..? :)

Lol, don't know about you but I'm planning to hang around at least until I get my minimum 3 score years and ten, anything less I'll be disappointed !!!

That description is typical of most modern day "wingers" though, which is the category I currently see Antonio in.

Agree could develop into a good quality player.

Imaginative but if we keep him hope you are half right.

Simple question though, do we need or want Antonio,Papa and Puncheon ?

Simple answer, yes !

Not in a million years is he better than Puncheon.

he's certainly better than Puncheon in the second half against Swindon and full games against MK Donns and Hartlepool. Anotnio has had some bad games, but for me these are much outweighed by the good ones. The way he tore Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient apart was a joy and if we are in League 1 next season then I look forward to him doing the same up and down the country.

they are very different players by the way and absolutely no reason why both can't be accomodated in the squad or even the team. Antonio played up front, and both left and right wings yesterday, Lallana and Waigo were also moved about so AP feels they can all play in differnt positions if need be.

I am now living overseas and yesterday via a link on the net was the first time I had seen some of the players for any period of time. Antonio, Lallana and Waigo looked very strong. Looking forward to being back in the UK next month and seeing a couple of live games as Saints push towards the playoffs. COYR!!!

Of course we must keep Papa and Antonio if we can. They both fulfill an important part of our in depth squad. We can release about 6/7 others and still be able to get another right back and midfielder to strengthen these positions.
