Saints 4-1 Carlisle - 2010 JPT Champions - Reaction

Block 5

Recommended Posts

I don't think Saints ever came out of 2nd gear. Really thought Carlise would compete a bit more but instead they were woeful. We got to 4-0 without even really trying!

Great to see so much red and white throughout the stadium. It might be a paint pot trophy but scoring 4 goals and lifting any trophy at Wembley is some achievement.

Big bad Radhi Jaidi is my MoM, he one EVERYTHING in the air. Man mountain.

What a day :D

I've never seen so many Saints fans in one place lol :D

Only downer on the day was to find the recorder had messed up so I can't watch the game back now... any chance of anyone putting it online?

There's 40 mins of highlights on BBC2 at 10.50 tonight mate.

Fantastic day out, glad it didn't rain as it looked as if there were quite a few players finding the surface slippery as they kept falling over.

What a way to lose my new Wembley stadium cherry with a 4-1 win. On the down side we did too much hoof ball with a weak midfield. Carlisle had some good moments but fortunately didn't have a player to unlock our defense. We took our chances and also shut them out until the end when it was really all over.

Harding was great considering he was out of position, in fact all players played their part but disappointed with Mills as he played too much hoof ball.

Just got back to Sussex coast - what a day, fantastic to see Saints win at Wembley and in style too. Top marks to the several Carlisle fans I met and spoke to as well, top blokes and generous in defeat.

Too many old bill outside though and why the need for all those bl**dy horses ? - talk about OTT and unnecessary, everyone was very well behaved.

There was a handful of OB dotted around Fleet Services on the way home. Seemed odd. Can't imagine there are too many Carlisle fans heading home along the M3. Also a couple of Skates trying to hitch hike a lift back. They weren't having a lot of luck.

When you have 44,000 spread out like that it's always hard to get anything going except for the block you are in.

I'd agree with all of that, never felt they were in it.

Many thanks to whoever it was who first suggested parking at Denham and getting the train - dead easy. Parked up, got the 11.12 train, and got into Wembley no problem. Walked up the hill to the Green Man for midday, which was heaving (nice to bump into Minty briefly again as we crossed going in - hope all's well, mate).

Back 4 superb, won it at a canter, really. I'd have had Ricky and Jahidi off on 70 for Thursday, with the game won, personally.

Great day out, brilliant fans.

Just on the train back. What a day. To those who says it doesn't matter. you can **** right off. Amazing day. We are so damn good.

Loved to see Pardew hugging with both Cortese and Liebherr, just made me see how much the 'rift' has been taken out of context.

Antonio MoM by the way, was superb.

Great day all round, so happy. COYR.

Great day out - started at the Green Man - so crowded but service not bad! and then we finally stepped out into the stadium proper with the look on my 2 sons faces as they went "Wow" was priceless - it was an ocean of red and white - and also an emotional moment as I remembered the last time I was there in '79 :-( and now to be back now to see Saints win 4-1 at Wembley with my 2 lads was just the perfect day!

I don't think I will ever forget that feeling when I walked into the Stadium and saw that we had reached a final just 12 months from nearly going bust.

Today was brilliant, It may only be the JPT as some will point out, but I really couldn't care less.

Just back through the door. The coach journey back to Southampton was endless.

But who cares? Nothing could dampen the feeling of euphoria that I feel. I look forward to several more trips to the grand stage in the future, perhaps to defend the cup next year, play-offs or preferably automatic promotion, but perhaps a proper FA Cup final too.

Wonderful, wonderful day. So proud to have been there with my 5 year old boy, who was a star on what was a long day for him. Home now and knackered! Noticed another Saint getting off the train at Rainham (Kent); if that was you, I did shout "hello" to you and wave!

Arrived back at 1830hrs.

Tubed it in and out to Wembley Park from Hillingdon - no problems whatsoever getting in this morning - the train was full of both sets of fans without any signs of trouble.

Getting out was slow getting to the actual station, but got on the first tube that arrived and 25 mins later we were on our way back to the M25. Easy.

Game was great although you have to say Carlisle gifted us the first three goals - first visit and it was fantastic.

What I will always remember was the 2 seconds of silence between Carlisle hitting the bar, and the ooooooooooooooooooooh from their supporters :)

Sat in the Carlisle end (Block 104) amongst the sea (pond compared to Saints) of blue.

I had a great day with my Mum, both of us celebrated respectfully each moment, got back and savoured the moment even more on Sky.

We needed the early goal as they were rampant with no finish, that was the difference, we could hit the back of the net.

The Carlisle fans must have spent hours to get to Wembley, yet from where I sat the support was limp.

But the honesty and sportsmanship of the Carlisle fans was great, one guy shaking Par'd hand as he goes up to collect the trophy, clapping the team as we did our lap of honour and other fans clapping us out of Wembley.

Best moments - Antonio's goal and from where I sat - the Carlisle Elvis getting their fans behind the team - Good effort.

The Saints fan's in Wembley were impressive .

A great day out

We didn't start particularly well and the penalty turned things in the first half. After that we pushed on and grabbed the second to make a bit more room by half-time. Second half we came out and pressed from the start, creating the third, but after the 4th was finished well we seemed to slip off the pace and Carlisle's goal was coming.

Overall the support was fantastic, both in the ground and getting to it, i've never seen so much red and white!

Bring on the play-offs....

Been home just over an hour the roast the wife cooked tasted so much better after a day like that. A very good all round team performance we could have scored a couple more. The Carlisle fans we spoke to on the way back to the car were very gracious in defeat do feel a little sorry for them, thats a bloody long way home after being stuffed like that at Wembley.

What a day!

It's my birthday today (37) and it's been the best ever, started off with Button winning the GP, then a few beers and Saints smashing Carlisle - My Dad won £1400 on the result and my eldest son scored 2 and set up 3 in a 6 - 0 cup final win for his team and got Man of the Match, the only shame is I missed it because I was at Wembley.

Good day though! :-)

First time at the new Wembley, not stadium, in the biggest rundown area in London. Three hours to kill, and nothing to do!. Into the stadium, impressed, put £3 in a 4-0 win at 28-1 (Carlisle were 150-1 for the same scoreline!), so at 4-0 I was happy, ten minutes to go, I was happy, and my trip paid for:smt105, final whistle, I was bl00dy ecstatic.

What a great result, a cup win is a cup win, and it could of been 6-0, and Carlisle would not of had any complaints IMO.

abso-f*cking-lutely fantastic, well done lads and Pards!! back among the trophies after so long, and lets not let the whingers tell us this one didnt matter, just looking and listening to the fans reaction after the game shows how much it meant. Great day out, even if it took me three and a half hours to get home. :D

Great day. I thought Carlisle played nice neat passing football but they where compleatly toothless up front. We played some awful stuff at times but we have so many goals in us now. My heart sunk when I heard Wottons name on the team sheet and no Morgan but yet we still banged four past them. Loved seeing AP waving the saints flag and giving NC a big cuddle at the end and Marcus looked so happy. Dan Harding was immense again today MOM. good to see Antonio back too, much rather have him than Puncheon from what I've seen. A bet Carlisle can't wait to come to St Mary's and play our first team considering our second string just battered them.

whose coach broke down on the M25? I drove past it and saw a dozen or more saints lads standing by the barrier plssing over it like hosepipes. For shame, what an advert for the club.....;)

Great day, great result. I've never seen us win anything so to see us run around with that trophy put a massive smile on my face. If you watched the big screens during the national anthem you would have seen me and 2 mates signing along, absolute quality. Ahhh terrific day. Love it.

Was on coach 73 with some asbo's at the back.

Harding, Mills, Lallana and Lambert, top class.

Lost for words.

Must say I was really annoyed at the part timers, especially the ***** who asked me to sit down when we was waiting for Lambert to hit the penalty.

The atmosphere was okish, suppose its a tad hard if we're spread out.

Do you have Virgin Plus? Same thing happened to me! At least highlights are on BBC tonight (i think?). Magic day! Harding MOTM for me. I love the way he always plays the ball, turning players rather than just hoofing it. Felt like we missed Morgan. Said to my son that not many of his schoolmates would ever see their team lift a trophy at Wembley! Love the Saints! Mexican wave was funny as well. Can only talk in soundbites!

Have to say i had a great day out alos, apart from the 3 ladies behind me who kept poking me in the back asking me to sit down. Including one during a rendition of "Stand up if you love the saints"!

I understand i may heve been obscuring your view, but stand up, sing along and you can see it all AND add the the atmosphere. Still, was great day, best bit in the pub in baker st after, lots of singing, until the stopped serving....boooooo.

All in all was fantastic day, ranks up there with the best (not too many :( )

Much love to all saints, AP, NC and of course Markus, you know not what you have done and how much it means!!

"But their loyalty has shown no sign of fading, as 44,000 travelled from the south coast to see their side lift the trophy at the first time of asking and in their first appearance at the new Wembley"

"The Cumbrians will have to take solace in the £350,000 worth of gate receipts that each side received for making it to Wembley.

Given their recent history, the money will also come in handy for Southampton, who will see this trophy as another step on their long road to redemption"

These comments make me happy :D, i'm glad people are starting to wake up and realise what is going on down here.
