On Sunday March 28, 2010, Asteroid 2002 TE66 (220124) will pass by the Earth, at its closest approach of 0.1233 Astronomical Units.

 

1 A.U. = 150 000 000 Km (93 210 000 Miles).

 

2002 TE66 is +/- 0,940 Kilometres (0.584 Miles) in diameter.

So about 11,492,793 miles, which is well over half the distance inside the orbit of Venus at closest approach, or about 48 times the distance of the Moon from the Earth.

 

I'll not be loosing sleep just yet, S-i-P. :)

Actually I calculate it as within 7.5 million miles.

 

How's that..?
