Arizona Posted 25 March, 2010 Posted 25 March, 2010 Let's hope this one is a bit more interesting. TBF Melborne usually provides entertaining racing and Bahrain has always been a snorefest.
Pancake Posted 25 March, 2010 Posted 25 March, 2010 Cant believe this is on the same day as the JPT Final. Up early to watch this and then straight on the train so it better not be a friggin snoozefest.

St Landrew Posted 25 March, 2010 Posted 25 March, 2010 Up early to go sailing for this first time this year. I shan't be letting another procession get between me and my plans. In fact, they are going to have to prove it's worth watching before I tune in again. I've yawned too many times.
Michelle Posted 25 March, 2010 Posted 25 March, 2010 Hotel breakfast room at 7am to watch it. Gonna be a long breakfast!

Arizona Posted 26 March, 2010 Author Posted 26 March, 2010 McLarens quick in the morning sessions, but that may be due to fuel loads. Rain made things interesting.
Hatch Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 They said on Radio this morning that the Virgin cars did not have big enough fuel tanks to enable them to finish the next four races! is that True?
chrisobee Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 They said on Radio this morning that the Virgin cars did not have big enough fuel tanks to enable them to finish the next four races! is that True? Eh, don't get that. Could they not just stop every lap and refuel if needs be !
Michelle Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 Or a big one! At least it won't get cold, as it's continental buffet. Orange juice all round. With a shot of voddie for good measure.
Michelle Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 Eh, don't get that. Could they not just stop every lap and refuel if needs be ! Kinda ignores probably the biggest rule change this season. No refuelling.
RonManager Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 No refuelling. I'm not surprised with petrol at £1.20 a gallon!
Arizona Posted 26 March, 2010 Author Posted 26 March, 2010 They said on Radio this morning that the Virgin cars did not have big enough fuel tanks to enable them to finish the next four races! is that True? True and irrelevant. Neither VR will make it to half distance without breaking down.
Saint in Paradise Posted 26 March, 2010 Posted 26 March, 2010 I'm not surprised with petrol at £1.20 a gallon! I thought you paid that for a litre not a gallon
Townhillsaintsfan Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 How have virgin been able to make such a mistake? Surely the price of fuel has nothing to do with it, just the ability to hold enough... this cant be good for the whole of the virgin team. oh dear

Surely the price of fuel has nothing to do with it, just the ability to hold enough... this cant be good for the whole of the virgin team. oh dearI've heard a rumour, a strong one mind, that they're not the only Cosworth powered team to have undersized tanks and that this other one really should know better! Apparently, again unsubstantiated rumour, they were supplied fuel economy data that has proved to be slightly optimistic and will have to run the first 10 or so laps in fuel-saver mode. They'll be running very lean, hot, and slightly underpowered. To be fair, the casual observer (myself included) will probably not notice this in the general melée and tight formation of the opening laps.
Michelle Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Ponty, any idea what the heck was going on with Petrov? That car looked decidedly iffy - car problem or driver problem?

Arizona Posted 28 March, 2010 Author Posted 28 March, 2010 W00T!!! Pleased for Kubica too. Shame about the Red Bulls though. What was Webber thinking...
JackFrost Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Great drives by Button, Kubica and Alonso Great to see Chandhok finish the race also. It was exciting that race, I fear that was mostly down to the rain though. At least the next race in Malaysia the Sepang track provides a few overtaking opportunities
BadgerBadger Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Jensons smooth driving style may well pay off over the season with his ability to look after his tyres
Colinjb Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Jensons smooth driving style may well pay off over the season with his ability to look after his tyres I fear it may not be that simple, as the other drivers on the whole managed to keep the tyres sweet too. The tyres are too durable and can last the race distance, driving style, while having an effect, will not effect it to the degree where it can be utterly decisive for race results.

Ponty Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 No idea, sorry. Cold slicks on wet tarmac. Button did the same but was luckier about where he did it in that he managed not to get beached in the gravel.
Sheaf Saint Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 But it does provide a lot of rain. IIRC last year at Sepang the race was stopped because of monsoon conditions and half points were awarded.
Son of Bob Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Great Grand Prix I thought. Polar opposite to the season opener! Lots of good drives from people, especially Button & Kubica. Would have been interesting to see the outcome if one (or both) the Ferraris had got past the Renault though. Would have been even better I suspect.

Would have been interesting to see the outcome if one (or both) the Ferraris had got past the Renault though. Would have been even better I suspect. To me they didn't look all that interested in Kubica. Though Hamilton and Webber looked more likely to challenge the Ferrais if anything. Thinking back, there wasn't all that much action when the track dried out. Overtaking looked pretty difficult, especially when you consider Schumi was stuck behind Jaime Algae all race.

I disagree For me it was just a shame that Button's tyres were a couple of laps warmer than Robert's on lap 10/11 when he overtook him. I can only imagine the outcome if Rob had stayed in front of Jense at that stage.
Al de Man Posted 30 March, 2010 Posted 30 March, 2010 I'm not surprised with petrol at £1.20 a gallon! I thought you paid that for a litre not a gallon  That's what happens when to try and run imperial and metric systems concurrently.
