JPT Final - Saints vs Carlisle - Build Up

If anyone is like me and likes to buy a Program before the day and keep it at home so that it doesn't get beer stains on it.

The MegaStore have got a few in today (10 boxes x 50 ?) at £5.

I noticed that carlisle have been to the final of the JPT 4 times :-

2005/6 v Swansea LOST 2-1

2002/3 v Bristol City LOST 2-0

1996/7 v Colchester DREW 0-0 (won on pens 4-3)

1994/5 v Brum LOST 1-0 aet

The ref (Scott Mathieson) is from "up north" and a quick google says he has NOT reffed either team this year.

http://www.soccerbase.com/refs2.sd?refid=161&seasonid=139

He did 2 of our games last season -

(1) Cardiff away (1-2) where "killer" claimed he was pushed for their last min winner but imo Johnson just jumped early into the space stopped MS getting off the ground.

(2) The other game was a 0-0 draw at Charlton.

They took a throw-in. The guy receiving the ball decided he wanted to take it so caught it and then retook it. The ref allowed it. They scored.

It rained that day too.

It looks like its gonna hammer it down on Sunday. The new Wembley has a roof doesnt it??

Dont worry the forecast will change at least twice more before we get to Sunday. The BBC one for Central London has changed twice today already !!

Just keep your fingers crossed for a dry day....and a win !

I know the bottom tier is basically season ticket holders, but because it's Wembley and there will be a great deal of part timers, is it really that likely that we will be standing behind the goal? Especially in row 5. I will be severely ****ed off if I have to sit.

Its a cup final so anything can happen

You just have to go and do your best thats all you can do as my mother used to say

They are a good team which in some ways I think is a good thing as hopefully that will bring the best football out in us.

I told my son after Cardiff there would be another cup final in his lifetime.

I am sure AP knows how to prepare his side for this match

Win hopefully but whatever we are all Saints so lets enjoy the day

COYR

Can't wait for it! :D

I agree, however, I cannot find any where over here showing the game, I just went into one of my locals and they are not getting the game. Is their going to be a live stream going out via Justintv or any other internet tv come to that, if anyone has a heads up on that I would appreciate it.

Sky Sports have it and, according to the JPT website, "The Final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy takes place on Sunday 28th March. You can experience the match here live online on the day of the game." Not sure if that's video live or text live or what tho!

Never seen Alex Oxlade Chamberlain play, is he any good? Has he got good pace?

He is skillfull and very quick. Loads of potential and definetely one for the future. May not make the starting 11 but I hope he gets on at some point.

Forecast changed from heavy rain to light rain for Sunday. Hopefully by Saturday night will have changed to dry and sunny what with being in row 7. :)

I swear I read somewhere that Wembley has been built and designed so that wherever you sit you are under a roof.

but then again if there's a swirling wind...

I heard the same, but as you say a little bit of wind and the rain will soon be sideways..... still, won't dampen my spirits. COYR!!

Silly question but why werent we involved in the 1st round

http://www.johnstonespainttrophy.com/match-centre/2009-2010/first-round/

Because Saints had a bye.

You can't have a cup competition with 48 teams (24 League One and 24 League Two) and not have teams getting byes.

48 teams - 24 teams - 12 teams - 6 teams - 3 teams in the final just doesn't work! :D

A bit like at MK last week then...

I dont mind getting a bit wet if we get the same result.

Rickie for a hat-trick. What are the odds?
