Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 We finish 5 points outside the play-offs according to my set of results, and that's winning every game except for Brighton away, which we lose.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 We finish 5 points outside the play-offs according to my set of results, and that's winning every game except for Brighton away, which we lose. I'd think we're more likely to lose against Brizzle than Brighton;
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2010 Author Posted 23 March, 2010 We've already done Rovers at their place this season with a weaker team than we have now. Brighton are quality under Poyett.
saintray Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us to finish 6th on 80 points, to play millwall in 3rd! its going to be exciting!
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 We finish 5 points outside the play-offs according to my set of results, and that's winning every game except for Brighton away, which we lose. There is one main issue with what you've done. The results you've put in are rubbish. No way will this happen, and no way Norwich will finish on 106 points. Stick to the day job.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I've tried this a few times and not had us finishing in play-offs in any of them. There's always hope though.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us to finish 6th on 80 points, to play millwall in 3rd! its going to be exciting! So no more blips for us this season then. I just can't see it. I thought we'd win our last 7 at home and then came Swindon. We can be shut down too easily, we have players stacking up cards,we're beginning to get injuries thick and fast. Only a brave man would bet on us winning 10/10 .

No way will this happen, and no way Norwich will finish on 106 points. Stick to the day job. I went through the predictor looking at each fixture and entered how I thought it would come out, without clicking update until i'd entered them all. Norwich have actually got an easy run in. And anyway, how do you know what results I put in? I did it truthfully, not making our main rivals lose all the time and us win all the time, otherwise this thread would be pointless.
Turkish Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 We finish 5 points outside the play-offs according to my set of results, and that's winning every game except for Brighton away, which we lose. brighton are pony at home, won only 3 times, i think we are more likely to lose to Bristol rovers, who are on a decent run or slip up against someone we should beat like Yeovil or Gills away.
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2010 Author Posted 23 March, 2010 Gillingham's home record is very strong. So was Walsalls and Hartlepools I believe. So was Norwichs....
Appy Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 So was Walsalls and Hartlepools I believe. So was Norwichs.... I am aware of that, it just shouldn't be put down as an away banker.
Saint_clark Posted 23 March, 2010 Author Posted 23 March, 2010 I am aware of that, it just shouldn't be put down as an away banker. I wasn't doing that at all, I think I had that as a narrow 2-1 win.
Appy Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us missing out by a point to charlton. That would hurt.
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 S****horpe finished 6th last season with 76 points. To get 80 just to be sure we'd need to win all of our remaining 10 games. Unlikely, imo. To get 76 however we'd need 8 wins & 2 draws. We can't afford another defeat. Anyway don't know why I'm getting my hopes up as I just can't see it happening tbh.
Hatch Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 Brighton to finish 9th!! I thought they were going down.
fletch Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us missing out by a point to charlton. That would hurt. 2008/09 - 6th S****horpe 76 pts 2007/08 - 6th Southend 76pts 2006/07 - 6th Oldham 75pts 2005/06 - 6th Swansea 71pts 2004/05 - 6th Hartlepool United 71pts Stats prove you right on that one ****er.

At this stage last year S****horpe were on 58 points from 36 games, Colchester are already on 63 from the same number of games. This season the threshold for the play-off places will be abnormally high. It's a minimum of 80 points and to us that's 10/10 we have to win.
MorningtonCrescent Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us drawing two games and finishing 7th, 3 points short of Charlton in 6th. One of those draws is against Charlton at SMS! Interesting!
stmusicdude Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 There is one main issue with what you've done. The results you've put in are rubbish. No way will this happen, and no way Norwich will finish on 106 points. Stick to the day job. Its NOT rubbish lol but I think people often forget how the results at the bussiness end of season go allllllll over the place.. Norwich will lose a few but should win league .. colchester & charlton are struggling big time .. but will pick up points .. I think we are out of it really but what the hell do we really know .. The fat lady hasn't even started warming up
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 brighton are very poor at the Withdean 'Stadium' they've only picked up 15 of their 44 points there
Noodles34 Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 so with our deducted points we'd finish 3rd, are you watching CB Fry??
scott_saints Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 People seem to be forgetting we will have to win every game to reach the play offs. We're Saints. We don't "win every game". It's not we do. Thought people would realise by now.

John D Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 Anyone know what odds the bookies give us. And before you say - no I can't access them from work
saintjay77 Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 For us to stand a chance we have to win all our remaining games IMO. Its all down to everyone elses results for us to stand a chance. Any of our results go the wrong way and it will be preparing for next season automatic promotion push and defending the JPT with a bit of luck.
TheSaint75 Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 This is what i came up with TEAM P GD PTS 1 Norwich 46 54 104 2 Leeds United 46 36 91 3 Millwall 46 36 91 4 Swindon 46 24 88 5 Colchester 46 23 82 6 Charlton 46 19 81 7 Southampton 45 48 77 8 Huddersfield 46 21 76 9 Walsall 46 0 66 10 MK Dons 46 -3 64 11 Bristol Rovers 46 -3 63 12 Carlisle 46 -5 58 13 Brentford 46 -7 56 14 Yeovil 46 -9 53 15 Leyton Orient 46 -14 52 16 Southend 46 -16 52 17 Brighton 45 -12 49 18 Oldham 46 -19 47 19 Tranmere 46 -32 45 20 Hartlepool 46 -20 44 21 Exeter 46 -21 40 22 Gillingham 46 -24 40 23 Wycombe 46 -29 38 24 Stockport 46 -47 27

We'll win our last 10 then.Brighton -Southampton isn't on the BBC fixture list, it's next Thursday at 19H45 though.
treggs23 Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I had us down as two points behind Huddersfield going into the final game...obviously vastly superior goal difference...Southend also ended up two points from safety going into that final game on mine...squeaky bum time

Crab Lungs Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 Gah.... this is even if we win every game and a few bloopers from the rest....
James Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I just did it and have us finishing on 80 ahead of Colchester and Charlton. Playing Leeds who finish third. Interesting
chrisobee Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 Just on goal difference but that's winning every game, it could happen but realistically we know it will not !
LVSaint Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 At this stage last year S****horpe were on 58 points from 36 games, Colchester are already on 63 from the same number of games. This season the threshold for the play-off places will be abnormally high. It's a minimum of 80 points and to us that's 10/10 we have to win. But to be fair, S****horpe's last 10 games did not yield as many points as we can achieve till the end of the season. They only got 18 points, we have the ability to get more, I'd say at least 25. Still banking on the likes of Charlton and Colchester to falter. It's unlikely but possible as we are still on a fantastic run of form.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 March, 2010 Posted 23 March, 2010 I have us in 6th with 80pts on GD above Huddersfield. Just did the results as I saw them, but of course I assumed 10 from 10 for Saints. One error and we're toast for this season.
Barry the Badger Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 This is what i came up with TEAM P GD PTS 1 Norwich 46 54 104 2 Leeds United 46 36 91 3 Millwall 46 36 91 4 Swindon 46 24 88 5 Colchester 46 23 82 6 Charlton 46 19 81 7 Southampton 45 48 77 8 Huddersfield 46 21 76 9 Walsall 46 0 66 10 MK Dons 46 -3 64 11 Bristol Rovers 46 -3 63 12 Carlisle 46 -5 58 13 Brentford 46 -7 56 14 Yeovil 46 -9 53 15 Leyton Orient 46 -14 52 16 Southend 46 -16 52 17 Brighton 45 -12 49 18 Oldham 46 -19 47 19 Tranmere 46 -32 45 20 Hartlepool 46 -20 44 21 Exeter 46 -21 40 22 Gillingham 46 -24 40 23 Wycombe 46 -29 38 24 Stockport 46 -47 27 Spooky, mine ended up with the top 8 in the same order, with Charlton on 81 and us on 78.
RinNY Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 Gah.... this is even if we win every game and a few bloopers from the rest.... I'm not so sure Colchester will be reaching 80 points or more. They still have to play Millwall, Swindon, Charlton, Huddersfield, and Bristol, and given their recent dip in form I could seriously see them losing every one of those. At best, I'd think they'll do well to come away with 3 or 4 points from that lot, unless they have a major revival in their form. We probably still won't catch both them and Huddersfield, because in effect we'll have to win all our remaining fixtures, but if we were somehow to manage that, I think those are the two catchable teams.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 . They still have to play Millwall, Swindon, Charlton, Huddersfield, and Bristol, now if all those matches were drawn, that would really help us, but at the end of the day we'd need to win all of our games anyway. That's possible but these injuries are starting to hurt us and Sunday won't help either.Hope that we're not going to play injured players at Wembley and blow the rest of our season.

Charlton could are starting tol struggle too they have 9 games left 4 home 5 away , 6 of which are against top ten teams, and include Norwich, Leeds and Colchester Home and Huddersfield, Saints and MK Dons away.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 We finish 5 points outside the play-offs according to my set of results, and that's winning every game except for Brighton away, which we lose. Brighton will win there last 9 games???? Do we have a closet Brighton fans in da house??!?
LostBoys Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 Gah.... this is even if we win every game and a few bloopers from the rest.... This is what I made it give or take a point for the top 5 - but I have us Charlton and Huddersfield all on 80. Logically all teams will have one unforseen slip up at least in the last nine games.
scott_saints Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 Saints win 10 games in a row? More chance of Pompey winning the prem.
fletch Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 Gah.... this is even if we win every game and a few bloopers from the rest.... This will not happen - Why? Because stats prove that over the last 6 seasons no club finishing 6th has been above 79 pts, the average being 75. If we take that as gospel, and with my predictions (being very fair and sits with form) I get us on 75. So we do still, on paper, have very much a lookin.

fletch Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 In fact - scrub that! the average points for 6 th place over the last 6 seasons is 74 pts. Still very much do-able.
the great escape Posted 24 March, 2010 Posted 24 March, 2010 Saints win 10 games in a row? More chance of Pompey winning the prem. and it would actually be 11 games in a row ( including MK dons away)
