Block 5 Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 People collect trainers. FACT! It's a f*cked up world dude.
Spudders Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 Jesus, I've got a bit of a collection of adidas trainers and I've paid over £100 for them on a few occasion. But those just look awful. Not sure why anyone would want to spend that amount on them!
Dog Posted 20 March, 2010 Author Posted 20 March, 2010 People collect trainers. FACT! It's a f*cked up world dude. I know they do, I collect them myself. But £1700 was just out of my league.
Spudders Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 People collect trainers. FACT! It's a f*cked up world dude. lol, just to clarify after my post, I don't atually collect them, I just happen to have a lot of them. I know what you mean though, people keep them in boxes and don't even wear them, but I wear all mine. people do collect some odd things though, I know someone who collects coke cans & bottles!

I currently own 15 pairs of Adidas trainers of which I wear them all, the most expensive I have paid is £130 which was a bargain for the trainers I received, well worth over £350 due to being rare as rocking horse sh;t.
Dog Posted 20 March, 2010 Author Posted 20 March, 2010 £685 postage??? quote 'The reason why shipping is stated as GBP 685 is because I cannot demand immediate payment for an amount over GBP 1,000. '

Thanks for the clarification Spud. I was about to have you sectioned under the Mental Health Act / Section 64b - the collecting of trainers as a hobby or past-time for reasons other than the wearing of said footwear.

Ooooh snap, just counted mine and also have 15 pairs, so can't do the old 'my collection is bigger than yours' thing! Don't really collect them as such but I do like some of the older trainers. My favourites (and most costly) are both pairs of Roms I bought (both pairs the originals and not the reissues), got ones with blue trim which I prefer, but also got some of the green ones that were only issued to the west (or was it east?) German police back in the 80's. They are the rarest, but a bit of a snug fit, so don't wear them so much. Keeping my eye out for some red Roms on ebay but they only ever seem to have the re-issues. What are you £130 ones?

Hummm it's a very thin line between collecting stuff and just buying it because you like it and I'm pretty sure many people will think I am a bit sad having a lot of pairs of trainers but I don't class myself as a collector! I see the line as being wearing them or not wearing them. Like you say, that's what they are for!

Dog Posted 20 March, 2010 Author Posted 20 March, 2010 I am a bit of a **** when it comes to buying trainers, spent £180 this morning on a pair.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 Wouldn't wear them trainers, let alone pay that much for them.
Dog Posted 20 March, 2010 Author Posted 20 March, 2010 Wouldn't wear them trainers, let alone pay that much for them. TBF they would look sh;t on you anyway.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 TBF they would look sh;t on you anyway. Yeah, they would! I'll settle for my Sambas and Gazelles thanks :smt049
dune Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 Bought a pair of these last week. http://www.themenswearsite.com/footwear-c29/trainers-c33/gio-goi-bong-vulc-p77064 Personally i'm not really a big fan of adidas anymore.
Weston Super Saint Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 Fake fo'shure! He advertises sizes 8.5UK, but the last picture - of what I assume is the genuine label - shows size 11.5! These fakers should get their storrie straight, but good luck to anyone who spends that much money on a pair of £10 shoes!!
Chez Posted 20 March, 2010 Posted 20 March, 2010 do people put these items on ebay with unbelievable high prices in the hope that some drunk **** presses the buy it now button by mistake?
Michelle Posted 21 March, 2010 Posted 21 March, 2010 quote 'The reason why shipping is stated as GBP 685 is because I cannot demand immediate payment for an amount over GBP 1,000. ' Followed by, at the end of the description: "Immediate payment by PayPal required" - !?!?!?
benjii Posted 21 March, 2010 Posted 21 March, 2010 I've got two pairs of them. I use one for five-a-side and one for working in muddy fields.
RonManager Posted 21 March, 2010 Posted 21 March, 2010 I use mine for throwing at American Presidents.
NorthamSaint Posted 21 March, 2010 Posted 21 March, 2010 What about this watch to go with the trainers. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PATEKPHILIPPE-REF-5002P-CELESTRIAL-SKY-MOON-TORBILLION_W0QQitemZ310206867523QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPocket_Watches?hash=item4839c52843

If I had the money I would buy one. However, the person selling this can't spell 'Tourbillon', which is a little worrying. Anyone who buys a Patek Phillipe from Ebay deserves to be ripped off IMO.

bpsaint Posted 22 March, 2010 Posted 22 March, 2010 Crazy price for a pair of trainers, espically on ebay! Worryingly though someone will probably pay that. I bought a pair of these last month to satisfy the Star Wars geek in me... http://www.jdsports.co.uk/product/adidas-originals-x-star-wars-stormtrooper-superstar-ii/84914/
Block 5 Posted 22 March, 2010 Posted 22 March, 2010 I guess you bought one Block 5. #-o Nope. I stick to the rules (see below). Block 5's Important Rule #471 - Only purchase quality Swiss timepieces from an authorised dealer. I bought mine from http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/. Unfortunately I can't afford a Patek Phillipe.
View From The Top Posted 22 March, 2010 Posted 22 March, 2010 I know the seller via another forum. He is a serious trainerhead and has direct dealings with Adidas in North America and has access to releases well in advance.

Bought them, ran one 25K race with them and they killed my feet, threw them in a corner in disgust.Might have used them for gardening a couple of times, definitely wouldn't fetch 1000 £ though.
