Lend us a tenner Red Army... I've got a cert in the next!

Have you sorted out which horses are running at which time! Dee Ee Williams looks decent at 20's.

Took the 8.4 to place this morning and 30 to win. Trying to find the market for 5th place....

Thank god. £15 e.w

As I said on 9/3 in my pre Cheltenham thread :

Denham v Kauto Star but Imperial Commander cannot be discounted, free bets galore from the bookies. Can't wait!

For once I was right ;)

Can't remount in UK racing any more, so even if it went off at 2.05 and fell it would still be all over!

Missed that post earlier, didn't know that. When did they introduce that, more importantly why !?

Posted (edited)

They introduced it in November 2009 after complaints to the BHB about the welfare of the horses. Having had horses in the family for over 25 years I am totally in agreement as adrenaline can get them through the race yet they will break down later. You can however remount if you have been unseated. I was disappointed in Ruby cantering back on Kauto after he had such a horrible fall too.

Ok, thanks. It makes sense. I just have this idea in my mind of a race some years back where every horse ( I think there were only 4/5 starters) fell or were pulled up but one jockey remounted ( McCoy ?) and went on to win. I could just be dreaming the whole thing though in that dream it appeared on a sports quiz show. Question of Sport !?

Yeah Chris that did happen ( maybe Fontwell???) , Typical AP too, he remounts and wins while the others stand about watching. Anyway mate cheers for sorting these pages out this week, its been fun in an expensive , twisted way.

Lol, I enjoyed the racing and only ever play to small stakes these days, I sense you're someone who follows the golden rule too and only bets with money they can afford to lose.

I found the race on Youtube, it was Southwell so you we were close!

Yeah you're right mate, never bet more than you can afford to lose. No problem when Im in bookies but sometimes I get tempted to"bend" the rule when I am at the course. Usually after a few beers i should add! A good moan from the wife usually sets me straight though.
