saintsforlife7 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 (edited) I was at Tranmere and there today, and today's ref was worse because he was just biased against us, whereas last week he was bad both ways at some points. Fonte is wrestled to the ground and they get a freekick? Barnard clean through and tugged down, not even a foul? Lallana running to the ball, Leeds player running out of his way to smash Lallana out the way(American football like) no foul? Gradel not being sent off? Numerous fouls given on Lambert and Barnard and Jaidi and Fonte that Leeds got away with all day? Edit: and 1 if not two BLATANT dives by Beckford not booked but told to get up? Ref was a joke, and to think we are still too professional to let it bother us a we beat those smug ba****ds, happy days! Edited 13 March, 2010 by saintsforlife7 Beckford
beatlesaint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Quite frankly the ref was a disgrace. Most refs in this league are poor but he is a premiership ref FFS !! I was convinced he would give them something like a dodgy penalty, he did everything else for them after all. Thankfully he did not cost us all 3 points, cos thats certainly the way it looked like it was going. I assume he has been demoted from the Prem has he ?
OldNick Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 wasn't that bad.......few wrong decisions possibly, but that's the same of any match. Fonte was fouling the defender for our 'second' btwyou have to be kidding. It was right in front of me and their defender had his arms around Fonte and pulled him to the ground
Saint_clark Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision.

Mr Saints Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 He was shocking. Not just giving them a free kick when it was either our pen or our goal, his general decision making was ****ing ****. He wasn't even cheating, just totally out of his depth. Walton is a ****.
St_Tel49 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 wasn't that bad.......few wrong decisions possibly, but that's the same of any match. Fonte was fouling the defender for our 'second' btw With eyesight like that why aren't you a referee?
OldNick Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision.Saint Stevo can you talk us through how Fonte is doing the fouling please.?
Jesus Reigned Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision. Sums it up perfectly. By the way, Kisnorbo is a pr!ck too, the way he was stood over a Saints player and giving it large every time he didn't like a challenge; clearly fancies himself a a hard man, should maybe concentrate on being an average footballer first...
St_Tel49 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Then i don't want to hear it Why do you never say that to Alpine?
Daren W Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision. Oh god... those photos are shocking! it's like 90 minutes of swearing and cursing fully justified...
Dark Munster Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 A truly bizarre refereeing performance , I can't remember St Marys ever being quite so collectively angry with a match official . At times he was so one sided you started to go beyond questioning Peter Walton's competence and started to wonder about his integrity - perish the thought . I wonder if it was anything to do with AP's recent criticism of a fellow referee (the Tranmere dwarf)? Honour amongst refs, and all that?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Deffo the worst ref performance in living memory. I simply couldn't believe some of his decisions.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 the man should never ref again.as i said on other thread, you seriously have to wonder if he took a bung he was so against us in his decisions it became pointless moaning because you just knew he wasnt going to give us anything.the plus side was leeds never got in our area because he def would have given them a penalty
harvey Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 wasn't that bad.......few wrong decisions possibly, but that's the same of any match. Fonte was fouling the defender for our 'second' btw Lol!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt101
oxfordshire_saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Is there a case for saying Kisnorbo should've walked instead of getting a yellow when he fouled Rickie? Yes Rickie was out wide but had got the other side of Kisnorbo and had he not been fouled, would've had a clear angled run at goal. No point going into too much depth about the rugby tackle on Fonte, the pictures speak for themselves, I was sat in the Kingsland/Northam corner and could see it clearly. The only good thing I can say about the ref is that he failed to be fooled by Beckford and Becchio's tactic of never jumping for a header and just backing into Fonte or Jaidi followed by falling over.
Kingsland Nick Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 He is apparently the referees' representative at the Prospect union - that may explain why he has only been relegated to League One instead of being told to retire.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Oh and if a player goes to kick a ball at waist height and the opposing played decides to drop their head to that level, it's not a high foot. Tit.
dronskisaint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 I didn't see the Tranmere game but this was one of the worst refereeing performances I've seen anywhere. When the whistle went when the second 'goal' went in I cursed him initially for blowing for the penalty...I was dead level in Block 35 - when the ***** disallowed it I was incredulous! He was largely inept but I felt that he'd keep giving free kicks to them until they scored so cheating is definitely something I'd level at him. The Gradel punch in the back of Harding's head he & the linesman must have had a near perfect view of - if he saw it then there's no choice of colour...straight red! Now some are saying he booked Harding?!!? Cheating barsteward aside there was much to celebrate today...ok only the one goal but Leeds were comprehensively outclassed & they looked competent as a team - we just didn't let them play & produced all the footballing moments...really a pleasure to watch from defence through to attack - it would have been a real travesty if the ref had 'bought' them a win. NB...this is my 50th year of watching Saints...I'm struggling to think of a worse one but there's competition!
John Boy Saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Mr Walton made some of the dross in Black we have seen this year look like FIFA standard refs by comparison................................ he can bugger off the the namby pamby Prem as far as I am concerned.
TijuanaTim Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 I have watched Saints for 35 years and have witnessed some poor ref decisions but that was quite honestly the worst ref i have ever seen. He was consistantly poor from the moment he stated the game. They're confirming your opinion on other sites as well. Even on the 'ugly', where we normally take the p!ss and have 'Top 3s'...someone is demanding an inquiry and claiming the center ref was 'corrupt'....strong stuff, must be some substance to it.
revolution saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 An incompetent ref will get things wrong for both sides but this ref was consistently calling bad decisions in leeds favour. He was without doubt the worst ref I've seen. The penalty/goal disallowed decision was unbelievable and I got the impression he tried to be "strong" by not doing what refs normally do when they've made a mistake and even up the score. If that was a premiership referee then I'm glad we don't play in that division. Quite simply awful. The guy was a joke.
itchen_dan Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 wasn't that bad.......few wrong decisions possibly, but that's the same of any match. Fonte was fouling the defender for our 'second' btw How?!?! Please explain how you came to that conclusion... You can clearly see Becchio has Fonte in a headlock and thus drags him to the floor!
Graffito Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Worst refereeing performance I've seen in all the years I've been watching. He got plenty of stick and it was fully justified but just imagine what the reaction would have been like if this imbecile's incomprehensible decisions had cost us a win we thoroughly deserved.
Graffito Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision. Saint Stevo - that must have been some hangover man.
s0108787 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision. i just laughed my nuts off at that. I Was in the itchen north dead level with that and was absolutely gobsmacked when the goal was disallowed for a foul on a leeds man. I think for a moment all of us thought we'd been given a penalty!
Toadhall Saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Yeah ref, Fonte was all over him. Good decision. Got to be the most damning set of photos I think I've seen and to think that was just one bad decision in a catalogue of bad decisions. :-x
Loyal Saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 He was shocking. Couldn't make my mind up whether he was inept or just cheating. He tried hard to keep them in the game & lets hope he has the same Saturday night as the Leeds fans; a long journey home and plenty of time to dwell on a **** poor performance
Toadhall Saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Deffo the worst ref performance in living memory. I simply couldn't believe some of his decisions. Lets not forget the linesmen - I can understand the ref not seeing the clear handball 1 yard off the line in the 1st half but, the linesman was in line and had a better view than me and i'm in line with the penalty spot. Not one to criticise the officials normally but those today????????
tonibell Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 I have watched Saints for 35 years and have witnessed some poor ref decisions but that was quite honestly the worst ref i have ever seen. He was consistantly poor from the moment he stated the game. Ive only been watching for just over a year (28 years old) and today plus last week (the pink midget)were the WORST I have ever seen. But three points today. COYR
Wes Tender Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Barnard was clipped, but thought it looked a bit like barnard running accross the defender and getting accidently taken down, the defender couldnt have got out the way IMO. He wasn't good, but he wasn't THAT bad i didn't think. A few decisions went against us, or didnt go for us, but build a bridge, get over it, we won. Typical saint_stevo after a reaction. Did you actually go to the match? If so, did you actually watch it? If so, when was your last eye test?
Wes Tender Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Lets not forget the linesmen - I can understand the ref not seeing the clear handball 1 yard off the line in the 1st half but, the linesman was in line and had a better view than me and i'm in line with the penalty spot. Not one to criticise the officials normally but those today???????? And the linesman on the Itchen line was stood virtually next to Harding getting clobbered by Gradel, was it? His flag arm didn't even twitch. Gormless blind, incompetent tw*t. That was as clear a sending off as I've ever seen.
Chorlton Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Deffo the worst ref performance in living memory. I simply couldn't believe some of his decisions. Not there today as have been out of action for a few weeks with illness. My wife took the boy to the match and they are both going on about this ref. But worst ref in living memory? FF, the centenary match against Everton at The Dell? please say he wasn't worse than the ref that day (Mr Cotton or something?)
harvey Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 (edited) Not there today as have been out of action for a few weeks with illness. FF, the centenary match against Everton at The Dell? please say he wasn't worse than the ref that day (Mr Cotton or something?) He was an absolute joke. The first couple of decisions that were blatently wrong, you could maybe forgive him for......just to be generous. But he was consistently useless throughout the whole game, we could have quite easily of lost the game due to the referee's incompetence. Edited 13 March, 2010 by harvey
StD Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Definately the worst referee I've seen in 20 years of watching football, a lot of which has been L1 and L2. Can't believe this guy was supposedly Premier League. I'm just thankful that in the end he didn't cost us the result we deserved.
st_dan Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 It was the worst and most inept ref I have ever seen at St Marys, the chants of "How much are they paying you" were right on the button. It's an absolute disgrace and I bet the FA are neither aware or will investigate. Absolutely shocking that 30k+ people pay good money to watch a game and the one man with any authority in the outcome isn't up to the job.
warsash saint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 He had to be cheating, surely ?? I counted 6 handballs that were blantently missed, the disallowed goal was a disgrace (as the pictures have shown), Barnards clip, the not sending off the Leeds dwarf for raising his hands, the bookings, every over foul etc etc & he was a Premiership ref:eek: God help us !!
1976_Child Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 I have watched Saints for 35 years and have witnessed some poor ref decisions but that was quite honestly the worst ref i have ever seen. He was consistantly poor from the moment he stated the game. 35 Years??? Matey oh mine, that was the f-k-ing worst refereeing since Herod! F'king first half the chappie lost it for c-unting sure.... ****ing disgrace of a ref. Thank the good Lord we won, 'cause if we hadn't I would have invited Satan to set down a few burning coals upon his dumb arsed chest..
krissyboy31 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 He wasn't good, but he wasn't THAT bad i didn't think. A few decisions went against us, or didnt go for us, but build a bridge, get over it, we won. He was shocking and we went with a Leeds supporter, who agreed that the guy was an absolute clown.
Tamesaint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 (edited) A coule of weeks ago Peter Walton took a lot of stick from the 5 Live commentators for his performance in a match. I cannot rememvber now which game. Perhaps he has been demoted to the FL. I really think that whoever took those pictures should send them to the national press and the FA. The sooner that Peter Walton gets sacked the better. Edited 13 March, 2010 by Tamesaint Trouble with the p key on this lato.
krissyboy31 Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 & he was a Premiership ref:eek: God help us !! Now you know why he now refs League 1 and not the Prem.
Saint Luke Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 Saint Stevo with the damining evidence of the pictures you have gone very quiet. Maybe your hangover has got the better of you.
Tamesaint Posted 13 March, 2010 Posted 13 March, 2010 I must admit that when the first chants against him started up, I was a bit emabarassed. I hadn;t thought they were fouls / had seen our player commit an offence so did not agree with the protests. By half time I was livid!! He was awful.,,, and that was before the Gradel / Harding incident. That man must not be allowed to referee again!!
Junior Mullet Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 The ref today cheated. I can forgive a ref who doesnt see everything, we are all human afterall. But he must have seen several blatant fouls against us and handballs by Leeds yet chose to stick two fingers up to the crowd by giving decisions Leeds' way. He wanted to show the crowd who was boss. I hope he gets severely reprimanded. Most inconsistent and just plain curious ref performance I can remember seeing. Cheat.
Arizona Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 Just seen the disallowed goal on the Football League Show. Feckin' 'ell, how can you see that as a foul AGAINST Leeds...
1976_Child Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 Just seen the disallowed goal on the Football League Show. Feckin' 'ell, how can you see that as a foul AGAINST Leeds... YUP.
OfnPanad Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 This week's ref, last week's ref...a gun with only one bullet...decisions, decisions!!!
St_Tel49 Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 This week's ref, last week's ref...a gun with only one bullet...decisions, decisions!!! Line them up side by side ;-)
St_Tel49 Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 A friend of mine who is a Leeds United supporter and listened to the match on LUTV said that even their commentators were embarrassed by how one sided the refereeing was.
