StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can we not do an open-top bus parade through the town... that would probably class as one of the most cringeworthy moments in my Saints supporting life if we did.
niceandfriendly Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I don't think anyone was even considering that. Would never happen.
Golden Balls Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 A low key 'parade' before a home game will do.
StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Author Posted 10 March, 2010 I don't think anyone was even considering that. Would never happen. Luton did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jZYPYoPdhk
The Saturday Boy Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 It would be rather cringeworthy but I wouldn't rule it out as the club do seem to be going a bit OTT on it all - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1989015,00.html
Charlie Wayman Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Is it the European Cup, the Intertoto Cup, The FA Cup, the Carling Cup? Is it fuggery.. If we win it bin it, like all other empty paint tins.
Dig Dig Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I heard we are going to strap the JPT on Anthony Pulis' back make him crawl through the high street. We need to put him to use for a change
StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Author Posted 10 March, 2010 Why not? It's a day out for the nippers. No, it would be the most cringeworthy event ever to happen at SFC and would top Lowe, Ted Bates Statue, Saints Trust and Students and the most embarrassing thing EVER.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Oh god - anyone seen celebrating this tin pot cup should be jailed for life. Just kidding (or am I)
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 No, it would be the most cringeworthy event ever to happen at SFC and would top Lowe, Ted Bates Statue, Saints Trust and Students and the most embarrassing thing EVER. You really need to stop worrying about what other people think about us. Fair enough it's a noddy cup for noddy clubs, but as an event the nippers would enjoy it. We've had several years of doom and gloom, so it's about time the nippers had some days they can enjoy. You are getting old Stu.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Get over yourselves. If you're embarrassed about YOUR club celebrating winning our first trophy in 34 years... FFS!!!!!!!!
SaintDonkey Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Is it the European Cup, the Intertoto Cup, The FA Cup, the Carling Cup? Is it fuggery.. If we win it bin it, like all other empty paint tins. If we win it'll be the first silverware for a generation. Yes it's not the most prestigious trophy out there, but why the hell shouldn't we celebrate? Some people on here are miserable barstewards, if all you care about is the 'big' competitions then bugger off and support a 'big' club.
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Get over yourselves. If you're embarrassed about YOUR club celebrating winning our first trophy in 34 years... FFS!!!!!!!! It's ironic that the OP has organised a bus, a pub, and shed loads of tickets for a game that's cringeworthy and embarrassing.
Dig Dig Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 It's ironic that the OP has organised a bus, a pub, and shed loads of tickets for a game that's cringeworthy and embarrassing. LOL!
Golden Balls Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Oh god - anyone seen celebrating this tin pot cup should be jailed for life. Just kidding (or am I) Imagine if supporters from other clubs that entered this comp saw this thread! What a bunch of ungreatful bunch of sh1ts we seem! I do think an open top bus tour would be over the top. But we should most definitely celebrate it IF (IF) we win it!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Imagine if supporters from other clubs that entered this comp saw this thread! What a bunch of ungreatful bunch of sh1ts we seem! I do think an open top bus tour would be over the top. But we should most definitely celebrate it IF (IF) we win it! Celebrate for 4 or 5 minutes after the final whistle - no problem. But dont EVER mention it as a success as it really isnt a very good one.
StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Author Posted 10 March, 2010 It's ironic that the OP has organised a bus, a pub, and shed loads of tickets for a game that's cringeworthy and embarrassing. Erm.... Wembley day out, yes please. Bothered if we win it? No, not in the slightest. If Saints win I will be safely back in the boozer by the time we go up the steps to lift the trophy.
CWD Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Luton did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jZYPYoPdhk tbf, Luton were in such a bad way at the time that nobody would blame them for organising a bit of a morale boost! I agree it would be a little OTT for us to do it, I'd much prefer something more low key like a parade around the stadium before a game or something. However my 10 year old brother would love it - and I would deffo go along for the feel good factor! Im definitely not embarassed by celebrating our success after the time weve had
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Erm.... Wembley day out, yes please. Bothered if we win it? No, not in the slightest. If Saints win I will be safely back in the boozer by the time we go up the steps to lift the trophy. I'm bothered if we win it. Very bothered. It's gonna put a downer of the rest of the session if we lose.

If Saints win I will be safely back in the boozer by the time we go up the steps to lift the trophy. Whats the point then? You could go to Wembley any season you like if it's just a day out you want.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 tbf, Luton were in such a bad way at the time that nobody would blame them for organising a bit of a morale boost! And we dont need a morale boost? You do realise we had no pre-season, almost lost our club forever and ever and started the season -10. We are in a worse state now than Luton were ever in
CWD Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Erm.... Wembley day out, yes please. Bothered if we win it? No, not in the slightest. If Saints win I will be safely back in the boozer by the time we go up the steps to lift the trophy. If saints win I'll be staying in the stadium for as long as the lads are celebrating on the pitch. We owe them that support and it'll be a great moment after the **** we've had. I cant really understand why anyone would leave!
StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Author Posted 10 March, 2010 Whats the point then? You could go to Wembley any season you like if it's just a day out you want. Not really, not to watch Saints. Don't get me wrong, I would like us to win, like I would in any other game, but it won't ruin the day out for me if we don't.
CWD Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 And we dont need a morale boost? You do realise we had no pre-season, almost lost our club forever and ever and started the season -10. We are in a worse state now than Luton were ever in GS i specifically said "I wont be embarrassed celebrating our success after the time we've had". I assume this is tongue in cheek?! Luton started the season on -30 and were relegated from the football league pretty much before they started the season. We aren't even in a 'state' now

We owe them that support and it'll be a great moment after the **** we've had. I cant really understand why anyone would leave! 'Cos it's not cool to celebrate unless it's against pompey of the champions league final by the looks of things. Yes it's not a big coup, but after what we've been through and the lack of trophies I will ever see Saints win, why not celebrate winning a trophy?
JRM Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 it will be nice to have the squad picture at the start of next season with a trophy at their feet. when Luton won it they even gave fans a chance to have their picture taken with it, the trophy is massive, about 3ft tall!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 it will be nice to have the squad picture at the start of next season with a trophy at their feet. when Luton won it they even gave fans a chance to have their picture taken with it, the trophy is massive, about 3ft tall! Couldnt take it on a bus anyways then - H&S! Imagine if Davies dropped it onto some scally head?
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Not really, not to watch Saints. Don't get me wrong, I would like us to win, like I would in any other game, but it won't ruin the day out for me if we don't. It won't ruin my weekend either, but if you won't admit losing would put a dampner of your **** up you're fibbing.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Luton did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jZYPYoPdhk Kin ell that is sad as fook !!
CWD Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Would you be a bit embarrassed? Just a little? nope. 100% serious. I couldnt give a flying **** about what other fans think of us.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Look, no joke here. I think it's brilliant we've got to the final, I'm going to have a great day out, BUT I have to agree with the people saying no bus tour. I would want the ground to swallow me up if that happened.
miserableoldgit Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 It would be rather cringeworthy but I wouldn't rule it out as the club do seem to be going a bit OTT on it all - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1989015,00.html Why shouldn`t the club do this?? Taking 44,000 fans to a final at the new Wembley IS a big deal regardless of what competition it`s in. ML and NC want the club to be self-financing so they are obviously going to try and raise revenue off the back of success.
BadgerBadger Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Celebrate for 4 or 5 minutes after the final whistle - no problem. But dont EVER mention it as a success as it really isnt a very good one. It's views like this that will turn our club into a a bunch of morons. Remember signing 'Shall we sing a song for you' to the Arsenal fans after they'd won the FA Cup, we we're celebrating more than they were.
Saint_clark Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I will celebrate after the game, on the way home, out on the town the night after and probably for a good while after. BUT - an open top bus would be very embarrassing.
beatlesaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Is it the European Cup, the Intertoto Cup, The FA Cup, the Carling Cup? Is it fuggery.. If we win it bin it, like all other empty paint tins. Can we assume from this that you are NOT going to Wembley ?
Plumstead_Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Bothered if we win it? No, not in the slightest. Don't get me wrong, I would like us to win :smt046
StuRomseySaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Author Posted 10 March, 2010 :smt046 Selective cut and paste there f'sure. I would 'like' us to win, but not bothered in the slightest if we don't... won't ruin my day... do you not grasp that?
yellow&blue Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Even if we did an open top bus tour - I doubt very much that it will ever go through Millbrook again and past the Saints Pub like it did in '76 either............
saints_is_the_south Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I find it hilarious that those who are claiming it would be embarassing to celebrate winning the JPT are still actually going to Wembley. If it's so embarassing why are you going to the game in the first place? We aren't in the Premiership anymore, not even the CCC. We're a League 1 club for now so get used to it ffs.

If it's so embarassing why are you going to the game in the first place? We aren't in the Premiership anymore, not even the CCC. We're a League 1 club for now so get used to it ffs. BECAUSE it is a day out at Wembley, our first at the new stadium, it's a chance to be amoungst 44k other Saints fans getting smashed and having a good time. The actual game to me is a bit of a side-show. Winning the trophy isn't embarassing, celebrating it like it's the FA Cup is... This is nothing more than a poor mans Charity Shield in my book.
acersaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I think the posters putting down the JPT are being very unkind to the lower league teams who maybe will play at a higher level and why shouldn't they have an opportunity to play at Wembley. Let's not put them down. We are very fortunate to have the infrastructure and the backing that we have. That will get us back to the premiership but let's not undermine the value this competition has for lower league teams. I couldn't get a ticket but will still enjoy the day and if we win I will be happy to join in any celebrations going without any embarrasment whatsoever.
acersaint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 I meant to say " who maybe will never play at a higher level"
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 The actual game to me is a bit of a side-show. I can see where you're coming from here. The game is just 2 hours of a 72 hour session i've got planned, but if we lose it will be a bit of a downer. Getting wasted when you're on a natural high is far better than getting wasted on the back of a defeat.

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 No to buses, no to the stupid banners that are being put up, no to stupid way in which the merchandising arm of SFC has gone into over-drive! Yes, it's a lovely day out to watch Saints at Wembley, but it's not exactly 2003 is it!?
