Michelle Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 Cardiff and Southend both given final deadlines to pay up, or be wound up in the coming weeks. Skates back in court next Monday... Four dead and buried by the end of the season?
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 Can someone explain how Risdale is allowed to be involved in the running of any football club?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 I know Chester were without a League for being kicked out, but they were wound up for owing around £26,000. Pompey owe tens of millions of pounds, and they are being treated like royalty compared to poor old Chester.
South City Si Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 It certainly shows that the HMRC isn't going soft on anyone. Monday could be very interesting. RIP Chester, like the clubs that have gone before it. Interesting to think P*mpey trying to use theri 'history' and age of the club as an excuse not to let it go, but Chester is an older club! Huntingdon Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 I recently saw an interview with Michael Owen He confessed to having a soft spot for Chester, he used to watch them as a kid & still lives in the area For the sake of £26,000 it would have been a nice touch from Owen to give something back to the game & save his club
keithd Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 For the sake of £26,000 it would have been a nice touch from Owen to give something back to the game & save his club would have been like giving the kiss of life to a beefburger. the 26k would have kept the wolf from the door for another month, then HMRC would have come a knocking again shame. many more will follow without doubt. i think i read or heard somewhere the total debt of all the clubs in the Prem is greater than the rest of Europe's premier leagues combined. stevegrant Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 Chester being wound up should be looked as a positive for the fans, they've been pleading with the Football League, Football Conference and FA to take action against their owners for ages. It now allows them to make a fresh start without the nasty smell of Stephen Vaughan hanging around the club running it into the ground.
Saint Keith Posted 10 March, 2010 Share Posted 10 March, 2010 my old boss was a NED at chester city about 10 years ago for a couple of seasons, he resigned after the then chariman and owner sacked the club captain "for standing in the wrong place at a free kick" :-D he also recounted the story of when mark wright was manager, and was ****ging the top scorers missus, and then had him sold when he got found out spoke to him earlier today, and its exactly what the vast majority of fans wanted to happen. new club is being formed, might have to start of in a league sponsored by a glue maker, but if they can keep gates of 1500+ shouldnt take them long to get back to the conference
