How do you know this?

ITK?

Speculation?

????

the turn around of players in this league is very high...for all clubs...I cant see saints being any different.

more than likely....these players will not be here next year

Perry

Thomas

Jaidi

Morgan

Connolly

Waigo

Murty

yes I know these are squad players..but it is a squad game next season and we will have more new faces that need to bed in..

it took till jan (apparently) to have a settled side etc..

MLT ... talking about Huddersfields unbeaten run. .....and WE completely battered them. Once a Saint always a Saint.

Backs up AP as well. Good man.

Realistic views .... echoes AP views .... not the end of the world if we didn't make the playoffs ..... another unambitious man then ..... in the eyes of some.

Be fair Delldays, until january we didn't even have a first team that we were happy with.

I know this because we have at least 3 players who will not tolerate another season at this level; They are good players they will not want to get 3 bales of crap kicked out of them at Tranmere and Wycombe any longer. It's football, there is a precedent.

ITK it is then...

Isn`t really is it?

Just guess work.

And who are these players and where will they go?

CCC maybe, still very physical in there too

Well i'm sure you will be more than happy to say "I was wrong" when we don't let those three players go.

says who..we went on a cracking run of games that saw us produce great away form on crap pitches.....

yeah we should have had Mills.....

It would have made no difference if he was...

Just something to have a go at Pardew...

Desperate if you ask me

We will face next season with an entirely different side, all this we will walk that league next season...well I've heard it all before.

No we won't. The only players I think may not be here next year are Lallana and Spiderman, even then they may surprise me and stay, they are not exactly world beaters at present. They will be better off staying with us and getting promotion. As for the rest almost certain every permanent AP signing will still be here. Couple more brought in during the summer and we will be well set.

I'll admit it, I wouldn't be at all sad (or worried) if he wasn't here come Monday; he will be though so I guess I'll get over it. He is a so so manager and we could do so much better.

A mule kicking freekicker with a high degree of accuracy is a big seller in today's football.

Soft by all accounts.

And this post proves you only want to have a go at pardew..

Never mind the missed chances eh?

If those had been taken the rest may ave not occured but we will never know

What we do know is it`s AP fault because he made the penalty happen.

FFS

Any thing to have a go at him...but you did reckon Twotte would keep us up

so you view is a bit of a joke tbh.

I'm sorry, i'm a little confused - is WC trying to have a dig at Rickie Lambert with this post?????

Yep who..

Bet there is a big queue of "BIG" names waiting and they will do

a better job.......Guaranteed

Get a new man in and slag him off too...

Yep, there are better managers for getting out of League 1.We play too much long ball and if you close Lambert down we're f*cked.Happened again today it would seem. Ince is a knob but he'd probably do a far better job than Pardew but I'd go for Darren Ferguson myself if we could get him here .

Our away form in the league over the last eight games is not much better than relegation form - 1-4-3. God what a waste today was.

We've only got five away games left in the league. AP has to get this team to figure out how to win at least three of them - to set us up for next season.

Posted

The same people who had already written off our play-off chances are now writhing in agony about a sloppy defeat to Tranmere... which was already irrelevant, apparently.

I think perhaps we have too many big girls blouses on this forum.

People who enjoy despair, maybe?

I still think there will be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the season and our chances of going up got a little bit worse today. Not much worse, just a little.

Posted
agree...even a draw is a poor result IMO...which also does not mean I want pardew out.

Agreed

But some of the blame has to lie with players it cannot all be AP`s fault

like some our making out...

That I agree with. What's changed about our approach away from home? Should we go back to the 4-5-1 that saw us win 3-1 three games on the spin?

Okay girls you can all stop your quibbling ... todays feck up was nowt to do with AP ... it was all down to me ... changed my drinking routine from Old Speckled Hen to Fullers ESB .... what was I thinking .... never change a winning combination (and quickly forget all those OSH defeats).

But in joint first place with me is the 'tater who proudly announced that only Swindon and us went into today as the only L1 teams unbeaten in 2010, and now it is only us (after the earlier results).

From total strugglers with no chance we have become a side who can produce extraordinary results fairly often, but struggles with a fair frequency away against lowly opposition. That is one variation of being inconsistent, and shows that we're not the final product yet. That's not really surprising news, is it?

Love the slating of refs despite the fact nobody has actually seen any of the incidents.

Well done.

I have, now back at our Chester hotel, there was a blatant push on Barnard in the box 2nd half in front of us, Fonte "dive" was a pen as he was pulled back, their pen (at the other end looked like their bloke fell over trying an overhead kick after dinking it over a defender, and the free kick they crossed for the opening goal wasn't a foul either.

When the ref gets booed off and called "cheat" repeatedly and various versions of "2-1 to the referee", "you're not fit to referee", "who's the midget in the pink?" and we spent most of the second half sarcastically cheering any decision in our favour, that kind of stuff suggests it wasn't the team at fault.

Pitch wasn't perfect but it was dry and mostly flat if a bit bare, we played decent football and when we didn't it was a lack of tempo rather than anything else. Probably deserved to win 2-1ish on another day, but with our squad we need to be getting out of sight so terrible refs still can't hurt us.

We're clearly one of the best 8 teams in the league, the best on our day, too many off days away though and we need to move the ball quicker (Puncheon in particular was hogging it a little). But we did start with a 20 point handicap on the top sides by the time we'd got started...

a real chance to close the gap today. However as i predicted before the game the fact that its southampton means we get this sort of result all to often. That for me means play offs are beyond us. I do wonder why we were so poor though

Posted

Lets put this game behind us (look at Norwich since we beat them) and enjoy the rest of the season with hopefully a lot more wins. Play offs were always going to be difficult to achieve but i suppose we had a bit of a chance if we could win at crap places like Wycombe, Exeter, Brentford and Tranmere.

Give AP a chance and if he doesn't achieve next season then we'll have to see.

Pardew said on Radio Solent that "a couple of players under-performed today" [or words to that effect]. Seems to me that we don't seem to be able to win games when that happens. To be fair to AP - he gives the lads a game plan/formation & a certain job to do before each game as they're all 'different games'. It's then down to the players to all give 100% once they cross that white line. If they don't - ala today at Tranmere - then the blame lays with the players underperforming.

The flip side of the coin of course is that if a player or two isn't performing - then changes need to be made in the form of substitutes. And today - I think Pardew left it too late to change things - especially if "1 or 2" were under-performing long before changes were actually made on 80-odd minutes.

I'm probably one of Pardew's biggest fans/supporters out there btw - and dearly want him to stay for reasons too numerable to mention. I do wish...just sometimes...when things aren't going quite right (like today) - he'd ring the changes 20 mins to go rather than 10!!!

Just got back

Ref may not have been perfect but i dont think we should have got either of the penalty shouts, the pitch wasnt too bad and though there penalty didnt look a penalty from the far end, if there was a foul then it was an unnesseccary challenge.

Also thought Lallana and Puncheon were trying to be abit too clever today, obviously confident from the last two games but sometimes its better to calm things down and play the safe ball.

The penalty claim in pictures: you decide!

Looks like I had a better view from the back row of the stand at the opposite end than the ref did 10 yards away with Scheiderlin stood in the way. Absolutely, definitely wasn't a penalty and those pics show why he gave it, because he couldn't see.

Posted
And your reaction to the win at Norwich and the results 5 goal results against Walsall and Huddersfield was? Some supporter you are! You have to take the good AND the bad. Today was disappointing but NOT pathetic.

Losing to Tranmere is a disgrace.

Posted

Just back - 2-1 to the referee!!!!!!!!

We did enough to win - JUST. Lallana & Barnard missed 2 good chances.

We had 2 defo pens. 1 for a push & Fonte was clipped. There was also a clear foul on Barnard by Broomes as he is running through whose arm is accross his body stopping him from getting in front of him. He kept saying to Saints players that the players were coming together! Utter joke. The ref was shocking totally shocking. In the first half Tranmere were repeatedly all over us for headers often watching the man & not interested in the ball.

Their first goal did not look like a free kick in the first place, but we defended badly leaving their centre half to be marked by Puncheon.

A number of players did not play well including Puncheon, Lallana & Hammond. I dont know what Lambert has to do to get a free kick?

As far as I am concerned our play off push is over & we win need to learn to win ugly.

Posted

tbh I expected a loss to Tranmere as they always seem to pull on out the bag against us. A real Saints bogey team.

I am not going to forget getting into the playoffs as with every season (bar the last season with admin) we are always in with something in the last game, whether relegation or promotion.
