Stepgar Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Thats why we wont make the playoffs - unable to beat teams that we should be beating comfortbly. Blame the ref if you will, but we still need to be putting the ball in to the et more than the oppo Sad day, but reality bites!
scott_saints Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 We're Saints. It's only right that this happened.
VectisSaint Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Reality check for those who were in cloud cuckoo land and thought we would still make it to the play-offs. We blew it at Exeter, not today. Still hurts to lose, long time since we did (apart form the Skates which didn't really matter)
Nexstar Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Huddersfield, Swindon and Millwall all lose which means we have missed a great opportunity to make up ground. But what I can’t understand is how officials are unable to do their jobs when it comes to giving decisions that they have trained their careers around. The football league referees are a joke.
Saint_clark Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Nevermind. I don't agree with those who say that the players signed expecting promotion. We should be fully focused on next season - and if Cortese fires Pardew before next season, it is due to his impatience rather than Pardews inability to produce results.
NickG Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 can't complain too much after enjoying seeing 10 goals in 4 days last week. disappointing though. Don't believe the stories of Cortesse's anger.
Katalinic Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Poor result. We can concentrate on the cup now though.
saintsmike25 Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Decisions are always debatable if they go for you or against you. What we have to do is move on. Referee's are apparently a joke at all levels of football.. Never blame the ref the fact is we didn't score or put away our chances or adapt enough on these type of pitches and perhaps that is down to the team not just Pardew. Responsibility should be held down at all levels.
Hopkins Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Love the slating of refs despite the fact nobody has actually seen any of the incidents. Well done.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Said we'd lose or draw. Not impressed. 5-0 win last week and beaten 2-1 by a struggling team this week. Some things will never change.
samski saint Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 I blame the score centre for getting my hopes up and then f*cked them.
S-Clarke Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 to have a chance we had to pretty much win all our remaining games, and hope for some slip ups. It ended today. I'm not too bothered about not going up this year, as Pardew has said ''another year of winning will do no harm'' - it should be a great laugh next year. But whether pardew is here to deliver that, is another question all together.
Wade Garrett Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 We need a plan B to fall back on when we are playing on crappy pitches against physical sides. That said, no need to panic. It's all about next season.
Mark`` Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Their best player for the Ref lets bet fully serious
brightspark Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Huddersfield, Swindon and Millwall all lose which means we have missed a great opportunity to make up ground. But what I can’t understand is how officials are unable to do their jobs when it comes to giving decisions that they have trained their careers around. The football league referees are a joke. As a referee myself, I'm really looking forward to seeing these decisions on replay. I know all to well about fan over-reaction and bias so I'm trying not to "jump to conclusions". However I see myself as a good referee who tries blaady hard every game, and have a wee ambition to maybe referee in the FL one day. So maybe if they're crap, i've a better chance of getting in!!?!
Thedelldays Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 utterly crap result...our away form for what we want to achieve is average at the mo
kpturner Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Agree with stepgar, we have blown itThought you were going for a walk?
Nexstar Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Love the slating of refs despite the fact nobody has actually seen any of the incidents. Well done. Speaking to people at the game, I think it's enough to pass on their opinion. And Millwall drew in the end.
red&white56 Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Disappointed - but then I'm a Saints fan, so what's new....
kpturner Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Their best player for the Ref lets bet fully serious Rearrange these words into a meaningful sentence
obelisk Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 What makes you think we'll do any better on these pitches against crap sides next season?
.comsaint Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 5-1 and 5-0 cracking wins...followed by defeat at lowly Tranmere. If that isn't Saints to a tee - I dunno what is! Some things in life don't ever change.
doddisalegend Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 ****ing Ref was a joke. Having said that it should have all been over in the first half. No doubt Pardew will bare the brunt of the fallout but some of our players need to look at themselves too. How can they play so well one day and play that badly in the second half. Still I've said all along playoffs weren't going to happen this season so I'm not to bothered apart from I don't like us to lose.
Legod Third Coming Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 utterly crap result...our away form for what we want to achieve is average at the mo I think it's mental. There was nothing wrong with the pitch today, and precious little wrong with it at Wycombe... So what is wrong when we play away from home??
Saints foreva Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Yet another reason why next season won't be a easy ride like so many on here are predicting. Terrible result and another poor display from the lads. Very disappointing. IMO Pardew could get sacked if we don't beat Leeds next week...
saintds Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 (edited) Don't understand. Sky Sports app on my iPhone said Papa scored a pen in the 85th min to make it 2-1. Get in and turn the radio on and we've lost 2-1. WTF?! Can the mods set up a separate thread for the "AP Out" crew? Really can't be arsed to listen to them today. Edited 6 March, 2010 by saintds

I hate how people just blame the ref for any bit of misfortune. At the end of the day the referee's are human and will make mistakes, that is life and football unfortunately.
brightspark Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 What makes you think we'll do any better on these pitches against crap sides next season? Its a valid point and we are going to have to get used to it. Today is not good enough and hopefully we will react the right way and learn from it. In a way, we could need these things to happen to us, so that we successfully learn and change our ways for next season. However, this does not help the potentially harmful pressure that will be heaped on Pardew and the team when they next play away from home.
Saint_lambden Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 How r e t a r d e d must the guy on the score centre have been to get confused which team had the penalty?! poor result
Mark`` Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Rearrange these words into a meaningful sentence  lol, There best player was the ref, lets be fully serious.
the wedge Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 How can you score 10 goals in two games then lose 2-1 in the next. Bloody pitch.
Katalinic Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 I hate how people just blame the ref for any bit of misfortune. At the end of the day the referee's are human and will make mistakes, that is life and football unfortunately. I agree. We should be good enough to beat teams like Tranmere irrespective of any dodgy decisions. You can't rely on the performance of referees, it is our player's performances we should be looking at.
.comsaint Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Pards on Radio Solent: "Very disappointed" "Couldn't find the quality" "Ref had lost it. Spoke to him at HT as I wasn't happy with him" "Quality wasn't as good as the last 2 games" "We created enough chances to win" "We switched off for their goal" "1 or 2 were below thier best" "We gave a good account of ousselves - ref didn't help" "No problem with our fitness" "Disappointed tonight. It was a game we expected to win & wanted to win" "We have to bounce back against the best team in the league" "Harding taken off for 3 or 4 reasons that I want to keep to myself"
Stepgar Posted 6 March, 2010 Author Posted 6 March, 2010 Harding taken off for a few reasons, which Pardew wants to keep to himself!!!
sfc6mufc3 Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 I found all our defeats hard to swallow but this one puzzles me - we must have played so bad - maybe over confident following our last two games, who knows but roll on next season because our league campaign for this season is OVER.
Seaford Saint Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Thought you were going for a walk? Worse I might even go to the gym....balls I AM going to the gym
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 IMO worst result of the season. This was a game we should have won with the side we have now got,This is a really really poor result and very disappointing particularly as Swindon and Huddersfield slipped up today. Why can't we beat these bottom sides? If we are going to win this league next season our away form will have to be a lot better. This is what worries me for the people who say we will walk this league next year.If we can't beat these sides now why will we next season and next season we are likely to be the biggest scalp in this league with every team raising their game against us. Very frustrating day

brightspark Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 "Harding taken off for 3 or 4 reasons that I want to keep to myself" Hmmmmm... 1) Injury? 2) Argument? 3) Was he booked? 4) Betting scandal? odd to have so many reasons over a sub. and odd to bring it up - was he asked that particular question?
Genk Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Poor result. Didn't take our chances so got punished. Personally, I gave up on the playoffs after Exeter away. Since then it has been about the team playing well ready for next season. Hopefully going to places like Wycombe away, Tranmere away etc will teach us lessons so that next season we can go there and win. We may have scored 5 goals in our last two games, but you can't expect it to happen week in week out. Players have off days and unfortunately one or two had that today with other not stepping up to compensate.

brightspark Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Bloody pitch. It wasn't that bad today. Perhaps it was the smell of the air.
Micky Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 lol, There best player was the ref, lets be fully serious. Were you there...
Under Weststand Posted 6 March, 2010 Posted 6 March, 2010 Same old Saints 2 great wins followed by a sloppy performance. And that is what is killing us at the moment, the inconsistency of the team. That is AP challenge for the rest of the season, 2 good home wins this week will make all the difference, but we have to get the away performance sorted out at these types of places ready for next season.
