Tranmere Build-up

We had better win.

I ****ing hate the Liverpool area and wasting a day of my life there for anything less than a win would be depressing.

Reckon we will beat them but it won't be quite so convincing as the last two. A Lambert free kick and a Jaidi header after going a goal behind.

Mate, you need to get INTO Liverpool.

Go and have a look around Liverpool One, big ferris wheel and some tasty bars, clubs, cracking thai restaurant.

I can't wait to get up there for Aintree!!

Being as the players know that they have to win to have any chance of playoffs then I'll go for 3-0 or 3-1 to us.

Each game from now on in is a cup final and we've got the bit between our teeth.

I hope we smash them.

Really hope we trounce them. I only live just down the road and one of my best mates is an avid rovers fan, would love to have bragging rights in the pub after. Apparently the pub right next to the ground is good and will let away fans in. That's where I'm meeting my mate anyway, not sure I trust him enough to where colours though, is a bit rough round there.

I was at the home match (and if my memory serves me right) we struggled to break then down to start with but ended up winning quite comfortably. We have improved since that meeting (although so have they a little). I still reckon we will tonk them though 3-0 again I reckon.

If we play like we did 1st half in the home match we could slip up. Came out and battered them second half though, a win ANY win will be fantastic. COYR!!

Ashtead saint?? my hometown! i knew there were a few of us kicking about (alisons bakery), great stuff!

As for the game, same team, same bench, a classy (not scrappy) 2-0 to the saints. Don't think the pitch at tranmere will be as bad as exeter or wycombe, so its not a decent enough excuse imo. COYR

I'd like to think you're right - but if we are 3-up at half-time don't ease up Saints, I've never really got over THAT night a few years back.

Lest we forget.

Can I just say I lived in Ashtead (off Barnett Wood Lane) but moved when I got married (Probably before you two were born)

Staying with the parents in Wrexham this weekend and we've got a bit of a family outing to the match tomorrow (5 of us going). Haven't seen the Saints since drawing with Norwich at home. Hopefully tomorrow's match will be just as entertaining but with a better result.

Ever the optimist I'm going to predict a 4-0 win with Lambert scoring a hat trick.

Just had a look on the Tranmere forum and they are fearing the worst they are keeping there fingers crossed we wont be able to play our passing game on there pitch.

I hope there fears are well founded and we get the win it will give us a great platform for the Leeds game (will the Leeds game sell out ?)

I would take any win but I think 2 0 to the mighty Saints Lambo brace the Tranmere fans say on there forum he always score against them COYS

It's Friday - I was bored - so I listened to Les Parry's press conference on the Tranmere Player - at the end he bemoaned the fact that they are a short side in terms of height - perhaps this is key to tomorrows game with our height advantage playing a pivotal role. Hope so.

last time I went there in 2001 (facup replay) it was 3-0 to us - at half time. but I seem to have forgotten what the final score was!!!

Any one else there - it was a f**ing wet night

I was in thereapy for a year after that, you sorta knew it was going to happen too, we came out all relaxed and looking for a cruise, they came out looking like they'd had the bollicking of their lives and the rest as they say.... is history.

I went to bed in Los Gigantes with the news ringing in my ears from my mum that we were 3-0 up with about fifteen minutes to go according to Ceefax...

The following morning, off I trotted happy as Larry to pick up a fresh baguette, milk and a copy of the Daily Mail (the only English paper available - I wouldn't read that shyte through choice) and there it was in black and white... I couldn't believe it.

In fact I still can't.

Not only that, I expect them to have a couple of key players sidelined. Pretty sure we should get this one, but was very impressed with their full backs at St Mary's. For me, we can squeeze the life out of them and take home a 1-0, that would be just as impressive in my book.

Just planning the trip now. Liverpool and Manx-based Saints fans will be in attendance.

I have a lot of respect for the Tranmere fans. They could just have easily supported Liverpool or Everton. Indeed, most of the 'plassies' I've met do just that.

Takes a special kind of "over-the-water" maniac to say, "y'know what? B*ll*cks to Liverpool and Everton. I'm supporting Tranmere instead"

3-1 to Saints, by the way.

We (football fans) are wonderful because we can attribute so much meaning to every game.

"...Today is a cup final... If we lose today the season is over... Potential banana skin... This will be a test of our ability to break down a defensive side... Muddy pitch..."

Keep it up! Feeling something is a stake makes every game much more interesting! :)

Agree with above sentiments. In fact the silver linig on the cloud of playing in Div 3 is that you get to come across a lot more 'real' fans with real football knowledge and hence a good conversation.

One thing I have never been able to stand is 'plassie' BTW where are all the Blackburn supporters from 12 years ago ?
