I'm a bit bored and couldn't see one of these yet. This is a really important game to show how far we've come. Smashing teams at home all next season is all well and good, but irrelevant if we cant get to grips with tough surfaces away from home.

If we win here, bearing in mind our next two games are Leeds and Swindon at home where I fancy us against anyone, then by a week on tuesday things could be looking very rosy indeed.

I reckon we'll do em 4-2. Lambert (2), Lallana and Fonte

What's their pitch like?

it's not as bad as Wycombe, and probably equal with the likes of Hartlepool/Oldham etc - where we have gone this season and won.

It's not a mud pit anyway!

As long as there's no Rugby and we play our first XI we'll do just great.

80 mins gone and still 0 - 0 - Pards decideds to shake things up a bit. Wayne Thomas off the bench and makes little impact until the 93 min. A shot rebounds off Kelvin Davis, Wayne picks up in our 6 yard box, dribbles past the 10 outfield Tranmere players (2 of them twice) and takes a 47 yard shot recorded by Sky Sports as having travelled at 133 miles per hour (prompted by the chorus of "Shoot, Shoot" from the cowshed end of Prenton Park) that hits the crossbar, rebounds out, hits of the back off tranmere goalkeepers head and then goes off the outside of the upright and out for a corner....ref gives goal kick contrary to the flag of his linesman and blows up. 0 - 0 final score -

Pards post match press conference.... ".......we should have won but for the pitch....."

1-0 will do just fine. Goal off Rickies left testicle will do just fine. We just need to win.

I agree with one nil, but it'll be Papa's knob that gets the goal. (Even more impressive seeing as he'll be on the bench at the time.)

It'll no doubt be a shyte pitch, but any win will be acceptable, we need to start winning ugly.

1-0 is my prediction too.

For all the years of supporting Southampton this is the exact type of game we always slip up in. For any other team I would say easy 3 points with the form we are in, but its saints isn't it.

1-1, but please prove me wrong, and show me we've changed

We had better win.

I ****ing hate the Liverpool area and wasting a day of my life there for anything less than a win would be depressing.

Reckon we will beat them but it won't be quite so convincing as the last two. A Lambert free kick and a Jaidi header after going a goal behind.

1-0 would do, but 5-0 would be better, can't remember the last time we scored 5, must be so long ago

A third 5 goal win in a row, and I may actually re-whitewash the walls of my home...

We won't concede :D

Tranmere 0 - 3 Southampton

last time I went there in 2001 (facup replay) it was 3-0 to us - at half time. but I seem to have forgotten what the final score was!!!

Any one else there - it was a f**ing wet night

How many are going up? I understand that you can buy tickets on the day. Is that right cos I'm coming over from the IoM for this one?

Can't imagine we'd sell out.

Staffordshire/Shropshire Saints will be in attendance

Weather forecast is good as well!

Interesting article worth a read:

http://betting.betfair.com/football/english-football-league/league-one-betting-preview-saints-marching-into-the-champi-040310.html

Including "This Tuesday something big happened. It wasn't on my usual five mile run around north London, as I glided past 'Minty' from Eastenders....yes it was him!!! No, something even bigger than than that occurred - Southampton absolutely smashed Huddersfield at St Mary's. A 5-0 drubbing of the Terriers was just about the performance from any team this season - and Alan Pardew's men are now 7.40 in the promotion market. I think that's a wager worth having. "

AAAAggghhh why do we always need the build up thread so early? Soon we're going to be building up three fixtures in advance.

erm its two days away? Dont post if it offends you so much!

I have only just recovered from the 4-3 FA Cup tie under Hoddle so it would be lovely to give them a good thumping. Although i can't see it 3 times in row. I'd take a scrappy 1-0 win. If we can get our noses in front early then we should be difficult to come back at. I don't know why but my head is telling me we'll struggle in this one for some reason. Hate to say it, but if i was predicting anything it would be another 0-0 draw. Fingers crossed i'm wrong!

I was at the home match (and if my memory serves me right) we struggled to break then down to start with but ended up winning quite comfortably. We have improved since that meeting (although so have they a little). I still reckon we will tonk them though 3-0 again I reckon.

Took the words from my mouth! It matters not how we play, as long as we win.

so in other words, you had rickies left testicle on the tip of your tongue? :D

The way we're playing right now, the pitch will be our biggest opponent. Still, suppose we've got to get to grips with "quagmires" at some point, so 13-1 Saints.

Although 1-0 will do me just fine!

Normally I expect us to slip up in these games but the team have given me confidence & 0-3 to Saints keeps coming into my head.

Worth a squirt.

Southampton 3-0 @ 16/1

Lee Barnard to score first and Southampton 3-0 @ 55/1

Jason Puncheon to score first and Southampton 4-1 @ 195/1 (had to do it with those odds!)

Tranmere away - if we're 3-0 up at half time please no one say 'nothing can go wrong now'. I would take a scrappy 1-0 win - just keep the wins coming boys and you just never know.....And I have red sauce in a sausage sandwich.

Im going to this! :D Im pretty excited, you can see why given my status as a student and my current location! Season ticket holder til' this season so getting to games this season has been tough. Away games are more fun anyway!

COYR, 3-0 I reckon. See you there.

Think this will be a tough one for us but can see us sneaking it with a wonder goal from 30 yeards out from Morgan Schneiderlin Football Genuis.

This can't be, as we won't be there. The nipper has promised to wear a t-shirt that says, "I was there when Morgan scored."

Picked our tickets up today, the guy on the counter said we had sold about half our tickets.

Going in the car ---- Stafford Services on the M6 for "Fat Blokes All Day Breakfast"

Pass the red sauce !!

Don't forget to take some extra money to pay some scally's to "mind your car for you" during the match. :p

It will be interesting to see how big the crowd is, seeing as Liverpool don't have a game this weekend and Everton are playing on Sunday. Will the scousers take the opportunity to see a classy team for a change :D

The Sausage Sandwich Game, pure radio genius !!:)

1-4, a poor first half, maybe go in behind, then a flood of goals in the second half including Morgans first goal for the club.
