The9 Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 UXB. It's on the Echo site already, with two comments from people saying "send it to Fratton" and "exploded at Fratton, £1m worth of improvements". I L'dol.

Pugwash Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 The bomb's in the proposed Tescos site next to Prince's Indian restaurant. a couple of feet of it is exposed. We've been told to stay in the building, but may be evacuated at 4pm (Carlton Crescent).
Golden Balls Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 How does something like that go unnoticed for so long? And why do you never hear of them randomly exploding?
Michelle Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 My gang got evacuated at about half 10ish this morning, after being stood down in the park forever they were told potentially no access for the rest of the day and to go home -and they didn't take anything out of work with them! And yes, it is going to become Tesco Express - rumour had been doing the rounds for weeks, however I had it confirmed a few weeks ago, as my brother has already been offered it to run. Why can't anything interesting ever happen when I'm actually AT work!?
SO16_Saint Posted 4 March, 2010 Author Share Posted 4 March, 2010 Spoke with a police man who let us back in to get keys etc etc and he said that its a 4ft long bobm and it is the type that gets more volatile the longer it's left. the local bomb people looked at it and said 'feck that' and called in the national guys from Chatham
Rory Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 Definitely not as exciting as when they found the ammunition dump on Regents Park Road a few years back.
Arizona Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 How does something like that go unnoticed for so long? And why do you never hear of them randomly exploding? Belgian farmers get killed driving their tractors over WWI land mines every now and then.

Joneth Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 Typically my office is the first building outside the exclusion zone so I had to stay at work. Boo!
St Landrew Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 Please tell me that's not what's going in that space... If nobody uses it. it'll close. I remember being told a story of a MacDonald's opening in a fairly well off Italian town. It closed after 3 months, due to a lack of customers. Everybody wanted to eat home cooking, or go elsewhere and eat proper food, rather than the sh!te MacDonald's served up. What one town can do to MacDonald, a city can do to Tesco. However, I won't be holding my breath on that one.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 There's already a Tesco Express at the Bargate and a LIDL and late night Co-op a few yards further down.

Our village did not want a Tesco's opening up about 12years ago.Protests, letters to the local paper etc.You would not think so now judging by its car park always brimming and the fact it increased in size by nearly 25% within 9 months. RedAndWhite91 Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 I find it funny how, in Netley, there are 2 co-ops within a stone's throw from eachother. It's getting ridiculous, all these stores opening up everywhere.
Pugwash Posted 4 March, 2010 Share Posted 4 March, 2010 London Road still closed off, traffic now being allowed out of Carlton Crescent, but not in - unless you know the back way in ;-)
