Crab Lungs Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Does anyone know why, generally, do Scottish football games that kick off on Saturday, 3pm (like their English counterparts) finish earlier? Always wondered why the majority of their games finish before we finish ours??? I don't think its a shorter HT....:S If anyone knows why, please put me out of my misery - been wondering for ages! bungle Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Scotland still has a 10 minute half time break, I believe. Or the Scottish football league does, at least.
Hatch Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Scotland still has a 10 minute half time break, I believe. This, because they only have about 2 hours day light , even during the summer.
RonManager Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 The standard is so poor, they try and get the game over and done with asap.
Pancake Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 I was under the impression that the 2nd half up there always kicks off at 4; but I do bow to the superior knowledge of bungle on this one.
chrisobee Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Referees tend not to play on until certain teams score an equaliser unlike in the PL where Rule 9878 ( Sub section 4-B) states " The Referee shall not blow the final whistlle until Arsenal have had a minimum of 8 minutes of added time to score an equaliser. OttawaSaint Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Bungle is correct, only 10 mins for a scotch pie and a bovril and then back out there seeing who can kick the ball the highest. I should know, I had a season ticket at Aberdeen many moons ago...
RonManager Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 Whilst living in Edinburgh back along, I once spilt Bovril on erstwhile tv commentator Archie McPherson's nice beige coat at Hibs when they were playing Rangers. He was not amused and called me a Hibee c*nt. I replied - 'up the Saints', which was probably lost on him as there are other 'Saints' in jolly Jockoland. Hibees around me were elevating me to hero status as he was a well-known 'unbiased -cough' Rangers man!

SNSUN Posted 1 March, 2010 Share Posted 1 March, 2010 They don't have any fans, ergo no delays for people getting into the stadium. No TV cameras either, so they don't make the rules. In fact, no one can even prove that Scottish football even exists. Certainly judging by Neil McCann's silky skills... In seriousness, I'd often wondered this. Ten minute half time. Answers a lot. It's not long enough though, even the good old 15 minutes sometimes seems too shortt...
