dont be daft...the squad had few new players ffs..

Ah yes, Harding 3 weeks, Murty less than 2 weeks after a trial and Lambert 5 days into the club, barely time to gel as part of the team, still would you prefer the squad that played on that day ie: Davis, thomas, perry, james, Wootton, Schneiderlain, Lallana and rasiak plus above as opposed to the one we have now?

3 new players in the matchday 16..

yes, all strangers...despite on of those players training with us for a while before that game

but yes...3 new players out of 16= strangers..

there are plenty of good reasons why we lost that day that no one will dispute, why make stuff up...?

if we don't win... league season = over, they will be even more uncatchable than they are now!

The season is already over, barring the JPT Final, in terms of which league we'll be in next season. Just forget the play-offs, enjoy the final, and enjoy each game as it comes. These last few games of the season are all about practise for next season. Let the first team play together as much as possible so they become nearly telepathic for next season, and FFS don't sell any of them in the summer!

Massively looking forward to the Huddersfield game. After the disappointment of the Pompey game, I've been itching to get back to St Mary's, and now even more so after Saturday's win.

This'll be a tough'un, it won't be as nearly as open as the Walsall game, Huddersfield are, by all intense and purpose, better than Walsall, and we much expect a tough game. Perform solid defensively, and we've always got that quality to nick a goal.

This'll be the sort of game where the big players stand up and get counted - and I think there'll be a Lambert goal.

I'm going for a tight game, 2-1.

more than 3 surely because there was Mellis as well plus Jake Thomson who'd not really played much football for us before (and hasn't since) Never did understand exactly why AP chucked them on and took off 2 lads who'd played together before.Leaving us with a midfield of Wotton,Thomson,Mellis and Lallana to play in front of an absolutely catastrophic defensive pairing of Thomas and Perry (and to add insult to injury putting Lancashire on late on as well). We fielded a completely f*ckwit team to start with and made it worse as we went on.Why? because Mr Pardew doesn't get on with Simon Gillett.

Real 6 pointer this one, if we win then it takes us a step closer to the play-offs, if we lose then our play-off hopes are basically completely finito. Even if we are sh*t hot at the moment, we cannot under-estimate how motivated Huddersfield will be. Their team is pretty damn good as well, full of good young players. I think it'll be a 2-2 draw.

New manager doesn't get on with player shocker. One man doesn't make a team and certain not Gillett.

You know what, one of the surprising things I've noticed this season when seeing some of the so called better sides (i.e. any of the top 10) is actually how poor they actually look. For example, I thought Brighton looked a far better side than MK Dons and yet they're not that good really. Apart from the goal, Walsall looked pretty poor too. Or is it that we have been making these teams look poor? Norwich did not look that special for a top of the table side. I reckon we might be shocked to see how poor Huddersfield actually are on Tuesday - whether Saints want to capitalise on that remains to be seen. We need to come out and give them no space to play their game - just like we did for Walsall and Norwich - and we will win comfortably again.

For Information.

For the regular listeners on Saints Player just had a response to my complaint email from Saturday from a Paul Ellemore. I think everyone on the match thread sent one in! Fingers crossed we may not miss the goals tomorrow night

Well i think if we lose we can forget playoffs but should we win then i think were do it, as a fan i still belive we can do it but being realstic i think we dont have a chance unless we beat HTFC and win are 2 games in hand.

Heart says 3-1 Saints but head says 2-2 draw

This is one of our games in hand is it not? As this is the re-arranged fixture from January

It is not one of the games in hand on Huddersfield, as after Tuesday Huddersfield will still have played 2 more games than Saints. ;)

It's not just a must-win game. If we want any chance of reaching the playoffs, it has to come at the expense of 6th place Huddersfield, and we kind of need them to implode.

On the plus side, we're playing them next and they have some tough opposition ahead of them. However, there are an awful lot of teams better placed to capitalise on a Huddersfield implosion than us.

I'm hoping for a comprehensive victory for Saints, and a demoralising failure for Huddersfield.

huddersfield are travelling down today. They are staying here until Sat when they play Gillingham. They have been granted permission to train at Portsmouth's or should I say Southampton University training ground. They then will be training at Eastleigh training facilities. If you read the interview it seems he doesnt realise that Portsmouth training ground is also in Eastleigh:)

Being as Huddersfield are still in the thick of the playoffs they will be well pleased to get out of SMS with a point so I predict that the team bus will be parked infront of their goal.

Although our playoff hopes are all but extinguished this season we must use this season's fixtures to develop a killer mentality for next season.

3-1 to us.

Wew are due two back to back performances and this could be it. 4-0 and then we really can a send a message to the rest of this League. Glad we are playing one of the top 6 as there will no complacency and if we play to 75% of our potential we are better than all the teams in this league bar none.

Be positive people.

IF we win we would be 14points adrift of Huddersfield with 2 games in hand over them. IF we won both those games in hand we would be 8 points behind with 13 games left.

I know there are two big if's in there, but we must believe, it is possible, just gotta start with winning tomorrow.

This.

We keep letting ourselves down against the sides we are trying to catch up on.. tommorow is massive really, and although i dont think we will get the playoffs, its not impossible if we beat them tommorow and win our games in hand.

tough game this. They took us to peices at their place and it could easily have been 4 or 5. We didn't threaten at all up front either so they must have a half decent back four. They have a top class keeper, pace out wide and strikers that find the net.

Huddersfield come to SMS with an identical Away record as Walsall W6 D3 L7, but unfortunately for us they seem to have cured their away day illness from earlier on in the season, 4 of those wins have come in their last 5 away games :(, but their home form has suffered with quite a few draws.

They demolished us at their place in August, could easily have been 7 or 8 -1 to them. I'm staying up till 0200 to listen to the match so I'm hoping for revenge for that day out!! They are one of the few teams with a better GD than us, so a nice 4-1 revenge win would put a nice healthy dent in that ;)

they don't play like that tbh, they let in as many as they score (they have recentley anyway) - so it promises to be a pretty exciting and open game.

can't wait!

We should destroy them. Play like we did in the last two games (I've had Wycombe lobotomised from my brain) and we will. I'm going to go nuts and predict a 2-1 win. W00T!!!!!

Well add Pompey and MK Dons to your list and make the last four games

The game at there place was a shocker they could have scored five or six if it wasn't for Kelvin. Was a real throwback to the season before. It's basically a whole new team from that day I hope we can get some revenge.

Massive game and we will win it.

Of course they have a very good defender by the name of Trotman on loan from Preston will be interesting to see how he copes with Lambert;)

I think this will be tough, Huddersfield are miles better than Walsall no 5-1 for this match I think. Depends which players turn up for us the team from Saturday or the team from last Tuesday. As we're at home I'll go 2-1 to us but my head tells me it will be a draw.

Forget the play off's, just enjoy the games as the damage is too great and we have prioritised too late. This will just add too much pressure on Pardew and we really need him to settle down if he wants to be here next season. If you extend Huddersfields average points so far, we can only afford to drop 5 points and that's without Huddersfield upping their game. Huddersfield are exactly the type of team that will give Saints trouble because of their midfield. I expect us to beat Huddersfield but will give no guarantees about Tranmere.

The main problem we have is nearly 2 games a week until the end, with Lallana and Schneiderlin just not up to those demands. Even Hammond has been known to suffer and when those energy levels drop off, so will our results. Pardew has found a solution to our midfield problem, it's just being able to sustain that tempo with players who have shown issues with stamina previously. If you are going to have a bet, do the lottery. Your chances are about the same but the rewards will be a lot different.

Why forget them?

Yes we are far behind ATM but if we win tomorrow and the 2 games in hand like mentioned above we won't be too far behind Huddersfield.

If we carry on the top 2 form then the play-offs are still possible.

We may as well still have something to aim for this season, the play-offs are a possibility so we should go for it. I know we have progressed a lot and mid-table would be okay seeing as we have recovered from rock bottom in June but at least if we try for them we can say if we finish 7th-10th that we gave it a good go.

You're almost certainly right. I really do appreciate how far we've come and I wouldn't be disappointed with a good end to the season without making the playoffs. I'll have a bit of faith until it's mathematically certain though :)

You forgot the 3rd IF, that Millwall are on the same points as Huddersfield. So even if we beat Huddersfield and win the 2 games in hand we could still be 11 behind Millwall.

Admire everyone's optimism, but the play-offs were a dream before we drew with Exeter. That result coupled with the other results that day ended any realistic possibility of getting to 6th. We will do very well to finish 8th from where we are now. Very well indeed.

By all means come back and say told you so at end of season, but reality is no play-offs this season.

Yeah?

Well I got a reply from David Luker :p

....

and then two more from Sam Pordage, who says Perform "are currently scrutinizing this aspect of the service and will make sure that the Southampton commentary is closely monitored during the next match programme."

Monitored eh?

Hmmmmm.

Don't hold your breath...
