St.Jeweller Posted 26 February, 2010 Posted 26 February, 2010 Bring back referees big white collars!!!
the mick channon windmill Posted 26 February, 2010 Posted 26 February, 2010 Did it show the whole match? my vague childhood memories of this match were Lawrenson and Hansen fouling Danny Wallace evey time he got the ball or attempted to go on a run. Not dirty fouls but being held back or nudged off the ball slightly, they were all over him that day. I remember going to that game being absolutely convinced we would lose and the writing was really on the wall when Mark Wright broke his leg. I think we had one real chance to win it right at the end before extra time when Andy Townsend went on a long run of the pitch but shot off target. Mind you I also remember being convinced we would beat Everton in the semi final 2 years earlier, when we had the best saints team I ever saw. It still hurts to think about that day at Highbury over 25 years ago.
Gaz@Maybush Posted 26 February, 2010 Posted 26 February, 2010 Remember it going upside down all the way up (and back) Seven Sisters Road that day.
the mick channon windmill Posted 26 February, 2010 Posted 26 February, 2010 Remember it going upside down all the way up (and back) Seven Sisters Road that day. It certainly did but then again that was the way football was back then, especially at big important games like this one
Rogerfryisalegend Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 I was right behind the goal when his leg broke, made a horrible sound, I was only a nipper, went right through me. A lot of coaches had no windows after the game, about all i can remember.
modern matron Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Remembergeting in late , needing a crap and missing KO! Also saw MR break his legg! Memories............
Lowestoft-Saint Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Remember it going upside down all the way up (and back) Seven Sisters Road that day. I must admit that walk down the seven sisters road was always a long boring walk but that day it was rather eventful to say the least, and those bloody horses seemed to be everywhere.
Toadhall Saint Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Remember it going upside down all the way up (and back) Seven Sisters Road that day. T'was fun. The tube journey was erm..... eventful!
SnailOB Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 as a relative young un' at the time, i remember my mate and I making a few quid collecting all the coins on the floor that were being thrown at us from the scousers up above. Certainly topped up my pocket money that week
pilsburydoughboy Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Thetube was fun i can remember walking down the stairs to be met by some bloke swinging a chain. He was ****ing off his head.
andybeal Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Remember the shower of urine flowing from the floor above where the scousers were as we were trying to get out - hoods up job!
The Majestic Channon Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Liverpool street station was mayhem
Miffy Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Was too ******ed to remember much that day. Did we nearly score at the end of normal time (Mark Dennis)? Did the game go into extra time? Or am I dreaming?
chrisobee Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Has Wright broken his leg yet? About 24 years ago TBH ! That game sticks in the memory precisely because of Wright breaking his leg and after that Rush scored 2 goals, jammy Scousers
chrisobee Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Was too ******ed to remember much that day. Did we nearly score at the end of normal time (Mark Dennis)? Can't remember Did the game go into extra time? Or am I dreaming? Did we nearly score at the end of normal time (Mark Dennis)? Can't remember Did the game go into extra time? Yes Or am I dreaming? Could be
OldNick Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Danny Wallace had Hanson fouling him all the time, the ref let him get away with it. Only a weak backpass by Bond let Rush in to score and then it was game over. We were only likely to nick a win but while it was 0-0 there was always a chance
Stanley Saint Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 I was there too. Didn't George Lawrence have a great chance too?
Nutwood2 Posted 27 February, 2010 Posted 27 February, 2010 Got some tickets from a club official at the Dell in the morning, drove up and found ourselves in the players' wives box, sitting next to Mark Wright's Mum. When Wrighty broke his leg she went down at half time to see him, came back up and asked if anyone knew where the hospital was. Spurs didn't even offer to take her there!
