If any, I guess quite a lot would gladly take Bridger, Theo, Gareth and Kenwyn...but what about others like Aaron Davies, Surman, Cranie, Dyer, M. Mills, Blackstock, Leon Best and others??

From reading the title I was going to say the scarf I purchased that said league 1 champions 2009-2010

Would take Surman back no problem

I can see that, figure he probably needed to go rather than wanted to go??

Would never want Kenwyne Jones back! Remember when Sunderland wanted to sign him and he refused to play for us in our home game against Stoke as he wanted to leave? Would never want a player like him back who refused to play as he wanted to leave us

Spoke to Andrew in Orange a couple of weeks back, was back to see Saints v Pompey. Seems to be alright, a bit disappointed with how it's going at Wolves and his injuries. Genuinely nice lad though.

They probably would lose a fair few games in this league.

Well ok, add one or two midfielders in there, but it's still a good looking team, although we were always destined to lose Walcott and Bale. It was Catch 22, had we stayed in the Premiership, most of these players wouldn't have had a look in, relegation simply meant that most of those players we picked up by (so-called) bigger teams. One way or another it seems that we would have lost them.

Of the latter you mention - Surman only. Others still playing? Beattie, Baird, Higgy perhaps, Kevin Davies, Matt Oakley. Defo not Jones - unprofessional turd by refusing to play for us under contract.

McGoldrick are you having a laugh? 3 goals in 23 matches...... really want him back

True about losing them, but it was mostly to do with raising funds rather than any professional assessment of the capability of the squad and what we needed. BTW Poke is probably no better than a L2 keeper and not worthy of wiping even Barts boots in terms of getting the club out of L1.

I was running out of Saints players in my brain database!

Stick Oaks in there or something. ;-D

Oh I agree, but I was thinking of our own products. Bart was bought in from Gornik Zabrze.

Good group tbf, I was kinda thinking more of Saints 'developed' players tho'...rather than Beatts-Higgy-Fatty etc. Not sure where Jones came from, but it seemed we developed him??

No team featuring DMG would be a hell of a team.

Most lightweight midfield ever too. Good defence though.

I'd like Cranie or Mills back, maybe Baird. Reasonable choices once we're a league higher. Maybe Blackstock, but not the other 2 forwards.

Walcott will come back in about 10 years! Never rated Surman.

Always had a problem with Cranie, even prior to Benedict Arnold switch. He was always to slow to play full back and not big or strong enough to play centre back. It was like he was a very youth that never grew up.

Oh yes - sorry about that - got carried away! #-o

Jones was developed by us - I seem to remember seeing him play with the youth team.

I would take back my Rupert Lowe "Action Man" doll (complete with Rambo-style headband and "RL" tracksuit). The novelty`s worn off now.:(

I have you tried voodoo?

Watched Mills a couple of times when Reading were on the tellybox, namely against Liverpool. I really rate the lad, and think he would have a decent future.

Shame we had to sell him as he would've fit right into our defence both last year and this.

Other than that, Surman, Bale, hell we have had quite a few decent exports, lets get the academy machine working again shall we NC ??

Anyone that could make a difference to our midfield of eunuchs.

.

I know for a fact that Hammond, Schneiderlin and Wotton could all have you.

Who's the daddy?

Benedict Arnold eh? Wonder how many will get that reference.

If classed as one of our products - then Kevin Davies all day long. We need someone who can worry defences and has a great work rate. Very strong player.

As for todays team - we miss someone who can take set pieces etc.. so would also like to see Bale.

I'm just going to post up Redknapp's "youth" team that got knocked out of the League Cup by Mansfield for the sake of argument (again), just so we can have another look at where they are in comparison to Saints now :

Southampton: Smith ,Cranie ,Kenton ,Mills ,Baird ,McCann ,Delap ,Folly (Walcott ,72 ) ,Dyer ,Jones ,Blackstock (McGoldrick ,81)

Subs not used McNeil,Tejera,Gillett,

That's

4 Prem : Baird (Fulham), Delap (Stoke), Walcott (Arsenal), Jones (Sunderland)

6 CCC : Smith (Forest sub gk), Cranie (Coventry), Mills (Reading), Dyer (Swansea), Blackstock, McGoldrick (both Forest)

2 Lge 2 : Kenton (Cheltenham), Folly (loan from Plymouth)

1 SPL/retired : McCann (Falkirk 2009, may have retired as hasn't played this season)

Is that better than the current team ?

The CCC league team for the next match showed 11 changes, just for the record :

Niemi ,Hajto (Jones ,68 ) ,Lundekvam ,Darren Powell ,Higginbotham ,Oakley (Cranie ,86 ) ,Wise ,Quashie ,Kosowski ,Ormerod (Walcott ,68 ) ,Fuller

Subs not used: Smith,Delap
