Draw at Norwich and Win at Wycombe = good 4 points

it's all about perspective, which certain people can't grasp.

you're right, it isn't a bad set of results in all honesty

still unbeaten in 2010.

if we beat wallsall and hudersfield we'll be on our way again.

not really hard to work out why its a 'bad' 4 points - should really have beaten Wycombe tonight.

Aye. The huge difference in level of performance and application from the first game to the second...

Consecutive away clean sheets and 4 points from 6 are clearly, on the face of it, good.

But, the performance tonight did sound poor so it's probably only the fact that we were playing someone rubbish which helped that.

You have no idea about the application, not from a forum...

you just love the negativity....

I was angry at first but the OP is probably right.

Im trying to cast my mind back to the start of the season when if someone offered me survival I would have bitten their hand off.

after the high of saturday a win was expected, but even so 4 points from 2 away games is a reasonable return. Between now and the JPT final we have 5 home games, 4 against teams above us and two very winnable away games against a poor tranmere and an MK Dons side we have well beaten three times this season. By the end of march the table could have a very different look about it. Its a long shot, but a draw away at Wycombe changes nothing.

I see bundling unconnected games together is the new "we didn't have any pre season".

We're the richest club in the division and we are aiming for the play offs this season (oh yes we are and oh dear, the p i sswipes can't pretend we're not anymore, as Cortese and Pardew have said it. We are. We are.)

With that in mind, not beating Wycombe away is not good enough. Every club is going to get dodgy results but we've already had a boat load this season and now was the time for our five wins in a row. But not to be.

And the Norwich result was great but was also the first time we'd beaten a top six team all season, so lets not dine out on that too much. It didn't give us a "don't bother with the next game" card. It wasn't worth eight points.

But I am sure Wycombe had a knockout pre-season we could have only dreamed of.

Why are you following alps round the threads posting about him and not the OPs?

Give it a rest. If you don't agree with him or anyway. Move on

Makes me laugh when you, Alpine and Glasgow have the audacity to complain about posters being tedious.

I can see our numbers are growing - fans are not happy.

did you hear the boo's at the final whistle?

excuse our season as much as you like but AP needs to explain himself imo

12 wins in 30 = very very poor

I complain about posters being ridiculous more often than tedious.

There is only one poster on here I consider to be tedious.

I don`t have a problem with DD as for you two ,no point as someone

Seriously, do you have to say virtually the same thing on about 3-4

threads?

Glasgow what actually do you want? Please start an AP out thread if that's what you want, but please stop these " I told you so" comments trying to prove your argument that failure is inevitable. You almost seem, not unhappy, that we failed to win as it proves your "argument". Just be honest you want AP replaced don't you at whatever cost?

Do you think it's good enough?

The most expensive team in the league, way off the play-offs even without the ten points deduction. Bearing in mind the Norwich manager had no pre-season with his team before anyone mentions missed pre-seasons.

Yes there are plenty of mitigating circumstances and i'm NOT calling for AP's head. However i don't think it's good enough.

6 points would have been better. Isn't that the bottom line..?

Totally. but i think people are saying that 4 points isn't a complete disaster, it's bloody disappointing - but it's not a disaster.

still got lots of games coming up we can win (inc. 2 home games)

for what it's worth i don't think we will make the playoffs, but i expect us to finish between 9th-11th.

The fourth, fifth and sixth place sides have 16 wins in 32. Are you seriously trying to say that the line between very, very poor and good is four extra wins after two more games than us? You are, IMO, ... oh, I can't be bothered to fill that in.

Look no team wins every game do they? We beat the league leaders away Saturday then drew away not bad.

The reason we are not going to do it this season is simple for me. Ten point deficit followed by 10 games to get the side right. We haven't lost a league game since Boxing day and played nearly all away games. Is that poor form? No of course it isn't. Judge things at the end of the season. I think we'll finish 7th or 8th, but would have made the playoffs with the 10 points added back.

Next season will be different. I think we will be the Chelsea of the league. Just imagine them finishing oput of the top 6.......not possible. I expect minimum top 2 next season don't you?

I will be happy if at the end of the season we are within 10 points of the play-offs, any thing less I think is a disapointment.

We should stroll the league next season, however, if we're not the usual evangelical posters will be sprouting off about how wonderful AP is and how he should be given a chance.

Docker I agree with that. I did the predictor tonight and even giving us 40 out of 48 points we only just made 6th so that's not going to happen.

This team is potentially extremely good. It shouldn't lose many games next season should it? Here's hoping. If it does AP will be gone....

That's just not true. You have to consider games in hand. When you're talking about one of the top sides in the division it is silly to assume we won't take any points from the games in hand.

Indeed...

38 points

+ 10 from points deduction

+ 9 from games in hand if all won

= 57 points compared to 4th place Charlton's 60 points

or

38 points

+ 10 points from points deduction

+ 6 points from games in hand if all won

= 54 points compared to 6th place Huddersfield's 57 points

Plus Saints still have to play Charlton and Huddersfield at St Mary's.

Twisted logic at it's finest.

If, in 2 nights the first night you got laid, but the second night you got punched, on the second night you would wish you had got laid that night and punched the night before.

This is the problem. AS and GS seem to revel in the negativity and actively look for things to moan about. They are like a couple of old women:

The thing is we are all disappointed with another draw but it's not like we are a million miles away from where we want to be. We are unbeaten this year (in the league) and only one of those was a home game.

I for one am thoroughly enjoying this season.

Bottom line (whichever way you look at it) both Swindon and Huddersfield are a further 2 points ahead of us than they were on Saturday morning and we've got two less games to play, in order to try and catch them up.
