latter day saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 was it a different team from saturday? how can they play that well then a few days later be so crap?
dubai_phil Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 How come us lot had worked out that we don't perform on Krap pitches and yet.... Oh well, for us who study media management techniques it will be interesting to hear AP explain why the feck the players didn't bother to turn up tonight. Perhaps a group fine to pay for the tickets of the poor sods who had to watch that would be a start
Saintandy666 Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Pardrew should resign immediately in my opinion, and the whole team should be replaced before next weeks game.
yorkie Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 No other favours in other games tonight with Millwall and Hudderfield both winning - so now 19-points off the play-offs. Still 48-points to play for...how many do we need now? I think it would be unforgiving to write off our chances now - but looking very remote. Some of you out there will try and get me to believe we can still do it - but I heard all that last year with the Dutch clown talking about avoiding relegation! The conditions and the pitch will be to blame along with a spirited Wycombe performance. B*ll*cks!
opthomps Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Its disappointing, especially with the other results. We need to learn from these type of dreadful games for next season if we expect to go up automatically. Roll on the next game.
Saint Billy Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why do I always expect more from saints and yet they still serve out the same old inconsistent **** that they always have.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Not good enough, a few of us thought this could be a bit of a banana skin for us tonight. We just didn't seem to be at the races, it's a shame after such a great result at the weekend. But it sums up our season....... Pardew Out ?? No i don't think so, it will only compound or problems. Blame Wotton ? If i can
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Play offs 19 points away now and receding! That is still 9 away without the minus 10! That's an interesting statistic. When you look at it like that is tells a very sad story. 10th biggest spenders in the league and even without the 10 point deduction we'd still be 9 points off the play offs. I think Mr. Pardew may have some explaining to do to his superiors.
CanadaSaint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 pretty poor, we've got to learn to win these sort of games if we're going to do anything next season Dead right. Every year there are (tops) two teams like Norwich in this division and about 15 teams like Wycombe. We won't win promotion unless we can beat the Wycombes consistently, and we haven't even come close.
St Landrew Posted 23 February, 2010 Author Posted 23 February, 2010 Need to adapt to crap pitches Our problem is that invariably we probably have the best pitch in the entire Football league and the Premiership. Our pitch is head and shoulders above most pitches in this league. But that shouldn't be an excuse. We have to be better.
tommi Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Bad pitch, my arse. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. No more excuses.
Tractor_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Outplayed, out battled Agreed that we didn't play great but that's a bit OTT !! It was a draw, not a drubbing!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Wotton really made the difference for us. We were miles better after we brought him on. lol
Boris Karloff Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 how is it these teams get away with pitches it's impossible to play on? Why don't they get fined? If they want to take the rugby money that's ok but they should pay for it.
Saint Charlie Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Beat Walsall and 7 points from 3 games including 2 away and 1 against top of the table. Would have taken that before. We used to lose games like tonight!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Outplayed, out battled **** poor How do you come to this conclusion..? Or does it just make you feel better to make things up?
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Leeds Norwich Swindon Huddersfield and Millwall all Win we are not even holding our own with the top 7 they are pulling away!
alpine_saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 That's an interesting statistic. When you look at it like that is tells a very sad story. 10th biggest spenders in the league and even without the 10 point deduction we'd still be 9 points off the play offs. I think Mr. Pardew may have some explaining to do to his superiors. You aint allowed to say that on here...
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 It does make me laugh, i understand that we have a lot of desperate posters that seem to want the team to be sacked after results such as this. But equally as laughable are the RTG groups that seem to poke fun and believe all is happy in the world. Lol
Micky Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Being the ever optimistic happy clappy fan, it could have been worse, could have lost, kept a clean sheet - other than that; underwhelmed by the performance based purely by what I saw on here. As somebody else has said - would actually have been fairly happy with 4 points from the last two games - but having taken the lot at Norwich it feels a bit like a kick in the balls. Oh well - back to the Pompey takeover thread to cheer myself up again.
Liquidshokk Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Dave merringon just summed it up. Lack of passion, commitment and desire. Nuff said.
John B Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why do I always expect more from saints and yet they still serve out the same old inconsistent **** that they always have. In the fifty or so years I have been following SFC the only really consistent thing is their inconsitency
JibMcdo Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Will people stop quoting Glasgow. There's no point in having him on ignore if I can read everything he says via other people's quotes!
Saintandy666 Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Not good enough tonight, I expected more after last week. We seem to have a real problem with these small ****ty grounds. Oh well, we can only march on and next season is ours I think.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Merrington "Lack of passion desire and no fire or will to win" why?
Rory Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 I really cannot stand Saints fans. When the f*ck did we get so unrealistic? The only thing I am disappointed about tonight is not being able to score against the worst defence in the league. Otherwise, why the hell haven't some of you got used to being a Saints fan yet? I had absolutely no hope of us winning tonight. We don't beat winnable teams.
Dr Octopus Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Need to adapt to crap pitches Maybe we should start training at Fratton!!
St Landrew Posted 23 February, 2010 Author Posted 23 February, 2010 Merrington sounds really p!ssed off.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Merrington laying into the team big time.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why is everyone blaming bad pitches ?? We only play our pretty small passing in patches of our game, the majority is a farking long ball to RL !!!!!!! How the hell does a soggy center circle affect a big hoof ?? IMO we have become far to predictable. It is a big hoof to Rickie or play through Lallana, when those angles do not work we are f*cked. Pards, we need to buy some shooting boots for next season.
saintjay77 Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Our problem is that invariably we probably have the best pitch in the entire Football league and the Premiership. Our pitch is head and shoulders above most pitches in this league. But that shouldn't be an excuse. We have to be better. I agree but also agree with the previous point. We make a meal out of playing on dodgy pitches but then Leeds, Charlton and Norwich all have to play on the same pitches at some point or another and they manage to pick up more points than not. Its something that we are going to have to improve on next season if we cant make it out of this league this season.
TopGun Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 All very disappointing. I read a couple of months back that AP says Saints have two ways to play. Maybe he needs to think of a third against negative opposition on poor pitches although tbf you would expect the players to have a bit of nous and mix it up a bit.
S-Clarke Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 oh dear Roll on Saturday. yep +1, got my ticket for Saturday, can't wait!
maysie Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why is everyone blaming bad pitches ?? We only play our pretty small passing in patches of our game, the majority is a farking long ball to RL !!!!!!! How the hell does a soggy center circle affect a big hoof ?? IMO we have become far to predictable. It is a big hoof to Rickie or play through Lallana, when those angles do not work we are f*cked. Pards, we need to buy some shooting boots for next season. So buying two of the leagues top scorers is not that?
Kingsland Red Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Four points in every six, or two points per game will get us into the play offs. Nothing has changed over the last few games. Not sure where the form table is but we must be up amongst it.
Saint_clark Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why is everyone blaming bad pitches ?? We only play our pretty small passing in patches of our game, the majority is a farking long ball to RL !!!!!!! How the hell does a soggy center circle affect a big hoof ?? IMO we have become far to predictable. It is a big hoof to Rickie or play through Lallana, when those angles do not work we are f*cked. Pards, we need to buy some shooting boots for next season. Now i'm sorry, but that comment is just ridiculous. Look at our goal difference.
alpine_saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 We seem to have a real problem with these small ****ty grounds. Bit of a prob what with us being in Division Three..
explorer saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 We seem to raise our game for Norwich but Wycombe raise their game against us. Mentaly we are not strong enough this season, maybe it is Pardew
obelisk Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Why do some think we'll walk this league next season? There'll still be plenty of crap pitches to play on.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 I have been voicing concern over our central midfield for a while now and the lack of cover we have for Schneiderlin and Hammond. Feel that concern is now vindicated lose one of those two players and we lack the bite to tackle some of these teams who play with a game plan to spoil first and win second. Pitch is irrelevant IMO and same for both sides and perhaps we have to many 'light' show pony players who expect a billiard table surface at this level. Seaborne was an unnecessary purchase and we should without a shadow of a doubt bought a Central Midfielder or put Gillett and not Wotton on the bench!
Window Cleaner Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 We missed what 3 open goals tonight? that's why we don't win these games because we have a 1/5 chance conversion rate.
madruss Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Yep, even as a self-confessed 'happy-clappy' I now know I was wrong to have thought the playoffs were still realistic. Ah well, let's just win the league next year shall we.
Thedelldays Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 People are making out that we need to learn to play on poor pitches? Half of the games we have in this league are in crap pitches. Half of the team have been used to this level for a while whilst the other half played in the CCC which also has it share of crap pitches also we have played on enough crap pitches THIS season to have learned by the last week of February
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 So buying two of the leagues top scorers is not that? Apparantly not
Johnny Shearer Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Poor result. Team was there for the beating but sounds like Saints just weren't up for it. As other posters have said. These are sort of fixtures that will need to be wining week in, week out. Big expectations next season.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Will people stop quoting Glasgow. There's no point in having him on ignore if I can read everything he says via other people's quotes! haha - if someone does have you on ignore is it still infractionable to insult them?
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 23 February, 2010 Posted 23 February, 2010 Totally pathetic. If we can't start beating these sided we will not go up automatically next season. Not getting a cm in the January transfer window is costing us dear imho. That position must be addressed in the summer if we are going to go up next year
