Has had some flack for his first few performances for Saints, but he looked pretty good to me today. Had some good overlaps with Puncheon in the first half and has decent pace. I'd hate for people who didn't go today to assume he is always crap.

Cheers for that Arizona, it sounded like he had a good game, seemed to play well & have a good understanding with Puncheon. That's the impression I got from the commentary today anyway.

Is he not on loan to us from Norwich? if so how is he allowed to play against his home team?

The released him and we signed him on a 6 month deal.

Agree - and he hasn't been bad in his other games (just most fans who don't go to games assume he's damaged goods -made worse by the fact that he was released by a club perceived to be smaller than us).

Though he sometimes dozes off and isn't the most vocal of players (I bet AP's "quiet dressingroom" comments are especially directed at Semi) he's comfortable on the ball and gets forward well. Would have loved if Lallana had converted his assist (having run half the pitch). The odd time Norwich broke the funeral parlour atmosphere was to taunt Semi (to the Agbonlahor chant with load of sh*te thrown in), so fair play for staying focussed.

Was his best performance today, I think he is a decent option but most of the clever play on our right hand side was coming from Puncheon creating all sorts of space for Ostemebor, fair play to the lad for getting up and down the line so much, really stretched Norwich.

Whenever I have seen him in the past (for Norwich) I thought that he was a cracking little RB and exactly what we needed !

Not trying to be 'wise after the event' but I am not surprised that he is beginning to get good ratings !

I always liked him but when we signed him I was worried - Pardew clearly wasn't convinced or he would have given him a longer contract - but thankfully he has performed quite well at RB so far.

Semi-Fonte-Seaborne-Harding

As our defence for next season. Looks more than capable of winning the title IMO.

Did Puncheon play on the right all match then? Sorry, bit off-topic!

Yes.

He got through 1 on 1 at one point but didn't shoot. Just kept on and on running until the ball bounced off their goalie. Frustrating. Norwich, by the way, gave a superb display of how NOT to play with 10 men. Soooooooo much space.

At least with Puncheon and Lallana in the wide roles you have the option of swapping them round if things aren't working. I wouldn't fancy Waigo or Antonio on the left.

hats off to otsemobor today, from what i could gather, had a good game! been a biit critical as do appreciate thomas' qualities but hey, well played! long may it continue....

I was quite critical after seeing him at Millwall and Exeter, but to be fair he played alright today. Seemed well up for it against his old team. Point to prove I guess.

I think so, thats what I said before game, Pardew could see he'd be up for it so was willing to give him chance. To be fair, we've got a pretty strong nucleus of players now with QUALITY competion all over the pitch, just hope we havent left it too late to peak.

I thought it was only me that didn't understand the relevance of the article!

Heard it used before, semi-detached, ie. Not all there, not the brightest. Similar to bungalow but showing other assets. Nothing up top, everything down below.

From BBC I Player it seemed to me he was going forward with step overs and assisted Lallana when he hit the post. He also did the same for Puncheon who then did well with a burst of speed to get around a defender to cross for Barnard to score.

As no one else seems to want to answer you, I will.

I thought it referred to the piccy in that article... seems excited about something no?

Sadly couldn't make Carrow on Saturday but my Norwich friends said that's better than he'd played for them all season so all credit to him for beating the abuse. Good surging run for Lallana hitting the post. Hopefully a change of environment is working for him.

I have actually seen him live for both Norwich and Saints about 7 times and go to most of Saints games and had a poor start but did show improvement against Stockport and if he continues to build on Saturday and gains consistency then very happy to eat my past words.

The second goal was set up by a smart backheel by Morgan to give Puncheon the time and space to get behind the defence, perhaps the forward ball came from Semi though.

I thought he had looked good when they played us & was surprised that he was so easy to sign albeit on a 'to end of contract' basis. My Norwich supporting staff were quite dismissive of him & one expressed delight that he'd gone.

That's one sad b*gger this morning then (they're lucky I'm at a show in NEC for the week but phone abuse has been nearly as good!).On saturday I wrote in my brief summary that I thought he was good despite being subjected to abuse from the peasants...linked well with Puncheon, quick to get forward & back...didn't really put a foot wrong. I get the impression he'll enjoy our style of football & it will be good to have a genuine right back in his prime to go forward with. Not knocking Lloydy (going to be good for us in the future in midfield) or Thomas but don't think either would have complemented the side in the way Semi did on Saturday.

Or may be he used a "semi automatic" walter PPK to shoot him in the buttocks :-)

OK OK just getting my hat & coat !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also had a v. good game today - looked sharp and closed things down without being agressive and got forward well. Knowing we had width on the right also allowed Puncheon to cut inside. He needed a fresh start and he's repaying the faith.

I had seen him play at Millwall, Exeter and against Stockport. Didn't think he was that great based on those games but today was fantastic. I think he needed time to bed in like alot of the signings. Learn other players games. Now looks great. Keep it up!

Sorry - don't think he did.. Puncheon played the last 10 minutes of the 1st half on left? Then swapped a little with Lallana every now and then in the 2nd half although played mostly on the right in the 2nd half..
