Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 This season, what eleven has most wins under its belt? And how should we do this? The same eleven that has won most games or the players in the eleven who have won most games? But we need to do this so that we know our best eleven.
nathan Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Not sure about most wins but my best team is: Davis Thomas Fonte Jaidi Harding Antonio Schneiderlin Hammond Lallana Waigo Lambert
Avenue Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Not sure about most wins but my best team is: Davis Thomas Fonte Jaidi Harding Antonio Schneiderlin Hammond Lallana Waigo Lambert good team mate. just need to factor in puncheon now somehow..

Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Author Posted 19 February, 2010 It's not a case of what YOUR strongest team is. Frankly you and me are irrelevant. Factually what is out best team?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 The FA Cup winning side of 76? 1984 2nd placed side myself.
norwaysaint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 It's not a case of what YOUR strongest team is. Frankly you and me are irrelevant. Factually what is out best team? Well that's clearly flawed thinking isn't it? You asked for the most successful team at first, but that doesn't mean much, as being part of the team that beat Hartlepool doesn't make you worse than being in the team that lost to Leeds. Now you are asking for our best team. Well the most effective way to get that is for people who have seen matches to pluck out the best players they have seen, which they are doing.

Nah, winning is winning. Who has been on the winning side most would be my view.
Spades Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Nah, winning is winning. Who has been on the winning side most would be my view. you just told me its not about you or me... so your persoal view is also irrelevent.
derry Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 League. Davis( Bialkowski 5/7 ) ( Davis 7/22) James Trotman Jaidi Harding waigo Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Connolly
Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Author Posted 19 February, 2010 you just told me its not about you or me... so your persoal view is also irrelevent. Lol, the point I meant was can we find a genuine measure of our best side?

The best logical way is how NHL ice hockey statisticians do it - Goals For/Against and Won/Lost record whilst on the pitch in the form of +/- stats. Good luck working out that one... in my experience only *I* am sad enough to work that out, and I can't be arsed. FWIW I'd suggest that as Lambert signed quite early and had to play with the rejects for a month or so there will be a skew against his stats even based on this.

derry Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 What have you used Derry? Winningmost eleven? Most appearances in a winning team. but that doesn't tell the whole story. ie Davis as the percentage would give Bialkowski a better record.
Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Author Posted 19 February, 2010 Most appearances in a winning team. but that doesn't tell the whole story. ie Davis as the percentage would give Bialkowski a better record. I think we should go on % to be equitable then.
VectisSaint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Whilst it may be interesting to work out who have been the players in our most successful team, it is based on history and would therefore not include any of our 5 recent signings. Yet presumably AP would consider he brought in these players to improve the team. So it is not a very useful guide to what will be our best team. Not suggesting all five will be our best players but Fonte for instance would be without a doubt.
docker-p Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Nah, winning is winning. Who has been on the winning side most would be my view. Its a very interesting question. I'm not sure AP or us would learn much from the answer, but i would still like to know.
Arizona Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Bart has won 9 out of the 11 games he has played this season. The two defeats coming at Leeds and Colchester. Easily our best player statistically.
Legod Third Coming Posted 20 February, 2010 Author Posted 20 February, 2010 Bart has won 9 out of the 11 games he has played this season. The two defeats coming at Leeds and Colchester. Easily our best player statistically. Then we need him back in goal. Is it coincidence that our flat spot has come with the reintroduction of Kelvin? We have seen managers make this mistake before.
SFC Forever Posted 20 February, 2010 Posted 20 February, 2010 Most appearances in a winning team. but that doesn't tell the whole story. ie Davis as the percentage would give Bialkowski a better record. Most wins to minutes would clearly mean dropping the club captain for his younger rival. That I would agree with.
