Watching the Women's Skeleton event, with loads of GB interest in it, as we are the fastest with Amy Williams, who set a new course record, down the Whistler track. Normally, I wouldn't bother too much, but the Skeleton sledge really appears to move like a rocket ship. The sliders come down the track head first, and the speed looks absolutely enormous. So fast that the cameras sometimes have dificulty keeping up.

Good TV.

EDIT: F**k me - Amy Williams British Olympic Champion..!

Noticed that quite a few, if not most of the skeleton riders clip the same corner too that Nodar Kumaritashvili hit before his tragic accident, that corner is lethal and seems to be almost too narrow coming out of the last bend. Were the other two accidents in the same place?

Letting white people win at sports no one else can afford to learn.

That would be because most countries with the correct conditions for winter sports tend to have white indigenous populations.

Very few opportunities for downhill skiing or speed skating in the Sudan.

And many, if not most, white people can't afford winter sports either.

It's been pretty crap by Norway this year (again). It might be a small country, but EVERYONE here does cross-country skiing, even my two year old daughter is learning and my four year old is takes her skis to nursery, yet they're not winning many medals in that or biathlon.

In fact they've done better at downhill skiing which is less popular here.

I've never been sure what bothers me most when I go skiing, the 3 year olds powering past me, or the ninety year olds.

That was always my experience of skiing. I thought I was tanking it down the piste, only to be overtaken by the ski school snaking past :smt066.

The ski-cross looks really exciting, I'm loving the Ice Hockey, and find the curling strangely compelling. There are some hot young ladies involved in that sport. :D

I do a lot of skiing, but in ten years here, I've still never done downhill. I'm sure the kids and pensioners would g zoom past me at that as well though.

Same here (although I don't live in Norway)! I'm much better at sking on a plateau...while my real forte is uphill.
