Guided Missile Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 I must admit, I was unaware he'd moved to our fair city, according to this report. I can't believe he'd feels he can't visit West Quay, anymore...
Um Bongo Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 He added: 'I must congratulate Southampton on their performance, they put a decent effort in. 'They played with a lot of energy and produced some very good football. 'Rickie Lambert was hard work, a big lump who was causing most of the defenders problems. 'His delivery in the box in the first 45 minutes was outstanding. I completely mis-read a cross on one occasion because it was such a good ball. 'Every time he got wide he was knocking balls in so Hayden (Mullins) closed that down after 20-odd minutes because he realised what he was going to do. 'They played with a lot of energy, some very good football, and that explained why they were unbeaten for nine games. 'Before the match I had a quick look at the programme and I don't think they've conceded more than two goals at home this season. 'We were up against a tough side and their performance proved that.' Obviously you can't read then David, We conceded three against Brighton and Bristol Rovers!
Saint_Jonny Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Hes a good lad, bigged us up alot at the end of that article, which is very surprising!
alpine_saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Anyone that would give him grief for doign his job is a meathead.
saintmonkey1979 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Anyone that would give him grief for doign his job is a meathead. As opposed to giving our players and staff grief for doing their jobs? Hmmm.
ribbo Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 wow, i thought he lived exeter way, cant fault him as a bloke, just the shirt he wears and the shots he kept out
Chez Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 First choice England keeper in my eyes. Yes he makes the odd **** up (but name a keeper that doesn't), but he is one of the few English keepers that actually pulls off saves that leave you opened mouth with amazement. I'm not sure the ones he made on Saturday were quite that, but time after time on MOTD last season he got the skates out of jail with rediculous reaction or full length saves. I thought he lived in deepest darkest Devon. I seem to recall him going on about long commutes. I guess he has a second or third (who knows) home.
ChrisPY Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Top bloke. My dad got him to sign the back of a Saints ticket a few months back in Sainsburys, Hedge End.
Saint_clark Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 As opposed to giving our players and staff grief for doing their jobs? Hmmm.
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 I know he's been developing properties around Sandbanks... I don't think he'd be unable to walk through West Quay... Whereas a Saints player in Pompey would be a completly different answer...
markr27 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 wow, i thought he lived exeter way, cant fault him as a bloke, just the shirt he wears and the shots he kept out What I heard as well - he keeps Enterprise rentals busy in Chandlers Ford
y00x Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 "James has swapped life in Devon for Southampton, although more for convenience than culture" So why not move to pompey then?
equalizer Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 "James has swapped life in Devon for Southampton, although more for convenience than culture" So why not move to pompey then? Do you really need an answer to that question?
Block 5 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 I know he's been developing properties around Sandbanks... I don't think he'd be unable to walk through West Quay... Whereas a Saints player in Pompey would be a completly different answer... Your average skate wouldn't recognise a Saints player.
y00x Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 No I jut like the way The News tried to be funny but ends up shooting themselves in the foot.
John B Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Your average skate wouldn't recognise a Saints player. I doubt whether the average Skate could recognise a Pompey player either.
alpine_saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 As opposed to giving our players and staff grief for doing their jobs? Hmmm. James performed well, kept us out and his team won - he did his job properly. I give our guys grief when they DONT do their jobs properly.
Block 5 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 I doubt whether the average Skate could recognise a Pompey player either. Agreed. By the way, I feel you are being far too respectful by capitalising the word 'skate'.
Arizona Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Hes a good lad, bigged us up alot at the end of that article, which is very surprising! Not really, he's probably trying to keep the bricks out of his living room.
SFC Forever Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Not really, he's probably trying to keep the bricks out of his living room. No he is just trying to keep his head above water.
saintmonkey1979 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 James performed well, kept us out and his team won - he did his job properly. I give our guys grief when they DONT do their jobs properly. TBF it really doesn't seem to make much of a difference to you. [-X
John B Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 No he is just trying to keep his head above water. or wants to join us;)
Charlie Wayman Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 How odd! He was in West Quay about three weeks ago hanging around outside John Lewis presumably doing what we all do, trun up to meet our shopaholic other half's at the agreed hour.. You know 35 minutes, late no sign of... He's an ordinary bloke for all that..
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 "James has swapped life in Devon for Southampton, although more for convenience than culture" So why not move to pompey then? Because the minimum rental period is one month?
up and away Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 How odd! He was in West Quay about three weeks ago hanging around outside John Lewis presumably doing what we all do, trun up to meet our shopaholic other half's at the agreed hour.. You know 35 minutes, late no sign of... He's an ordinary bloke for all that.. Ordinary? I don't remember seeing anyone that thin apart from models. Seen him a couple of times after training in the filling station by the Chilworth roundabout. Would not surprise me if he lived in Chilworth or some where that direction, not that easy to get back to the M27 from that point.
saintoaks Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Lives in Segensworth as far as i knew..liked the way he just clapped us in the Chapel end when teams turned round at kick off saturday..he was getting major grief!!,
Jez Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Anyone that would give him grief for doign his job is a meathead. I give our guys grief when they DONT do their jobs properly. The difference being? Both sets are doing their jobs, but because one is worse than the other at any said 'job' then its ok for you to abuse them? But if someone else does, then they are a meathead.
St Matty Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 he was staying at the solent Hotel in whiteley for quite a while. met him up there a couple of times and he was a really good guy. More than happy to pose for pics, sign shirts, chat to the kids etc. Throw in his charity work as well and he is an all round top bloke almost up to kelvin's class. I would be happy to speak to him in West Quay and have some good banter. St Matty
Macey_J2 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Im sure hes a fine man, but hes still a skate, and deserves to be treated as one, like all those before and after he's gone. Apparently O'Hara was in the apple store in west quay last week, i wish i was there. I do like how none of their players live in Portsmouth, brings a smile to my face.
gonzo Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 It makes sense for them to live in Southampton. Apart from the fact it's a nicer place, their training ground is in Eastleigh - and they spend more time there then they do at Fratton Park.
bender Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 He obviously wants us to sign him come end of season.
gonzo Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 He obviously wants us to sign him after March 1st. Corrected.
Yeti Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 He lives in Hollyhill, off Basset Avenue. My friends mum cleans his house.
70's Mike Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 nothing new really most skate players in recent years have lived to the west of fareham, many of their ex players still do
forestroad saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 David James son plays for Bournemouth acadmey u15s they were at Totton/Eling a few sundays ago and he was watching, one of the younger lads asked him if he wanted to sign for a decent club southampton, to be fair he laughed loudly and declined to comment
Block 5 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 The difference being? Both sets are doing their jobs, but because one is worse than the other at any said 'job' then its ok for you to abuse them? But if someone else does, then they are a meathead. An excellent post Jez, however I fear it will be lost on Alpine.
alpine_saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 The difference being? Both sets are doing their jobs, but because one is worse than the other at any said 'job' then its ok for you to abuse them? But if someone else does, then they are a meathead. I meant "doing their job" as in accomplishing their set task
31GARRY Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 100% braken place. Bit of a dump to be honest.Its a rented property.
Jonnyboy Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 I meant "doing their job" as in accomplishing their set task He let two balls past him into his net, the twonk! Anyway, if I see him in west Quay, HolyHill, Hedge End, Chilworth, Segenhams or St Marys he best run cos Im gonna open him up
Freemantle Saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 he lives in pinewood of saxholm dale just off the avenue..................
Essruu Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 he lives in pinewood of saxholm dale just off the avenue.................. This one is correct.
scotty Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 he lives in pinewood of saxholm dale just off the avenue.................. that means every time he turns off the Avenue he will be going very steeply downhill. Get used to it, Dave
Freemantle Saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 co-incidence he lives in the house next to the one john burridge used to live in
