Liquidshokk Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 Not had a season ticket before due to an erratic work schedule but think I'll get one next season. Just have a couple of questions if someone wouldnt mind answering; Do they only cover league games? I notice that people with season tickets still had to phone up for JPT/FA tickets Do you have to pay for JPT/FA Cup tickets on top? How do you normally go about buying for someone to go with you? does the other person just phone up and hope that the seat next to yours is free as I assume you dont have to phone up to get your own tickets for the games? Are you sent your tickets or do you just use the same ticket for every game? Thanks

Liquidshokk Posted 17 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 17 February, 2010 Cool, Thanks. Im guessing a lot of season ticket holders end up going on their own then?!?! So those stubs can be given to anyone to use if work deprives me of a visit to the fortress? :smt033
NickG Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 if you want to sit with someone elsewhere you can leave your season ticket with ticket office, swap for another seat next to your mate, and they sell your seat for that game

If you go with your mates if they are getting a ST you should be able to get seats together. And technically yeah you can. My mate has missed a couple of games and I've given his ST to my mate, and my dad, on different occasions.

The good thing is we have met and chat with all the people around us. I have no problem should my dad not decide to re-new that i'll go on my billy. Mase Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 I haven’t had a season ticket since our last season in the Prem myself. It just so happened the season we got relegated was the season I started part time work and had to work most weekends. A few weeks ago I managed to change my weekend shifts to an evening shift during the week, so next season I’ll be getting one for sure. I’d like a bit of advice on where would be best for me to sit though. At the moment when I go to games with the old man (usually once a month) I just opt for as close to the half way line as possible. The view is perfect but the atmosphere is a bit dull. Then again, I don’t want to have to stand up & sit down every few minutes singing “stand up if you hate Poopey” etc, so I’d like an in-between. Any ideas? Matthew Le God Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 Do they only cover league games? I notice that people with season tickets still had to phone up for JPT/FA tickets? Yes, of course only league games but you get priority for cup games for your seat when tickets go on sale. DO you have to pay for JPT/FA Cup tickets on top? Yes of course you do. How do you normally go about buying for someone to go with you? does the other person just phone up and hope that the seat next to yours is free as I assume you dont have to phone up to get your own tickets for the games? If the seat next to your seat is a non season ticket then they can have that if you order it quick enough. If the seat isn't free then you can get two seats somewhere else but only pay for one of them(as you as a season ticket holder has already paid). You also have to give the ticket office your season ticket until after the game. Are you sent your tickets or do you just use the same ticket for every game? You get a season ticket booklet which has vouchers for all 23 league games.

Matthew Le God Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 I'm intrigued why you asked this...? DO you have to pay for JPT/FA Cup tickets on top? Of course they pay. Otherwise.... 13,000 season ticket holders could have for example 10 home Cup games or they could get none it is varible from season to season. That is potentially 130,000 free tickets, times £20, equals £2.6m That is ALOT of money to miss out on.

Not sure why I thought that.... Guess I thought the events of the last few years put people off getting them.. On the basis of of a couple of hundred season tickets it wouldnt be such a big deal if the cup games were included Was a stupid question that one though, admittedly. (Boredom does that to me.) Liquidshokk Posted 17 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 17 February, 2010 A couple of hundred season ticket holders! You'd have to go to the Blue Square leagues to find those sort of numbers not a large club like Southampton that had 22,000 season ticket holders when in the Premiership! Geez. Im so naieve clearly. I know we have a massive fanbase but just thought the majority bought them as and when they want to go. Cant wait to get mine next season and meet some new chums around me near the dug out, which is my fave spot. Will be hard pushed to get a season ticket around the dug out area? One of the guys in the ticket office said he was surprised seats in row B were available at the stage I booked as so many season ticket holders around there.... I know we have a massive fanbase but just thought the majority bought them as and when they want to go. For nearly every club roughly 50% of the average attendance is made up of season ticket holders. This obviously fluctuates from club to club. It works out a lot cheaper as a season ticket holder. Divide the cost of a season ticket by 23 games and it is a lot lower than buying on a game by game basis. Gives a terrible view of the game. Best to sit as close to the halfway line as possible from about row K up to the very back. As long as you are central, sitting near the back at St Mary's gives a great view. Hence why all the posh seats are situated there in the Itchen. So get an equivalent seat in the Kingsland. Ive sat in Row B a couple of times this season, one of the times being when we played Norwich and connolly ran past us and scored a screamer... You do struggle to see the whole game i agree but I love being down with the players and the action. Watching Pardew shout out his orders and seeing the players react puts a whole new perspective on the game. Admittedly I probably wouldnt want to sit that low EVERY game. A tad higher it is then. Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 IMO, row W is a perfect vantage point, I sit in Block 31 virtually on the half-way line and the view is second to none. But, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
SNSUN Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 I'm not a season ticket holder because I work the dreaded LUL shiftwork, but in terms of seating position it is so much better sat up top. I much prefer being at the back, better atmosphere and a better view. Sadly for me, if I take my girlfriend along, she has cruddy eyes, and we have to sit near the front, which is when I tend to rely on the screens to follow the action. hamster Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 imho there are not really and 'bad ' seats at SMS. I've sat in every part of the ground (including in with the Gills fans) aprt form corporate and each area has it's unique ambience. Maybe over the next few matches you could do a recce of each area and find 'your' area. Just bear in mind that the club are planning to move the away fans next season which is going to have a pretty big impact on many aspects of the spectator experience. Also bear in mind that what some consider the best seats for singing are actaully the absolute worst for big cup games, because as it is, they mae you move!
