I'm usually pessimistic but I can see us doing a job today, I think the players will be relieved to get all that cup nonsense out of the way and get a settled team again.

2-1 Saints.

Davis

Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding

Lallana Schneiderlin Hammond Puncheon

Lambert Barnard

F*CK me that's a great L1 team.

Can see us going there today and doing a Carlisle last week and giving their boys a right good seeing to.

2-2 for me today, in keeping with our earlier results against them.

A draw today wouldn't be a bad result but I feel it will be close and could go either way

Much like the rest of the forum i am "looking forward" to you winging

Pardew finally there with team selection! Maybe thomas in for otsemobor but can understand with being former club and point to prove n stuff...

Barnard will come good now, very confident with him scoring given this midfield and formation. no matter how sharp the nail, unless u got the hammer, it aint gonna stick.

Waigo

Lambert

Barnard

Connolly

= beautiful!

IMO that's our best side - easily.

Thats available for selection yes i agree. The only change I would make is Connolly back in for Barnard when he is fit...that would be our best team IMHO.

yeah agree with that, other than Connolly being out - it's perfect.

It would seem that Semi is our current first choice right back as long as Murty is absent (which will be always),probably better than Thomas as well.

only two I would debate (not having seen Puncheon playing for us) are

RB - think Thomas good option

Barnard v Waigo.

But happy with that side - guessing Waigo/Antonio are good from bench as game opens out

Posted
just an observation -suppose we have some pace on the bench, but would have liked to have seen Waigo start?

How quick is Puncheon?

Only seen him once so not really took too much notice..

In the little video that was the backdrop to APs preview the other day Barnard and Lambert were practising their close range scoring skills, got better as well.

Fair play to AP, I did think he would go 4-5-1 and try for a point, cos a point would be a good result there regardless of league position/points total.

After NC told him to win that would be taking this p*ss a bit wouldn't it.

Did I say no pace or "not much pace" yep the latter

Last week the pace of Owusu destroyed us!

So the player that played left wing for Pompey had too much pace.

Alan Pardew puts a very, very quick right back like Jon Otsemobor in the team, and you complain. :D

Lallana, Harding, Puncheon, Otsemobor are certainly not slow for League One.

Antonio and Papa Waigo are options on the bench if needed.

Looks a good side today lets hope Puncheon & Lallana can get good service into Lambert & Barnard, I will stick with my prediction 2-2. I'd be more than happy with a point today, but would happy to sacrifice points in the predictor table for a Saints win. COYR

Not considering we have won a fait few games playing 4-5-1 no. I would like to think that the Chairman isnt influencing how AP sets up his team.

what did you expect with Thomas and Perry in the side?

That's Thomas's big problem; snail's pace, same with Perry. Reading the game is all very fine but it's worth diddly squat when you have a winger who can run the 100 in about 10.2 and still juggle the ball at the same time, sure they can 'read' the game, from the half-way line looking back.

very pleased with that team, i hope it doesnt let us down. Even if they lose today i hope we keep faith and play the same team next week to let them gel
